  1. How bout them South boys from that WEAK MLC!!!!!!! :D:lol::lol:

    Way to represent!!!

From tonight’s results it doesn't take a genius to see who has the stronger conference this year. ;)

All I have to say is that Kurt you better watch out for Mo West and especially the MAN at linebacker #44. He's the best linebacker I have played against. And yes we played the worst game of the year at the most important time. Football is a huge part of a players life, but the sun will come up tomorrow.

  2. I agree. I think they should deem Burke-Toney as unplayable and move both Mo-East and West's games to another venue, preferrably Carson-Newman... The field is HORRIBLE!!!!!

East's Freshman team is traveling to Boone on Thursday to put their undefeated mark on the line. Can Boone give the Baby Canes their first loss in 2 seasons??? What is Boone's freshman record?

I'm not sure of the record, but I don't think it's above .500. :thumb:

  3. Must say, I have been bragging on that O-line all season, and again last night.

Sky Hicks was an excellent running back, and so is Cameron Jarrett, and hats off to Danny Dye, who racked up big yardage while playing hurt and both ways, but let's face it, anybody who runs behind that line does big numbers. Now is that a coincidence? I don't think so. And as anybody who goes to the games will tell you, they are outsized most every game. They're just very good at what they do.

And by the way offensive line, I loved those uniforms last night. You know, the brown pants, with brown jerseys, brown socks, and brown helmets. Fun playing in the mud, huh?

We love it, little piggies in the mud. Thanks for the compliment, but our backs are still pretty good.

  4. Just so you know, Brad is the fastest QB in the conference. He is also either the fastest or second fastest player on the football team. East has had issues with the power run game that Cherokee has used the past few years, but East has DL and LBs that are bigger and stronger than years past. Bottom line is that if Cherokee can run it up the middle as in the past, then Chiefs score up another W against the Canes. My belief is that the Eastmen will be better suited to stop the ground game. Cherokee has not played an offense like this. Every team that we have played has had fits stopping this version of the East offense. Coach Hatcher is a masterful strategist. The fact that the game is AT CHEROKEE does not help the Canes, but the overall speed that East possesses makes me think we are in much better shape for this game than in the past. East has a bruiser in Jimmy Mosier that has several times been a one man scoring drive. Should be a great game.

Very true. They play low and are hard to move out of the way. Much better than last year from my point of view.

  5. Here's my take on what I saw. MoWest decided to run the option to the weak side until Boone stopped it. Boone did not stop it.

I came on here 3 or 4 weeks ago and said Boone needed to spend about 3 days working on their kicking game and clock management. Tonight Boone had 2 blocked field goals, a missed extra point, and a blocked punt for a safety which led to MoWest getting the ball back with a short field for another touchdown. Also at 9:06 left in the 2nd quarter Boone had 0 timeouts and with 11 minutes to go in the game Boone's out of timeouts again.

2 good things for Boone is that they have Volunteer and Crockett left before their final game against MoEast which will probably be for 2nd in the region. And they will not play a better team than they played tonight.

I sat in front of Coach Jerry Jenkins tonight. That was actually more entertaining than the game itself. He was calling for the back-up qb to come in at the end of the 3rd quarter and was wanting Jarrett to come out of the game also. He said Sharpe was just making too many bad decisions and Jarrett had no heart and was playing scared all game. You could definately tell Jarrett was not wanting to get hit. One thing I had to disagree with him on was that he thought MoWest should playing in 5A. There enrollment is less than 100 more than Boone's is.

Anyway it was a good half again and there is no shame in going 9-1.

1st of all this is Blazer52's pops and not Blazer52. I will start off by saying that I agree with the your comments about the time outs and the kicking game, Both hurt Boone tonight. My take on the game is that when you are playing a team with that many athletes you have to give your playmakers a rest if possible. Dye Jarret, Pratt and Masters didnot ome off the field! Mo West has a wining tradition and therefore they get the players out for the team. When you can give your STUD LINEBACKER #44 a blow as well as every other player on Defense when your offense is on the field that increases your chances to win. Boone is headed in the right direction and we are all proud of them. I would also like to say that alot of players visit this sight and anything that is said by the coaches in the heat of the moment needs to be keep to yourself. There are 3 more games and then the playoffs to look forward to and the TEAM does'nt need to think about anything else but Volunteer.

  6. You can attribute their line to not only Boone pride, but one of the best offensive line coaches in the state of Tennessee. Coach Sharp for the win boys, the blind man will lead you all to victory!!!

Coach Sharp is the modern day Confucius. Hope I spelled that right.

    Boone Pride.

  7. Cherokee's has the "here we come see if you can stop us" game plan. Good QB, good RB's. They are very strong up front. If memory serves me correctly Greenville isn't the biggest team around but what they lack in size they make up for in speed and never quit attitude. Defense will be the deciding factor in this game (as it is in most games).

Huge game for both teams. Good luck and stay safe.

  8. Was that you throwing stuff out the window on the ride back? I about got a windshield full of athletic tape. Did I really see you talking to a cheerleader after the game? I did not know you had a sister.

I was surprised North did not go for an onside kick again.

I guess they feel sorry for me. I don't mind. :o

Good game last night guys, besides the trash talking from both sides it was a very clean game. Good luck to North on the rest of your season and hopefully we will see you guys in the playoffs. One other note D-tackle Joey Brown twisted his ankle but will be good to go for next week in Newport.

  9. 4 for 4 on pat's. Way to go Boone! I had 3 of my kids with me tonight so I could not pay as close attention as usual, and I sat beside the band which was a huge mistake. Since #52 is the only 1 here that was in the game, what were the penalties after North scored the last time? #85 play 1 heck of a game again. After his 1st interception I had to ask someone if North watched the Boone/Cherokee game. After his 2nd interception he kind of answered that question for me. He is just a ball hawk. I was a bit disappointed with the North crowd. When we used to play there that place was packed. Is there less enrollment than there was in the early 90's? Did'nt there student body use to set up couches right behind the end zone? Is North not getting enough money to fix there scoreboard or paint the yardmarkers on the field? #6 for North was quite a player. If it were not for him this game would not been nearly as close as it was. Good luck to North for the rest of the year. You guys have 2 easy game in a row until Johnson County for what could be for the final playoff spot. Has there ever been a game in Gray between two 6-0 teams. That will be quite a site.

One of the 15 yarders was for a "fight" (some punching/kicking form both sides) and the second one was for mouthing off to the ref. Good luck to North on the rest of the your season.

  10. Just because I point out the fact that you are a little over enthusiastc about a game that is still 3 fridays away on a thread that is about this friday's game does not mean I am "riled" . To tell the truth, I find it somewhat amusing that you guys can play out the whole season in just a few paragraphs. I guess it is a man thing.

I'm sorry to be so critical but at my house the whole BCS was already been pre-determined before the first game was played and both my husband and son have already changed their minds twice...

Now I am not stupid... I know that in all probability Boone and West will end up #1 and #2. It would just be nice if you could restrain yourselves a bit and not disrespect North and Cocke County by looking so far ahead. Its just not nice.

As far as it just being fans on this site, remember some of these boys read and post regularly on CoachT.

This is true as you can tell. This is my favorite website ... next to myspace that is.

As for Friday, none of the coaching staff or players are looking past North. People say the difference between good teams and great teams is the ability to learn from their past mistakes, and we looked past North last year. Everyone knows what happened. North (from what I have seen on film) is a hardnose, strong, run it down your throat and make you like it team. I am looking forward to Friday.

  11. That's too bad. Did you completely lose your razor last week? It looked like you had a bear hibernating on your face. Seriously though your quarterback gives away whenever he's going to pass. On run plays when he breaks the huddle he gets right under center. On pass plays he's a little slower getting to the line and he looks around a lot more before he gets under center. How much time do you guys spend on pat's during the week? I know Ploucha has a really strong leg. Is there any way to just back Masters up a few more yards to give Ploucha a little more time to get the kick off?

 This beard is on a four game streak, no way it is goin anywhere.

  12. Boone's next 2 games are out of region with North and a pitiful Cocke County team. This will give them 3 weeks to prepare for Morristown West if they are smart. Losing to North last year meant absolutely nothing and Boone could beat Cocke County without having to prepare for them for a week. Could Boone beat West if they had 3 weeks to prepare for them?

    One week at a time.

  13. Ok Chief fans tell us something about your team. I know last year the Toppres jumped on them early in the game and never let them back in. It was Solomon Duahahna's first appearence as he rushed for 2 touchdowns, 80+yards on 3 carries. I know that you have a new quarterback and have been playing pretty good football so far this season, with your only loss being an heartbreaker last night to Boone. Was the game looked at as an positive or negative? I'm sure that they will go into this game thinking they can win because the Toppers are an very easy team to defend against. Let's get it going.

The Chiefs are a very good football team and if the hill takes them lightly they WILL get beat. The wing T is crazy, but they run it to perfection. Hats off to the chiefs last night to. Games like that are great to win, but heartbreaking to lose. Good luck to both teams.

  14. where are they located? forgive me for saying this as it isnt intended as a put down but i haven't heard of them until the other day

If you're talking about DB, it's in Kingsport, which is in the far northeast conner of TN. I have to say they are pretty good.

  15. Wow. Reading this stuff takes me back. I am a senior at Daniel Boone up in northeast TN, but I used to live and play in Sevier County. I remember all those guys you mentioned. Trey, Chad, James. Wesley Davis is still one of my better friends. I hope you guys can pull it out this week... good luck to both teams.

  16. Well, at least 1 person thinks you look awesome. Did you play more defense last night than the other 2 games?

Beards are they way to go. And yes I played almost every play in the first half last night. I love it that way, but it takes a toll on the body. Last week I played no defense at all because of the passing attack of Greenville. We only had one true tackle in there, Joey Brown #76, and he only plays defense so he was always fresh.

Goal line stands are by far the best things in high school football.

  17. And #52 finally got his name called tonight. You know if you'd shave that chin strap might keep your helmet on a little better. Good job on the PAT's tonight. Ploucha definately brought his A game tonight.

Ha. Yeah that stupid thing won't stay on. I'm not gonna shave... a little superstitious I suppose. Plus I think I look awesome when my helmet comes off. Ha, thanks for the support.

  18. That is always a factor. Homecoming is supposed to be a good game that the team can easily win (in theory) so everyone gets a good game.

While at Boone, we were caught up in homecoming events and looking toward the play-offs, and we lost a game we should have won.

The coaches can do stuff to a point, but it is really up to the kids to keep focused on the game.

Believe me we haven't forgotten what happened last year on homecoming. We thought we were going to take it easily, and it came back to bite us. The week's events are great and all, but the student body can have those... I on the field on Friday night.
