Maybe slight upset. I would put wb as 3-5 point favorite on a neutral court.  It was a great game last night. Only person that could stop Caden windle was Jason Martin , unfortunately he is a referee and has a vendetta against the young man , otherwise great game by two great teams overshadowed by the poor antics of the karns players and fans. The AD has apologized but man you can tell they haven’t won very much

I expect karns to over sevier co, but wb will have its work cut out for them going to DB

They have won just as much as WB has.

Not sure, being a D-B fan, who I want to play out of this game.  Already played Karns and got it handed to us.  Didn't have the full roster for that game, but we would have lost even if we did.  Maybe playing them again, we've learned and adjusted.  Willy B has been one of the top ranked teams in 4A all year...

Both teams are really good this year and it will be a dogfight.  One thing that Bearden did last night to try and contain Caden Windle is to face guard him all game.  It slowed him down, but I still think he ended up with 14 or 15 points.  He is a great player and plays old school basketball....which I love!!!     Karns can really get it up and down the court.   Will be a fun matchup either way

Weird, I wonder if there's a story behind that?  Multiple players out for Bearden or something? Harden Valley is pretty good, but not that good.

HV was up by 2 points with about a minute to go in the 1st half and then hit back to back 3's (one at the buzzer) to go up by 8 at halftime.   Bearden then walked out of the halftime locker room with about 5 seconds on the clock and didn't get a chance to warm up for the 2nd half.  HV then proceeded to go on a 17 or 19 point run to start the 2nd half and that was all she wrote for the Bulldogs.  Bearden is in danger of not advancing to the Regional Tournament for the first time in probably 30 years if they don't beat Maryville next Thursday night.  They are a very young team, but this is very uncharacteristic of the Bulldogs that I am use to seeing.

from Dowell!  Makes me sick, he had nearly 800  more yards rushing and 10 more touchdowns than Bishop and a better record.

Based on the stats provided at the award ceremony today, Dowdell had 2500+ rushing yards in the regular season vs Bishops 2300+.   So unless my math is wrong, I am not sure that is 800 more rushing yards

Before playoffs Dowell had 275 yards more rushing and 8 more TDs than Bishop with 42 less carries. Dowell also only played 9 games compared to Bishop's 10 in the regular season. My vote was for Dowell, but I won't say Bishop wasn't deserving of it. However, in the past two years Dowell went up 1200 yards and 18 TDs and Bishop went down 700 yards and 4 TDs. If a kid is going to get it in back to back years then in my eyes they need to have a better year than the first.

Bishop didn't need to carry the ball as much this year as he did in 2021.  Karns had a good QB that threw for 1264 yards and and 17 TD's.   Desean didn't have to be the work horse for the offense like he did in 2021.  He still average 214.5 yards and 3 TD's a game this season.

It sucks that both were not able to get the award.  Both are very deserving and were the MVP's of their teams.

What a joke! In addition to the yardage Dowell had 40 TD’s versus 23 for Bishop. Nothing against Bishop , Dowell had a better season. Example of a city kid versus a kid from a rural area.

Bishop had 34 total TD's this year..... 30 rushing, 3 receiving and 1 passing.   So it is closer than one might think.

2nd half kick off. 10 Karns players gather at the center of the field. One stays on the sideline, just in bounds, talking to a coach. Quick kick to the sideline with the one lone player, that no one knew was in the game, sprinting to the ball and recovering.

Brilliant of chickenstuff? Could have changed the game totally.

100% brilliant.  Why  would that be a chickenstuff call?

Moral of the story… karns had a chance to run the clock out… bishop got his cookies took with 2 minutes left and Carter drove it right down for the game winning 6.

100% accurate.   Karns should have never been in that situation.  The defense should have been in cover 2 or cover 3 on that last drive.   Great game by both teams.   Carter players showed alot of class at the end.   Carter’s QB is the best high school QB I’ve seen in years.   Dude is an absolute stud and should do well the rest of the season and in college.   Carter fans and administrator were great.   Very impressive by their program.

So the last play should’ve never happened anyway. There was .7 on the clock when the last squib kick happened… ref never ran the clock and after coach Taylor showing his azzzz for 15 min they decided to do one last play even though the game should’ve been over. Can’t run another play unless there’s .8 but anyway on the last play the ball was actually intercepted at the 1 yard line but there was also a flag on the play for QB throwing the ball after crossing the LOS.

This is after the Carter coach showed his #### for 5 minutes.  Makes sense

Who are the other Karns players in your memory that were better than DeSean Bishop? I have seen DeSean on Diamond Clear a lot and on local tv highlights but l have not seen any Karns players in history close to him.. l have only seen very few Karns games but can remember some good Karns players from reading some newspaper reports on Karns football and other sources. Only a few players l know of that would be close are Marcus Hamilton, Dustin York, Mike Roberts, Ken Sanderson.

Devin and Thomas Harper were the other great Karns players that I can recall in recent history.

  11. i think he will do just fine.  I agree, hard time to hire a new coach right before the season starts.   Farragut lost alot of talent from their team last year.  Will be an interesting year to say the least.  District 4-AAA is wide open

They were there in 2014. Taking two different programs to the State Tournament is something a lot of coaches can't say they have done.  Who is to say if what happened to Farragut didn't happen that DB still wouldn't have won?  You are throwing speculation around since the last team to beat Farragut besides Bearden was Morristown East who DB eliminated.  Poore is the fastest coach to reach 100 wins in DB History and righted a sinking ship before he took over.

Bearden's coach has taken two teams to State.....Cherokee and Bearden

D2 really? Tn tech really? Ther schedule was nothing short of playing the school of the blind. The only good teams they played they lost to. I assure you they wont walk thru blackman or cookeville! Besides east tn teams are historically weak compared to middle tn teams with the exception of Bradley central.

22 point victory is a good walk through

They beat the 3rd ranked team in the country... Montverde Academy.

exactly.  I am hoping they just don't lay an egg like they did in the first round last year. This team was fun to watch during the season and if they play to their potential, they will be hard to beat.  Burgess coming this year was HUGE

Question for you then, do you feel like the rule should just read there are no rules we will look at every situation as it comes up?  There are guidelines put into place for a reason so teams know what they can do and what they cannot do.  If the rule is any player who steps onto the court without being subbed in by the official gets DQ it's not a grey area.  It also in the Rules that says even if a player doesn't engage in a fight or a gloried pushing match is what i would call this then they get an automatic DQ too.  It's not like this rule has changed this year and has been around for a while.

I 100% stand by this statement you made.  The rule has been in place for years.   I bet most people complaining about this rule would have no issue with it, if the rule was applied to any other team.   As bad as it sucks, coaches and players are aware of this rule.  People can complain all they want to, but it clearly states not only in the TSSAA handbook, but also in the NFHS rulebook as well.   This rule would and should be applied to games in November just as much as in March.
