  1. I work with Dressers dad. He will be enrolling in Arlington as a freshman if not at Arlington rumor has it that he would consider Briarcrest as 5 or 6 of his Dulins Dodgers team members will be enrolled there as well. Either way the kid will not be in Dresden so enjoy watching this special kid while you can. Dressers dad wants him to play the toughest competition out there which is why he plays summer baseball with Dulins and they travel throughout the US finding such competition. He will be a 3 sport star in high school but it will be his sister the track star that has the bigger career.

atiger, if you work with Albert then you shouldn't have to be quoting rumors that you hear....why don't you just ask Mr. Winn instead of starting rumors about a 13 year-old. You people obsessed with an 8th grader are some sad individuals.
  2. Last year was a great game and I would have loved to have seen a rematch in the playoffs. I think they were evenly matched. I said throughout the season last year that Dyersburg was going to be as much a challenge as Covington was for us. OC should be competitive again next year but should be back in contention the year after. Lots of starters in skilled positions are sophomores and a couple of freshmen seeing playing time. They have some high potential coming up and will be interesting to see what they are capable of. I'm no Dyersburg fan, but they have a strong program and I expect them to do well in the playoffs. Seems to me discipline has returned under the current staff and I truly applaud their turnaround. After Friday, best of luck to the Trojans.

justa, I am pulling for the rebels to get back to being competitive but don't see that happening anytime soon. Don't think jackson will be around to see the revival. Think central should look within the OC family tree to find a replacement. Personally think the rebels are returning to the days of 2-4 wins a year unless changes are made. JMHO
  3. How does a high school football player MAKE the head coach put him in the game?

curious about that as well. That is a perfect example of why humboldt never seems to win the "BIG ONE" whether it's football or basketball. This has been an ongoing trend in their sports programs for several years now. The talent has been there numerous times but they tend to underachieve when the lights are at their brightest.
  4. Dresden will be coming back to Single A unless they want to move up .Dresden should be in the same district as now but trade places with Huntingdon once the playoffs start.Union City is the biggest school in Single A.Union city has 361 students and the first school in 2A is 363.Wonder what the odds were that UC kept a couple students in the gym or at home that day..Looks like Huntingdon will be going back to 2A in football but Class A in other sports.Same for McKenzie .Halls will also be going to 2A in football but Single A in other sports. At least Halls won't have to compete with Milan in the playoffs.Looks like Halls will swap places with Humboldt once the playoffs start as Humboldt will be Single a in all sports.

Bigster. actually we ran off about 2 dozen who were troublemakers and they all landed at Obion Central, go figure
  5. Did the math on this one and it says Huntingdon should win by 17 pts. Yes we have given up some points and most of them were to teams that throw the ball. Running on Huntingdon is very tough as I think most teams we have played will tell you. Should be a interesting game!

exactly what kind of math might you be attempting to get an answer that favors the ponies, is that something that is taught in the Huntingdon school system ?
  6. You're right but yall had better be glad it was hurricane conditions that night. And maybe a forward pass that the officials may have given UC the benefit of the doubt on.I haven't seen anyone from LC that has seen the film post about that, wouldnt matter anyway.Just curious if it was indeed behind the quarterback.I know it was behind the line of scrimmage.Just think maybe the quarterback threw it in front instead of bebind him.Maybe the coach called for that.Maybe you called for the play.If so,was a splendid call...lol

Biggie. the excuses never stop do they....the game was at your house, it's not as if the weather was something the Tornadoes had on order...the Tornadoes were extremely short-handed yet survived the trip to Tiptonville...just admit the Tornadoes are the Falcons daddy when it matters.
  7. Not gonna put them in any exact oder but i would expect these teams to have a decent chance of making it to the glass house

    Lake County

    Lookout Valley

    Cloudland

    McEwen

    Mt Pleasant

dont know much about any other teams except FC (my team) and i know they lost a lot so they're chances of repeating are slim to none but they may slide into the state tournament again

How good are teams like Van Buren, Watertown, Perry County, Grace Baptist, Humbolt, and Trinity Christian? I know the names of all these teams but no knowledge of their strengths for this year

alum...teams from the west would start with Union City, then would include Humboldt and maybe South Fulton. Lake County might be a bit of a stretch but may make a little noise. Union City will have some size for a change and will be a bit young but are capable of being a real force for the forseeable future.
  8. Union City after all they have been through since the Dresden Game with injuries and a couple of kids who left the team, could have folded up the tent and headed home. Nope...not these kids. They beat a Lake County Team that had skilled players at many positions. Union City had most of their starting line, a injured senior Q B ( #17 ) and a host of young kids...all fresh in the back field. We passed the ball well in the rain and wind also. Great going...better days ahead for sure....should win out now. Good luck.

UC grad//Swo/Chipper/Atlas ...who besides Strickland has quit the team...keep hearing that there is more than one(Strickland) but don't know who the other(s) are
  9. Good game as always, Huntingdon's players have a lot of heart!

Milan shot themselves in the foot a couple times, if Arkel is healthy, this game

would not have been as close.

would not have been close hugh, you my friend are what gives the "Butt-Sniffers" a bad name....Mighty 3A power squeaks by 1A power Huntingdon and you sir can't acknowledge that maybe Huntingdon might just be on your level
  10. First off you're an idiot, second South Gibson will get beat like a drum in the playoffs much like last years

52-7 nightmare, third we played USJ and beat them every time and they ran off to Div ll, fourth if you think

Northside or southside is better than Huntingdon or Humboldt you're not just and idiot, your stupid!!!!

You wouldn't sound so idiotic if you would have said Lexington and LIberty!!!

Northside and Southside.......their's two powerhouse football programs.

Stay on the Union City threads and get ready for Basketball.

South Gibson will own you juice in the years to come in all sports. milan will be playing second fiddle to the hornets in the near future in football. You may beat them in this years playoffs but I am talking long-term. The future of high school sports in gibson county is about to be dominated by the "Hornets" so be prepared to get used to it. Big Brother is coming and there is no stopping it.
  11. Fuzz the more you talk it's clear you have no idea what your talking about. The last 21 times we have played milan the record is something like milan11 and huntingdon 10.

stang..not talking about Huntingdon....they are a traditionally good football team...it's just that Milan could better prepare themselves by playing up more in the regular season. Go play little ole Mayfield in reg season. they have tough time finding opponents, play Northside, Southside, USJ, Brighton, etc...I actually pull for Milan in the playoffs. Milan's days as the Gibson Co powerhouse are numbered. So Gibson is about to supplant the dawgs in the long term...they just have more to offer and the writing is on the wall.
  12. Thats the case GT; Our season is a bust now Hyde wont be back for weeks. Dont know how long Lewis will be out and not sure about Strickland either. Taylor is our MLB and he is out for the rest of the regular season. Our highly touted preseason team has vanished before our eyes. Maybe shouldnt post this kind of stuff but I this from heard folks that I work with who's kids play for LC and they knew about all this before I did. Its not a secret.

all the above is a fact...UC's entire backfield is out. One has quit, one has broken foot, Hyde has his problems, another has appt to repair damage to finger or hand. UC was staring at 5-5 record, now may be 4-6. JMHO
  13. If you're referring to Huntingdon, I believe they're 2A, and if you think we should drop them from our

schedule you know nothing about high school football.

These two teams have given football fans some of best games ever played in the state of Tn!

Milan and Huntingdon might not have Alcoa and Maryville's money, stadiums, sponsored

uniforms, the use of TN indoor practice field on rainy days preparing for playoff games etc.......

but they put a quality product on the field with quality players!

The virus of college football has spread to high school, and just like cancer, we have yet to find

    a cure for MONEY........!!

juice...seems you don't know nearly as much about west tennessee high school football as you so proudly proclaim. The stangs are 1A in the playoffs. That has been the case for a couple of years now. Time for you to get caught up. Not playing quality competition has comeback to haunt milan recently. Huntingdon is a quality opponent, not saying otherwise. Just ought to attempt to play some tougher opponents, it might better prepare them for the playoffs. I for one take pride in the West Tenn teams doing well in the playoffs. I root for them all. Just stating facts.
  14. I'll tell you what I think after I watch the game myself. I have a question for you though Would you rather win the yardage battle or win the game? If you want to say the better team lost I really don't care because I'll take the win any day. There has to be a reason why we won other than the fact that UC was the better team. It sounds like special teams may be the reason. That's sometimes the case in a close game.

no, you may be assuming that UC was the better team ...I said no such thing....stats are for losers oftentimes....obviously UC is not a very good team right now...just don't think peabody is gold ball material either...don't think anyone from the west plays good enough defense to compete with Gordonsville///greenback///S pitt as of right now
  15. any west or middle team should be very proud if they beat milan. it don't happen very often.

doesn't apply to quality opponents from the east though does it...the dawgs are a bit overrated in recent years....gonna be a long time before they win it all again. might help if you guys would toughen up your schedule and quit crowing about hoping to beat 1a schools
  16. Now I admit that I wasn't there but I'll tell you what friends said who were there. They said that our defense pounded your fullback early but #4 hurt us with sweeps and counters. They said that we scored so quick that our defense was on the field all night which led to stats that were a bit misleading. They said that we were huge winners in the kicking game and that we clearly won the second half. They also said we were up two TDs in the middle of the third quarter and on the verge of scoring again to put it out of reach 34-13 but an unforced mishap in the backfield caused a fumble and changed the momentum and UC took advantage of that very well. Two very good teams and someone had to lose. You were there so you may refute all of this but this is the way the game was described to me. I wish I had seen it and I will on cable later this week.

friends sometimes tell you what you wanna hear...granted UC isn't all that, but UC had almost 500 yards against the Peabody D...they have many issues as well. As to special teams, UC is very poooooor. The kicker is a freshmen and had not missed an extra point all year but had one blocked due to his lack of blocking. The rest of the special teams are a disaster.
  17. I did not understand the on side kicks all night. I know UC did not want to kick it deep but could have kicked it at an angle to the sidelines. UC gave up too much field position. It looked to me that UC coach played not to lose in the 2nd half. Just my two cents worth.

those are not on-side kicks, that is what the hEAD cOACH chooses to do as he has in the past because his team can't tackle. It is rather pitiful because you are right. it gives the opponent great field position every time. If you noticed even iwth the pooch kick UC still gave up a TD return on one of those "safe pooches". I think it's time to find a staff that can teach fundamentals such as tackling and deffense.
  18. Chipper you told big Bigster to do his homework but didn't do yours lol. Lake county lost to greenfield by 2 points minus two players. They lost by 50 to Dyersburg also minus those two starters/players. If LC stays healthy and out of trouble they will be fine this year.

TROUBLE....what kind of trouble could kids get into...high school kids shouldn't be getting into trouble...this is unheard of.
