  1. This new rule messes with the integrity of the game and should be removed.  I would understand if FIFA added something like this and NFHS followed, but I don't ever see FIFA changing rules like this.  I would love to know why this rule was added, maybe I just don't see a benefit that is there.

It is my understanding that FIFA changed to this interpretation last year.  If a player intentionally tries to play the ball and it goes to an opponent who was originally in an offside position, the opponent is not ruled offside.  The key is did the defender deliberately play the ball (it does not matter how well they play the ball).

  2. Thanks for saying coach Allen is best coach in Aaa. I thought the district was really tough. I see some station camp players playing hard. I think mj can win state championship. We have the best coach. I'm glad you are a mj fan. I am a proud grandpa.

Gramps, I think you did too much LSD back in 60's and 70's. No way MJ can win the state championship.

  3. Station Camp    3-0   9-0

    Lebanon           3-0   7-0

    Mt. Juliet            2-1  7-3

    Wilson Central   2-1   4-4

    Beech                1-2   5-3

    Gallatin              1-2   2-8

    Hendersonville   0-3  1-6

    Portland             0-3   1-6

Not 100% sure, but this is close.  The biggest surprise is probably Central being a little better than some anticipated.

    District action returns Jan. 8th.

  4. "

    1. Girls’ soccer student athletes may participate in Olympic Development Program competitions which have been recognized with the National Federation of State High School Associations.

    2. Girls’ soccer student athletes may participate in U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Premier League competitions.

    3. Girls’ soccer student athletes may participate in U.S. Youth Soccer Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) competitions."

    Thoughts?

Since I have only had boys playing soccer, I was not aware of these 3 exceptions.  I am a little surprised.  Do they have exceptions for any other sports?

  5. What has happened to Beech? Why are they picked so low. and why is MJ picked high. They had a good run late but I thought they lost everyone.

I think Beech's best player transfered to Station Camp.  There is just something wrong with letting a player transfer to a school 6 miles away and not have to sit out a year.

    MJ returns just about everyone.

  6. you don't seem very smart. The Falk can shoot. The Falk can't dribble, rebound, play defense and dunk. Wilson central is really bad. They could bring Phil Jackson and be bad. Station camp beat Lebanon by 40 last year. Station camp has 5 players considered for McDonald's all Americans team. What grade is your son in. When your son plays station camp he will see a real basketball coach and real players

I'm not going to argue basketball knowledge. I have just heard that Tyler from MJ has improved greatly. I said I picked WC to finish not dead last because of my son. I know they are very short on talent that's why he was able to return for his senior year. My son chose football over basketball and as far as seeing real players and a real coach, all he has to do is look at his dad and uncle. If there are 5 McDonalds all Americans on SC they will win TN state championship. Like I said TN basketball is not good basketball. I was born and raised in central IN and our high school has had more all Americans than this complete district will ever have.

yeldarb, don't respond to chickhot2 with anything that makes sense, because he doesn't. 15,17 and 9 are a long way from 40.

It will be interesting to see how Central does this year.  Last year's team was disappointing, but they should be improved this year.

  7. How do other states do it?

I think Kentucky has both girls and boys in the fall.  I would rather boys soccer move to fall if you are going to have them in the same season.

The statement about taking options away from girls is basically true for boy soccer players not being able to play tennis, baseball or run track.

  8. nothing. There best players graduated. Station camp will win first game against them 88 to 44. Who does Gallatin have. Heard Gallatin coach is retiring.

Actually, I think most of their players are returning from last year's team that made it to sub-state.

  9. Chickie and Real,

In your predictions you are somewhat bullish (2nd and 3rd) on Lebanon.  They lost 4 seniors who provided a lot of leadership and all were starters most of the season.  Do you know something others don't?

  10. Bond left because of frustration with administration (not kids).  He probably was ready for a change of scenery also.  He has turned down several jobs in the past and felt this was a good time to leave.  Station Camp will be just as talented this year and maybe better overall.  They will miss Kyle, but not as much as you will.  No doubt they are the team to beat in the district.  They shouldn't lose a game.  Time will tell.

They should not have lost a district game last year, but they did.  Mount Juliet should be good this year with all the returning players.  It is wait and see on everyone else in the district.

  11.  Taylor has already enrolled and parents met with the TSSAA to make sure they had correct info available so they could leave one student at one school, have another student at another school and both be eligible.

I am sure this is all within the rules, but the rules need to be changed.  If you play a season at a high school then transfer, you should have to sit out a season.  I could see waiving that requirement if there is a coaching change.
