Congrats Tornadoes! Incredible effort by Alcoa. Jahvin Carter is simply amazing. I’ve watched a lot of basketball in Blount County and he is the best player ever at Alcoa and the best high school player in Blount County history, imo. His accomplishments, both individually and for his team, are off the charts.
Lee Humphrey would like a word...

Doing it early does limit the draw. For example, in 4A Maryville could technically play Morristown East in the 1st or 2nd round because they are not in the same region. They were automatically placed on opposite sides due to Maryville playing Mo West who is in Mo East's district/region and Mo East playing Bearden who is in Maryville's district/region.

It has been a blind draw in the past. This year and I believe recently the matchups have been determined after conclusion of the region tournament once sectional games had been determined. They make sure to put common region opponents on opposite sides of the bracket.
I'm old school and a fan of the blind draw. I would also be ok with someone seeding the state tournament but understand the the reality that there is no such thing as an unbiased 3rd party.

2-AAAA is at William Blount on Tuesday night. Bearden vs Oak ridge at 6:00. Maryville vs William Blount to follow at 7:30. If WB wins it will be there again on Thursday. Not sure who would host if it is Maryville vs Oak Ridge in the finals.

I’d love to know who was there before CMB. I’m sure Jeremy isn’t sure about the history having only been there a few seasons. Does anyone know where I could find some historical info??

Parrott's first year was 2016-17. 3 straight state tournaments with a gold ball in 2019. The 2019 class were freshmen in Blevins' last year.

Anyone seen West play?
D-B has them tonight at Meadowview. I'm honestly not looking forward to tonight and tomorrow's games from a viewing perspective from those I've talked to who's been to the NAIA college games in that ballroom setup at Meadowview.
Guess I shouldn't knock it till I experience it for myself though.
West is solid. Very athletic. Play fast. Will run every chance they get.

The 2019 class played for Blevins their 9th grade year.

I'm aware of Parrott's record prior to Bearden.
You are arguing two different things.
1) Bearden has fallen off. Results say otherwise.
2) You don't think Parrott is a good coach. That's your opinion.

Parrott has taken them to 5 state tournaments. Won it in 2019. Runner-up in 2022.

Any scrimmages happen today?

Don't forget about Paul Maynard!

Marcus Huie announced tonight as Knoxville Central basketball coach. Most recently, he was an assistant at Farragut.

Knox Central. Anybody know anything?

A number of key plays could have swung this game either way.
Maryville missed FG
Maryville muffed punt
Bearden stopped on 1 yard line
Maryville 99 yard TD run
Bearden TD right before halftime
Bad snap...Maryville defensive TD
Bearden ball on 5 yard line...bad snap...interception

Does anyone know any details about the Science Hill job? I'd say this had to be the premier job in East TN 20-30 years ago. SH coming off a sectional appearance. I hear things aren't the same now, but their rival just won state...who SH beat in the district championship. It's still got to be up there when talked about top coaching jobs in East TN.

This is all speculation. Just playing out potential scenarios. We still don’t know what the decision is.

If its a no contest, does Oak Ridge get the other sub-state spot?
No. My understanding is Bearden would be region champion by default. Region 1 game becomes a state qualifier as the winning team would not have an opponent for sectionals.

I will be interested to see or hear if both teams left the benches. My understanding from people there that both had several players leave the bench plus several involved in the pushing/shoving. I am surprised the decision was to end a teams season with 1:30 left in a 3-4 possession game?! Makes one wonder if it wasn’t at Farragut if they call the game. Who makes that final decision? AD? Video shows Farraguts Principal involved..
I think it was the officials. In the video you can see one official giving an explanation at the table and then the 3 officials leave the floor.

Won't matter initially. If multiple players from both teams threw punches, both teams will likely be banned from the playoffs and placed on probation/suspension from post season play into next season as well. TSSAA will review video and could possibly reverse one or both team's punishment, but it won't be in time for either of them to continue this year. I do believe that they (TSSAA) could do a better job of realizing that for the seniors this will be it, and effort should be made to get this right in a hurry...in reality they will charge the school filing the appeal for calling an "emergency" meeting, and it won't be in a timely enough manner for either team to continue in the post season anyway, regardless of fault.
There was definitely some pushing and shoving but I didn't see any punches thrown.

I agree with some of these recent posts.
1) Fulton
2) Independence
3) Alcoa
4) Chatt Prep
That's my list when ranking the state champions. We played Fulton and Alcoa this year and Chatt Prep last year.
