  1. I'm not trying to be short with you, but read the topic. This is for coaches in 7AAA. If you want to start a thread for Dobyns-Bennett's district or the state overall, do so.
  2. I was just wondering who everyone thought would be the best/worst coaches in this district. I just thought I would let my opinions fly about some of them. 1. Oakland: King has been coaching for a while and always seems to have his team at the top of their game. Sometimes it seems he may not have the talent of the other Murfreesboro schools, but he always beats them. 2. Cookeville: Bray gets boys that do not have the talent of other schools to play hard and compete night in and night out. Putting it simple: if he had better talent, he would be recognized as one of the top coaches around. 3. Lebanon: This is based on Keil's coaching at Warren County. He gets his kids to play hard. If he can get the athletes Lebanon has to buy what he's selling, they will win a LOT. 4. Blackman: Woodson had them in the sub-state last year in only their third year of existence. The true test will be what he does without his three guards next year. 5. White Co.: Slatten has these kids playing hard and believing. Everyone on here that is riding him should really back off. He is turning that program around with VERY little talent. 6. Riverdale: This is based on history, not now. Usually Riverdale squanders talent with the best of them. However, this year, they appear VERY well coached and disciplined. 7 & 8: Warren Co. and Siegel: Turner and Harris, respectively, have been in their positions too little to really make a judgement. But, Harris does seem to be doing more with what he has than Turner.
  3. OK, I have been holding off on any comments until I saw this team a few more times. After tonight's game against Cleveland, I can no longer be quiet. This is simply not the same team from the last couple of years. The players are the same. The only change is the coaching staff. This team doesn't seem to have that fire, that desire to play hard, or that never quit attitude of years' past. Many times they seem confused on the court. Multiple times tonight the didn't seem to know what they were doing on either end of the court. I do realize this is the first AAA team the Pioneers have played and they do still have a winning record at 3-2, but this is a concern. What is the deal with no substitutes playing? The players onn the bench seem to be decent players. There are some I don't recognize, but they always do well at the end of the game. I'm not sure, but I believe Bishop didn't come out this entire game and a couple of other players (#33 and Marlowe) didn't come out very much. Cleveland seemed to have no bench and Warren County did exactly what they wanted. What does everyone think? Did the loss of last year's seniors hurt that much? Is it the new coach? What's the problem?
  4. Has anyone heard who they are looking at for this job? Will they bring in someone from outside or will they promote an assistant? When will the decision be made?
