  1. I believe that not only Hampton but Oneida have over the 361 limit to be in single A. In fact there are some schools in AA that have less students then either of these schools. Could someone explain this to me?

You're right. TSSAA does not follow those guidelines because in some cases you might have some divisions with a lot more schools than in another. They take all of the schools and divide them by 5. Then they start with the lowest classification, placing each team in a classification based on their total enrollment until that division has met its limit. That way it is fair for all schools involved. They do this every four years. During the four year period, if a school's enrollment increases over 25%, then the following year they will be placed in the next highest division. Remember, the previous circumstance can only take place if it occurs in the three year period between the mandated TSSAA reclassification years. So a school can start with a lower enrollment, but during that time if it does not jump over 25%, then that school will remain in the division it was placed originally. Hope this helps.

  2. QUOTE(LSMFT @ May 30 2007 - 05:16 PM) 826469231[/snapback]The must slide rule was put in about 20 years, if not more.

The rule book has no such regulation. That is a common thought among most casual fans, especially parents of the catcher. The only rule is to avoid contact, but it does not say a runner must slide.

Another rule that is unique: When a fly ball is hit, the fielder must be in the process of taking it out with the throwing hand before the out is called. Meaning, if an outfielder catches a fly ball and runs to the pitchers mound and just drops the ball on the ground straight from his glove. Then, technically the runner should be called safe because the outfielder never attempted to take the ball out with his throwing hand.

Baseball is a great sport where if you know all the nuances it makes it to be an even more interesting game.

  3. my parents said its cool they trust you, alittle bit. :thumb: i will give the number to J.C. first thing in the morning.

This thread has turned into a Jo Byrns make out session. Guys, I understand you want to workout but just call each other on your own time. I feel like I just saw you two kiss a few threads a go. I was using sarcasm in those last couple of sentences.

Truth is if you lose a lot of seniors it will take a small program like Jo Byrns a year or so to build back up. Even the most dominant 1-A teams have to rebuild. Trousdale did it this year. Friendship will go through it next year. You have had a good three years and the fact that your region is very weak does help you guys in trying to four-peat. Also since the region has expanded to a ten team region, Jo Byrns only has to play one nonregion game. Therefore, further strengthening the chances of the ole' Red and whatever the other color is (white or black) to go undefeated again this season. We had a very similar last couple of seasons in our region the past two years. For the most part, all of the teams in our region was horrible, therefore we have a stockpiled a very good region record. The good thing for Jo Bryns is you are the only competition you have right now in your region. But, to think that you can compete for a third/ fourth round playoff game is a little bit of a stretch. Out.

  4. alright, heres tha deal...riverside will beat stewart co, it will be a close game most of it...at least till near the end when the rebels will start to tire....which wouldnt happen if they would actually practice and condition more than playin games...and im with papatiger on everythang he says...sc coaches need to learn to coach...if not then they will have a long couple of years and will end up like houston county was mostly...except sc should win those jv games and if not, then they are pretty sad....but best of luck to the ones that play at sc..i hope u git good coaches in the near future....

I agree, but your bashing Houston County. Didn't you only beat them by 7 this year?

  5. Trousdale's roster at the beginning of the season listed 33 players, 21 of which were Freshmen (10) and Sophmores(11). Due to different injuries they have seldom dressed over 30 for a game. They play no JV games. Several Freshmen and Sophmores start on Friday night. Trousdale has always dressed Freshmen. Take them off the roster and there would be the 23 that you can't believe!!! Sure, kids would love to have a championship ring, but few are willing to pay the price of long hours and hard work.

Did you just read only part of my other post? Then it is Satterfields fault for not fielding a JV roster. If he has 21 freshmen and sophomores then that is more than enough to schedule 3 to 5 JV games. I'm sorry, though. Satterfield putting 90 on RBS is rediculous. I mean Goodpasture, us, David Lipscomb will win by 40 or 50, but 90 is when you are being stupid. Why do that to the other team? We could if we wanted to also, but we have class and Trousdale does not.

  6. The way I see it, do all you can to keep the score down, but only to a point. Send your freshman and JV guys in, but no punting on first, no running just dives. Especially if the other team still has their varsity in. The kids work hard to finally get to play and then they have to run dives because the other team is not that good and can't stop them. Sounds like the problem falls on the defense to me. If the freshman and JV are killing them with sweeps and bubble passes, too bad. I get tired of going to games and seeing the backup QB who is a senior, not get to throw because that may be unsportsmanlike. A team should expect no mercy on the field. The coach, as long as he is not doing it intentionally, should be allowed to give his kids the chance to score. They are taught to play to score, why not let them. Heck, if you want to keep the game respectable you might as well tell the kids not to tackle, I mean you don't want them to execute plays that can score, so why run plays to stop the other team from scoring.

Sattefield does not dress freshmen so that he can say he only has 23 players on the team. Do you really believe that a school like Trousdale would only have 23 players on the roster? Kids would give anything to be on that team, because you are guaranteed a ring in your four-year career. Satterfield has been known to run it up consistently throughout his tenure as a headcoach. Why are giving him a break? Here is the thing, David Lipscomb wins big every week, but their coach is not known for running it up on you. The reason is because he knows that once he reaches a certain point, he will let up. He won't through it. Satterfield will purposefully try to put 90 up this weekend so that he can send a message to the teams around 1-A that he is back.

Also, if your freshmen team is in and you are throwing the ball up by 50 you should be fired. Freshmen play JV to get to run the real offense, they do not play varsity to get to do it. Dives and traps are all they should run, maybe an occasional toss. That is the entire point of having JV games, so they won't feel let out and they get to learn football during the Monday night games. Freshmen must learn that you have to earn it before you get to play in front of the big crowds on Friday nights.

  7. Who are the assistants that impact their teams?

We have had several make impacts throughout the year. But, other schools in our Region have also. Adamsville possibly going to the playoffs. I am guessing their coaches have done a pretty solid job with that team. Their new offense shows that their coaches are making changes in a good way, implementing shotgun more into their system. Waverly is another school that their coaches have done a solid job with that team. Houston County is yet another school whose coaches have solidly turned that team around this year. HC's offensive coaches have done a solid job, converting to the various wing-t formations. Also, our coaches as well as Lewis County's complete coaching staffs have done another great job. Congrats to all the teams mention in Region 6-2A.

  8. Thanks for the advice, but you don't get to be as good as CPA and Goodpasture by overlooking people. Teams like that don't need warnings from message board posters like us. They are capable of taking care of business by motivating themselves. Believe me, they have higher goals than the first round or two of the playoffs, and they know how to reach those goals. Recent history proves that.

Congrats to GP and CPA. The past five years they have been on fire. Personally, it all goes back to being truly dedicated by their recruiters. I think Trooper Taylor worked for GP for awhile, so he could bring in a certain type of athlete. These schools absolutely deserve every pat on the back they get. I tell you what though, GP's coaches must be on needles and pins, due to all of the pressure on them to win because of all the talented bussed in from around the Nashville area. The reason I say this is because Alcoa is a public school and they tapped GP last year. That is inexcusable by GP to get beat by a public school, especially when you guys pay a lot of money to get those players.

Look I just hope that we can get past the first round against you Region 5 guys. You guys have convinced me that we are just country trash.

  9. I couldn't help but reply to this post since apparently no one will stand up for Moore County. First off the county isn't slow. It seems you may be since you can't correctly spell Lynchburg. Secondly South Pittsburg did have a great team in 1999 but was defeated 21-20 in a starters play only scrimmage in 1998 by the Raiders. Thirdly, Moore County had great talent and speed in the 80s and 90s. They have had 4 Mr. Footballs that I am aware of with 3 of them being runningbacks. I know that two of the runningbacks were recruited by SEC schools. The one lineman Mr. Football played at Purdue.

You can't really argue that this discussion should belong in another forum. This is about 1A ball so talking about it here is acceptable. Also about the criticism, if you can't handle it then you shouldn't coach. The man deserves a little of it. He runs the wrong offense for the players that he has. You are VERY correct that the team lacks speed and it shows. There is no way in the world they should be running a veer like offense with a team that lacks quickness and agility. I'm not saying that the team is not trying because I have seen two games this season and it seems that are fighting hard. The team has not been conditioned well and they lack discipline. I hope Camden that you can look at this objectively.

    SC News

Who cares how you spell Lynch-Jack Danielsburg? Wow a scrimmage game. You beat South Pittsburg in a scrimmage game. Did USA Today declare you National Champions because of that scrimmage? You know the Colts were 0-5 in their preseason games last year. Everybody was right when they declared them a bad team (Caution: sarcasm in use). Also, you guys were drilled by South Pitt. in the state game. I'm guessing South Pittsburg must have not taken you guys very seriously in the scrimmage then, if they can lose to you in a scrimmage and then blow you out 42-13 in Nashvegas.

Just for the record, just because you have had Mr. Football finalists doesn't prove that you have speed. You are in the middle of nowhere and you are complaining that you haven't made a good run in a few years. You're lucky that MC has ever had a run. Lynchburg is a small town where alcohol is produced. That's it. So go back to your Barrell Bowl.

Btw, CoachT needs to stop this topic, before Moore County haters started trouncing the head coach again. Please Moore County fans erase the hate.

  10. Papatiger some friendly advice. Coach graves is doing a decent job but if you guys want to get to Camden's level(I know you don't want to hear it but it's true)a few things need to be changed.#1. You need at least 5 coaches who coach only football, that way you can have a serious off-season weight program.#2 If your head coach has to coach basketball either he is underpaid or not committed.#3. Finish the fieldhouse, I mean come on Camden can build a huge fieldhouse with the public's money,Waverly has to have private donations because the school system won't give them enough money. Also heard the Jr. high coach was approached by a local businessman wanting to build them a workout facility and the principal at the Jr. High said NO!

You're an idiot. Who are you? You do not have to do it the Camden way to have things right. If our way was the right way, then freaking everybody would run our offense, play our defense, workout the same way. However, that system works for us, but let me tell you something chief. What would a Goodpasture fan say to you? Let me guestimate, "Well son, you need to hire 10 coaches just for football and do things like this and like that." You see, to people of Goodpasture and every program their way is the right way for that particular school system. Jo Byrns coach, coaches everything from Middle School all the way to high school. According to your philosophy, Jo Byrns should be terrible because their head coach does more than just coach high school football. To tell a school that our way is the only way to do things is stupid. We are not the proverbial state champions. We do not have the tradition that David Lipscomb has, but according to you every school should follow the Camden way. You are moronic. Waverly keep doing what you are doing because your system is working for you.

  11. I can see very well and am I mentally challenged? Yes, actually I am, so I hope you feel better about yourself. Just because Adamsville and Houston Co. have improved doesn't mean that anything should be taken away from what Richland has done this year. It seems to me you have some personal anger towards Richland for no reason at all. But hey remember you said I was showing bias by displaying playoff possibilities, I guess the TSSAA are Raider fans as well because they listed the same thing. :D

Region 5 is the stronger than Region 6 from top to bottom anyone in the state will tell you that. Lewis Co. and Camden have great teams, but do I think they are better than CPA and Goodpasture? No. I am hoping everything works out so we will get these matchups in the 2nd round. I don't see any upsets happening in the first round this year. Last year's Richland upset was quite a surprise, I won't say a fluke but it was simply a shock to many in both regions. I don't see that happening this year. Oh yeah and I see you failed to mention Region 5's # 4 beat Region 6's # 1. Right now Region 5 has a 2-1 record in the playoffs against Region 6 after realignment. After the playoffs are over I say there record will be 5-3, with CPA and Goodpasture meeting in the Quarters but that is just my two cents.

Wow, all of 2-1 better than Region 6. That is incredible, let us go ahead and tell Alcoa that they better watch out for you Region 5 guys. You are right, in one year you have shown the world that you are better than us Region 6 slackers posting an impressive 2-1 record versus us. My goodness with a record that astounding we might as well call you Region 5 guys, Goliath and us poor Region 6 boys, the proverbial David. I hope you guys are kind to us in the playoffs.

Hey one more question. You Region 5 guys are so far superior in football knowledge, I thought I should ask you a question. Maybe you could answer it for me. Did you know that during a game we saw a team throw a forward lateral and they called it a pass? Can you do that? We called them out on it and said that was illegal, but they said that you could do that. Really? We need some help from you two superiors: CPA/ Goodpasture.

  12. Like Adamsville or Houston Co. has proven anything. To be honest none of these teams deserve a playoff berth. It would be better if the fifth place or sixth place team from region 7 or fifth place team from Region 5 could come over and take their spot. The only reason any of these teams are getting in is because of Region 6 being weak from the 3 spot down (Lewis Co and Camden are the only teams I consider any threat come playoff time). You want to down Richland cause they lost to Houston Co., well Adamsville wasn't that impressive over Houston with a 7-6 win. So camdenlion, it would be advised if you would just keep quiet and stop making your town look bad.

You guys kill me saying Richland has nothing to fight for but Adamsville does. Last time I checked they are both playing for the same thing Friday night. So everyone just put your bias aside and see both teams have the same thing to gain Friday night and anything before Friday means nothing. The playoffs start this week for both these teams.

First, last year's Richland team, beat the Region 5 #1 last year. So tell me, what region is the strongest? Because, if you go by what these new regions have done so far you would have to say push. Neither region has been so dominant over the other. I might understand your idiotic opinions if they were accurate, but Region 5 has done nothing to show how they dominate Region 6.

Second, this year Adamsville/ Houston County have earned it inside of our region. They have battled from having poor year's last year, to have a shot at the playoffs this year. I have said this same thing in nearly every post on this thread. But, you are too blind and mentally challenged to understand that. Bring on Region 5.

  13. Which schools will have openings for the head coach or assistants for next year?

I am guessing that this topic has started because somebody else wants to say that Moore County's Coach needs to resign right? Get off it Moore County. Two things your county is slow, South Pittsburg showed you that in 1999 and your slow. It is really tough to win when you are slow and slower. Now, I am guessing in the 90's you had some talented slow guys, but now you have just slow people minus the talent/ understanding of the game.

This topic needs to stop for another two reasons. One, it doesn't belong here in this sub-topic of 1-A to 3-A. It belongs in the general football forum. Two, stop criticizing the coach. You had your run in the 90's, but maybe your luck of winning without speed is over. Speed kills and so does not having it. Welcome to the real world, Lyncheburg.

  14. im not tryin to start nuthin im jus tryin to shut ya up, im tired of the arguin and i think that seems like all u wanna do.....yes it will be a good game, iv said that for most of the year, i had richland pickd most of the year, but after they lost to houston county im goina have to go with the cards...they have a great thang goin and jus have a more of a reason to fight as far as i see it and i believe they have the team to pull it out as long as they keep from turnovers and stupid penaltys....aville is the better team...but ne thang can happen, but dont git ur hopes up

Regardless, all of this nonsense can stop. Richland does not deserve anything. They lost to Houston County, stick a fork in them they are done. #8, #10, #53 they are all done. They will give up. They do not have the heart to win this game. Richland equals no heart. They haven't shown anything to prove their heart.

  15. OK FIRST OF ALL THERE IS NO NEED TO BE AN HATEFUL ######, BUT IF THATS HOW YA WANNA DO THATS FINE, I AM SIMPLY STATING THE FACTS FROM MY END, YEAH HOUSTON BEAT US BUT THEY DIDN'T GET THE EASY GAME THEYTHOUGHT THEY WOULD, SO QUIT YOUR PATHETIC ******* AND SHUT UP!

SECOND OFF, NONRESPECT IS FROM GILES COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL AND THEY COULD WHOOP YOU *** THEY ARE NOT FROM RICHLAND THERE IS 2 SCHOOLS IN OUR COUNTY AND I WOULD PAY MY WHOLE PAYCHECK TO SEE THEM WHIPE THE FIELD WITH YOUR toe I DO NOT MEAN ANY DISRESPECT TO THE CAMDEN TEAM YOU ARE A VERY CONFIDENT AND GOOD TEAM... BUT ITS PEOPLE LIKE CAMDEN LION PRIDE THAT GIVE PEOPLE AND TEAMS A BAD SPORTMANSHIP NAME.

I did not use vulgar language. I tried to spell the word s-o-b in combination with the word story. Which means to cry, moan, weep, but coacht would not let me put those letters together. So, you back off. Looks like your language is a lot worse than mine.

Also, why would we care what Giles County does? Why would you bring up Giles County? It is your team, the Richland Raiders, who we don't like. Leave the region and head to Tyner's region. That way we don't have to fear the mighty Raiders anymore.

    Anywho, Go Houston County/ Adamsville.

  16. Woagh, Woagh, Woagh, there chief. Giles County would take you to the wood shed my man, so leave them out of it brosef. I'm saying Richland takes you too. Don't mess with Giles County

You think Richland can beat us. You have to be kidding. Please, do not argue with irrational comments. Also, for the lady's comments earlier. Houston County was winless last year, so stop your ###### story. You were beaten down by Houston County team that was winless last year on your Senior Night. Go Adamsville/ Houston County.

Also, why would you say that you could take us to the wood? You can't and you didn't this year.

  17. Actually, camdenlionpride, you got your underwear in a wad for no good reason.

Gerry said, in a nutshell, "This is how Richland can make the playoffs." Uh, duh, he's going to have to make some assumptions in the favor of Richland to demonstrate that.

Camden has a lot of classy people posting on here, like Lions4ever, that make the team and the community look good. You should learn from them.

Nice use of words. Duh, I like that. When I see duh, I think classy, intelligent, and idiosyncratic. I like the fact that you are still here. Leave us Lions to ourselves. We'll deal with the Region 5 boys when we get there. You still missed my entire point. I said it was incredible that Adamsville/ Houston County would still have a chance at the playoffs. Wow, you are a smart cookie. Let me put it like you would understand. Uh, duh, these two schools have had a great turnaround from their previous season. Clear enough.

  18. THE DUMBEST POSTER EVER FIRE HOLIDAY FOR NOT PLAYING THE YOUNG KIDS.THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS SC STARTS ABOUT 5 OR 6 SOHPMORES BOTH WAYS. THE REASON 8-9 STARTERS PLAY IN BOTH IS BECAUSE THEY ARE YOUNG. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE THE SECOND DUMBEST POSTER, 3 THAT DO NOT PLAY IN JV ARE SENIORS, NOW THAT WOULD BE AREASON TO TO COMPLAIN. IF HOLIDAY PLAYED SENIORS BUT HE DOESNT. BY THE WAY THERE IS NO DIFFRENCE BETWEEN THE REBELS JV AND V THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT TO ALL OF THIS CONVERSATION SO GET A CLUE ABOUT DEVELOPING A PROGRAM BEFORE YOU TRY TO ANALYZE JV AND V

I was wrong. Now this is the dumbest post ever. Why in the world would you not let your backups play in JV. Two reasons you do not play your varsity starters in JV. First, injury reason. Why would you play a starter in a JV game if you count on him in a varsity game. Also, kids need time to recuperate after a hard fought varsity game. They should not be rewarded with a game instead of another game. No wonder SC is awful, you are overworking your varsity starters. My second reason, you will not make your varsity better by giving them more game time experience. You get better through practice. You teach your freshmen game experience through the JV games. You improve your varsity through practice throughout the week. You see, next year when SC is relying on those few sophomores that will play, they will need to teach them everything since they did not learn anything from the lack of experience they didn't receive in the freshmen JV games. Trust me, if it was the best way then every good team would do it the same way. Waverly has a solid program that seems to be on the rise. If they say you are wrong and I say you are wrong (I am a Camdenite), then trust me you are wrong. JV is a tool to teach, not an opportunity to boast of wins and losses like SC tends to do with their JV games.

  19. I agree. I am not sure that Houston County coach deserves coach of the year with the things that he has had to overcome. Salutes go out to HOuston County for not giving up. After getting a win under their belt, they have played good football since. Who knows what would be happening had the field goal been good at the end of the Adamsville game.

I have said in another posts that the coaches of the year should be: Waverly, Adamsville if they beat Richland, and Houston County if they make the playoffs. In that order, should be the coaches of the year. Schools that have over achieved. Camden and Lewis County's coaches whoever wins that game. Bottomline, lot of good coaches in Region 6-2A.

  20. I haven't seen them but I did hear that they were big. They do seem to have problems putting points on the board, but who knows what happens on senior night. Pride is a great motivator, if a coach uses it in the right way. If they don't have a good coach, then this is probably a mute point. Still all said, Waverly doesnt' need to go in and expect them to lay down. They just need to go in and take care of business.

    I totally agree.

  21. I agree, this is a game that scares me too. We have clinched 3rd in the region and it could be a let down for us combined with the revenge factor and it being senior night. Loretto will be playing for pride and I think probably will play their best game of the year. I do think Waverly will win, but they are going to have to give a great effort. No one lays down for anyone. Remember, anyone can beat anyone on any given night.

I don't know guys. Loretto seems to lay down. They are not coached very well and Waverly is very well coached. I see Waverly wins this game in a rout. Loretto's coach has no control over them. Also, they maybe the biggest team in the Region. Can anybody tell me why they go 5 wide? Why not run it down people's throats? They throw more than any slow team I have ever seen.

  22. every one is counting richland out and saying they don't deserve to be in the play-offs but that houston county deserves to be in the play offs well i hope it does come down to a tie breaker and that richland beats adamsville and are the # 4 seed in the playoffs cause i want to make it to the first round and give goodpasture a run for their money everyone is counting richland out just like they did last year against east robertson well i think every one need to co back and recall the richland east robertson game where east robertson was a region winner and was suppose to win by like i think 40 and what happened richlands defense shut them down in the second half and richland went on to win 12-7 so i hope everyone contiues to count richland out and say they don't deserve to be in the playoffs because when richland goes to adamsville to play friday we are going to be ready its going to be hard hitting football all night and camden you may have beaten us this year during the season but we are just praying at richland we get another shot at you during the playoffs sure we may not be as good as the lewis county teams out there but when it comes down to hard nose football richland hits the top of the list everyone through the off season has been making excuses about how richland lost their great senior and their great running back dias well come friday night against adamsville we are gonna show adamsville we don't need excuses its time to play richland football and we hope to see you in the playoffs camden cause its going to be some hard hitting football so adamsville players i hope you read this cause i am #10 and i am going to be breathing down your neck all night long and we are not going to let up richland has the best defense in the region and come friday adamsville will see it

This is coming from a "hard-nosed" player who was beaten on Senior Night by Houston County. What a joke? Do not come on here and tell us you pray to get another chance at either us or Lewis County, when you can't even defend your home turf against Houston County. Don't get me wrong, I am Camden through and through, but I am rooting for Houston County/ Adamsville. Houston Co. is amazing considering what they have gone through this year and still kick Richland in the teeth on the road and pull out a game that puts them in playoff contention. What a great story. What a great statement? "You have the best defense in the region." Giving up 31 to the Irish does not show me or anyone else that you have the best defense in the region. I agree with you you are very hard-something. Oh yeah, hard-headed. If you think you are tough, then the Irish are freaking made out of steel.

One more thing, Goodpasture is a freak of a team. You do not want Goodpasture. You guys missed having them in our region a few years ago. Moreover, that is the attitude that I am talking about in other posts. Goodpasture is punishment to you hillbillies down there in Giles County. Houston County and Adamsville would enjoy getting to go the playoffs, but you guys would think you could do something since Richland has all of that tradition. Richland home of the 1987 Clinic Bowl Runner-ups. Wow!!!

BTW, why are you guys not in the Chattanooga region that only has 5 teams in it. That way we wouldn't have to hear all of your bull.
