  1. Love all the "daddy ball" etc comments about summer ball coaches.  I watched 6 of my former players play in a NCAA Regional in Knoxville last weekend.  Another was in Ky and not sure if Stanford was in or not???  2 others off that team won D2 titles.  Yeah, they all played travel ball because they couldn't win a spot on the HS team!!!!!

  2. I never said all good pitchers come from from big schools. Or at least I never meant to imply that. But the bigger schools normally play tougher schools and have more skilled batters due to larger pond to pull from. Always will be exceptions. Ellen and Ivy would be dominate anywhere, as they have shown in College. Fagan we will have to wait and see how she does.

But I thought we were talking about K's in High School. Maybe you are right. The trend may be to go to a small HS and rack up big numbers now????? I am not sure about that. What I am sure about is that all the girls mentioned are very good!!!!.

  4. There are always exceptions. The point I was trying to make is, excluding tournaments, alot, not all, of your single A schools have very weak district and areas schedules which comes from the low numbers of girls at each school and the talent from that area spread out among so many different school. And when that rare big fish happens to show up in that little pond and jumps it makes an awfully big splash.

Umm, what about the most important factor in HR count????? Fence depth!!! I have seen 180ft to 235 ft!!!!

  5. It would be nice if TSSAA would require all games have box scores submitted. That would be the only way to keep up with it. It would give some legitimacy to all stats.

I don't know what is funnier....TSSAA keeping good stats or relying on High School book keepers (pitchers parents) to keep correct stats!!!!! Was once told it was not fair to the pitcher to score that a hit when she is trying so hard!!!!!! LOL!!!

  6. You need to look at who Coalfield plays in a season. They play their (10) district games then everything else is out of conference. Just this year they have played several teams that were at state last year in AAA. Teams such as Mt. Juliet, Seymour and numerous other AA and AAA teams. They got Beech on the schedule next Thursday. So if you think they have stuck to single A only, look again. When it comes down to it, you are not comparing the number of years one plays, it's the amount of games and innings that are played. Lindsey just got her 100th win a couple of weeks ago. When you compare the others they have well over 130 wins in a career. Is it fair that one team gets to play more games per season than the others ?

" just this year they have played several teams that were at state last year in AAA". Yet she has 5 yrs pitching?????

You should have named this thread " Why isn't everyone saying she is the best"..... She is very good. All American, right? But I think most people would take the girl at Soddy. Better competition, better hitters, etc. Now before you say that is not her fault at Coalfield, well, most people with that talent end up at bigger schools that play tougher compition...... Right or wrong that is how it happens and everybody knows it. I wonder what Hosfields, The girl at Soddy, etc., would have put up at Coalfield in 5 yrs???? And lets not forget, Hosfield did not play very much her Sr year after breaking her ankle sliding into 2nd.....

Regardless, the girl at Coalfield is very good!!! :flower:

  7. Yes Blackman has had their fair share. Blackman seems to get senior transfers that last 1 year. Riverdale gets Freshman transfers that last 4 years each which means in 4 years they have almost a full team of transfers. I don't know where all these players come from. I don't keep up with it that much. Just know every year they have a new great player. Back to Barbee, She is a great player and I believe will be a great player at Georgia. Congrats to her. Georgia definitely got a good one.

So are you saying Blackman can only recruit transfers with 1 yr left and Riverdale gets Freshman who can play 4 yrs????? LOL You're saying they beat you at recruiting also!!!! That running back of yours sure would have been nice to have in Columbia!! He is a good one!!!! And you have a heck of a Football coach!!! What he did at Smyrna was great. I can't believe you guys got him to up and leave MTCS just like that!!!! Can you imagine if he had gone to Riverdale, MBA, or Brentwood Academy!!!!!! Some people would have questioned that....believe it or not!!! :flower:

  8. This past friday I watched my daughter pitched her last high school game, I watched her warm up with her catcher and bestfriend (Brittney Toney), I watched the entire team laugh and talk and cut up together, this year these girls had a mess with one, you mess with all mentality. They never panicked or stressed, always calm under pressure. They endured somethings this year Ive never seen, adults in the stands cussing @ our kids, screaming "Hit the ball back @ the pitcher and take her head off", people constantly doubting your ability and talent, hoping for your team demise. No one wanted to give you credit ladies and coaches, but instead of causing dissapointment it gave yall inspiration, it was almost like a secret how good you ladies were but people seen you play but they couldnt see the heart of the team like we could, your team heart beat loud and strong, and it had only one sound even though several girls made it beat. I am proud that my daughter Cheyanne Knepper had the opportunity to play with you ladies and coaches this year. The word "team" is mentioned a lot in athletics but this year that word is something that I could emotionally feel, Thank you Goodpasture Softball Girls, coaches, and parents for making this year a memorable year.

    Cassandra Knepper

Nursecass, I came to the tourney in Dickson to watch some softball and see some of the girls I know play. I was SHOCKED by the conduct of some of the adults towards your team. I stayed till the end. I was sitting away from the fence and don't know what the group from KY said to your daughter, but they made a huge mistake!!! She was wore out and having a hard time, then they gave her a reason to turn it back on!!! And her team just flat pounded the ball!!!

I have seen a increase in parent/fan agression this year and I don't really like it. I hope this is not a trend. Congrats to your TEAM and your daughter!! :flower:

  9. Beach had no senior so you would expect them to be strong again next year. Who else?

Beech!!!! Are you kidding??? They were not even a National Ranked Team this year. How could they be good next year??? Where did they finish anyway.... :flower:

  10. Ok, everyone knows that I am pulling for Soddy due to them being in our district. BUT for a Soddy fan (sounds more like the guy who does the stats)to accuse anyone of padding stats is the funniest thing I have every heard! I have went to the game and then read the paper the next day. Everyone in the district laughs and jokes how the writer for the Chatt paper graduated from Soddy. Even the parents laugh at it! Come on man don't be that guy!!!

" But she hit the ball...." Sorry!!!! I couldn't help myself!!!

  11. Look at it this way,you can't pad the score. I don't know any college coach that payees attention to high school stats.

This is SOOO true!!! However, I know of a college here in Middle Tn that counted EVERYTHING as a hit this year!!! Ex: Our left fielder, standing flat footed, had a fly ball hit right in her glove and bounce out.....HIT!!!!!! Some folks told me before the game everything would be a hit that day, but I thought they were joking!!!

Congrats to all the girls that played the game!!! :flower:

  12. 14.2.3 Base Hit: A batted ball that permits the batter to reach first base safely because of a fair hit; because a runner is declared out for being hit by a batted ball or because the umpire is hit by a batted ball; or when a fielder attempts to put out a preceding runner but is unsuccessful, although there is no fielding error and the official scorer believes the batter-runner would have reached first base with perfect fielding; when a batter reaches first base safely on a fair ball hit with such force or so slowly that any fielder attempting to make a play has no opportunity to do so. A hit shall be scored even if the fielder deflects the ball from or cuts off another fielder who could have put out a runner

Now a math lesson: Our 13 hits are 4 different from your 9 hits. If you take the 2 errors we have listed and add the 4 hits difference, which must be errors then you get 6 errors. (2+4=6) I hope you understand that I am saying if they are not hits then they are counted as errors.

Second, you clam 5 hits and you only had 5 base runners the whole game. Second inning #11 hits a Homerun (hit #1). Fourth inning #4 reaches on error, still 1 hit. She was picked off. Fifth inning #3 hits into right field (hit #2)

Seventh inning # 8 hits into the 5-6 hole (hit#3) Then in the 7th #11 has a BLOOP single to make it hit # 4.

The only thing I can figure is that you counted the error as a hit, thus padding your stats.

OK, wait a minute?? You give the rule describing what is a "hit" and suggest they are not counting errors and padding stats. But aren't you doing the same thing( #4 reaches on a error)????

As long as parents are keeping the books, (BOOKS), you will have these disagreements!!! :flower:

  13. ok i will admit i did not see this coming. we just made a few mistakes and could not over come them...i still believe that if we play them 10 times we would win 8 of them!!! anyway, i know we had a good year its still not our best, next year should be ok but 2013 and the next few years to follow will be the years that we should go all the way. Coach Kenny put a team together along time ago, some ,local people call them the dream team, when we get all them together in high school we will be hard to handle, that is a couple of years away, but when that team gets there everybody will agree.

So will the "Dream Team" go to "Dream State"?????? :flower:

  14. While I never agree with fans acting like morons I REALLY have no idea what people are talking about. Why can someone not give specifics of present time where somone is climbing fence. Does it supposedly happen at all games or was it an isolated incident where I might not have been. Someone mentions travel ball from someone not even on the team so how is that Coffee County HighSchool fans?

I have no idea if it happens at all your games...or any?? You asked where it happens or if it ever happens. But I know the parent of one of your former 4 yr starters who is at a college liked to yell..."Rattle the cage"!!!! Come on....you know who I am talking about!!! :flower:

(And no, he is no longer with the program...or travel ball...or TB in the next town...or the next, etc)

  15. For the Soddy fan that had so much to say early in the year, he seems to have vanished!!! Seems like he called out a player from last year who is in college, then said players little sister came down with her girls and beat Soddy and I have not heard a thing since.

After reading this stuff from "alltheway" I can't beleive Wilson is just sitting back waiting on the game. Should be a good one. Hope Wilson makes it to the game and gets to sit with "alltheway". Now that would be worth watching!!! :flower:

    Good luck to both!!!!

  16. While this post may be entertaining to some, I won't dignify a response EXCEPT I keep reading remarks about a fan climbing the fence. Please enlighten me as to where this takes place. While I do agree some fans can be obnoxious (that goes for fans of every team)I have never seen anything remotely resembling fence climbing.

Really??? I can remember one of your former parents whose daughter has moved on now coached a travel team. He use to yell "rattle the cage" and all the parents would jump up and shake the fence!!!! We laughed till we cried!!!!! Now the girl were younger then, but still, pretty funny!!!! :flower:

  17. Lets add this one to the pot! Princess came over to daddy out of the dug out. Daddy. im not playing Short Stop any more. Where you playing said dad. Princess reply"s on second. Daddy say's thats ok as long as your in the Infield. Outfield is upmost important. :roflolk:

Scooby that is so true!!! So many parents think of the outfield as a curse!!! I see so many young players who would make GREAT outfielders and they just look at you like you are crazy!!!! Our CF's have gone on to do OK, I bet they are glad they didn't have a attitude about playing in the outfield when it was asked of them! :flower:

  18. Again refer to reason #1.

LOL, it's about time you started talking some sense Mr. Knowitall. Great thread. Although I have to say one of the best coaches in MT is a Coach Dad. Most of the best one's had to start there because they didn't come up playin girls fast pitch.

Athleticism is genetic but some are born with heart and desire. Either will enhance a child if the parents give their child the developement tools they need to be sucessful. High School coaches inherit good well developed kids. All they have time to do is fine tune them into their gameplan. They cannot provide your child with developement, that's soley on the parents. So if you want a winning high school team you better get out there and get to work, becaue sissy ain't gonna learn it at the league park.

Your telling me to make sence???? So it's up to the parents to teach a girl how to play a TEAM sport??? How does Mom practice turning a 4-6-3 double play with Sissy???? If you were referring to rec ball I agree, but I hope you were not talking about A level Travel Ball I always support.

BTW, Mr NOITALL...you always talk down about Travel Ball coaches as Daddy Ball....But why is all the drama I keep reading about on here about HS Coaches??? Fired with winning records, affairs, coaches leaving schools because of parents, coaches paying players.(opps...wrong thread :flower: ), etc.. Just wondering about that......

  19. Coaches and parents don't let this sport fall prey to AAU Basketball, Travel Soccer and Club Volleyball. Let the girls play multiple sports and enjoy their high school athletic experience and coaches go after those athletes in other sports and tell them about the great game of softball.

College sports are a job...high school sports are fun and will have long lasting memories. Don't take those memories away from your student or child.

If your a great athlete worthy of college in any sport...you will be found, trust me...your parents don't have to spend a fortune to promote you thru AAU, Club or Travel Ball...or spend every weekend in another state...spend the weekends playing ball with your high school teamates playing softball!

Is soccer or volleyball on ESPN or ESPN2 every weekend like SEC Softball is now...heck no. Check it out girls and what your missing...real action!!! :popcorneater:

Hogan you must be around one of those good programs. I can promise you that if my DD had not played Travel Softball, She would not be playing in College!!!! Heck, the only College Coaches that came near her school was when they drove by on the Hwy going to a game!!!! Please don't mislead a lot of these girls who don't play at the "Upper" HS programs.....I think you "know" better....

And BTW...my DD played every sport and enjoyed them. I think a lot of coaches like seeing well rounded athletes. I agree that if they want to play multi sports they should. Don't let any Coach, Travel or High School, stop you!!!

  20. Well cousin you must have been talkin about travel ball cause that is where you see a your mama's keep score book to make sure every hit is count as a hit and daddy

makin sure that his princess is the star....now I am sure that was what you were a talkin about! But we do have several of them high school teams that have that daddy a settin on the pine bein a coach to make sure that baby girl gets special treatment!

I know that is so hard to believe but it be true! So here is number #17!

    17. Coaches......have you ever had parents question the way the scorekeeper score a play cause the ball bounce one time on the ground then off of glove and roll around and that scorekeeper gave that little princess a error when everyone knows that was a hit cause my princess hit it.....or it could be rule number 1?

No, No, No....I was talking about HIGH SCHOOL COACHES. The ones who take the job just for the extra pay. They are the ones who coach track, golf, basketball, volleyball, and whatever else they can sqeeze in. They are at the schools that never go to State, unless they pay. They often play the players whose Parents have complained to the Principle, are friends of friends, etc... I mean lets not allow the best players to play, have to work hard to earn your spot. After all, this is America!!! Just complain enough and you'll get your way with the public system!!!!

Funny you mention Travel Ball and book keeping. Back when my DD was in HS our HS team had 3 BOOKS being kept!!!! (4 if you count the 2 the pitchers MOM kept). However our Travel team had 1.
