The only STORY is that it seems like most of the upperclassmen who used to play would rather play the party scene than work for something worthwhile. We have 2 seniors, 2 juniors, 1 sophomore, and 8 freshmen in the program. It is a shame that the freshmen class couldn't spend a year on JV and then step up to varsity as sophomores like they should. I will say that I hope some of the coaches who have laid some lickings on us this year are still around when this group gets to be juniors. I would like to think that there will be some PAYBACK!!

Meigs County High School is starting 4 freshmen almost every night out. They have took their share of lumps this year but should improve the next couple. Eliminated Boyd Buchanan tonight in the District 5AA tourney 57-46. The freshmen scored 46 of the 57.

How come Gilbert transferred to South Pitt?.......

Hopefully it will be a little warmer this year. Look forward to a good tourney.

The second annual Tiger Classic softball tourney will be held March 16 & 17 at the Athens, TN Regional Park. Still openings for a couple of teams. Teams entered are: McMinn Central, Polk Co., Tellico, Sequoyah, Meigs Co., Midway, Sale Creek, Notre Dame, Kingston, Bledsoe Co., Johnson Co., and Seymour.

I know Brainerd, Tyner, and Central have the top 3 spots. And I know the loser of Friday's Meigs at Sweetwater game will finish 8th and play Sequoyah in the play in game.

Does anyone know if the entire district tourney is at Cleveland State or are the first two rounds at the home of the higher seeds? I know that's how the region tourney is but didn't know if the district would be the same way. The good old T$$AA has figured out a way to make itself some MORE money. Anyway, it should be one whale of a district tourney.

Meigs was within 10 of Central with 5 min. left in the game tonight. Central needs to cut down on their muggings if they are gonna hang around very long in the postseason. I thought Central's legendary coach acted with a lot of class tonight if you leave off the C and the L.

3 girls from this team played in the 1996 NCAA national championship game. Misty Greene for Tennessee and Rachel Powell and Pam Irwin for Georgia. Tennessee won 83-65.

I agree 5AA is better from top to bottom. Meigs and Boyd have won only one district game between them and I think they would have a .500 record in 6AA. Meigs starts 4 freshmen and has been competitive for a half against the top teams in 5AA, they just need to learn how to put 2 halves together. Boyd has all the ingredients to have a much better record, just need to play a little better defense and take better shots. Meigs just has to learn to MAKE a few shots, hopefully that will come with experience.

Yeah.....pretty decent........and 4 of their 6 losses were to eventual state champs. The other 2 were to teams that made the state. 6 players that played on the 93 team signed DI scholarships, pretty impressive for a smaller school.

Meigs County class of 1995 finished with a 4 year record of 128 wins and 6 losses and 2 state championships.

But you must have the tournament. How else will the T$$AA pay all their employees??

I said "at the top" and Tyner is not there this year. Tellico and Central should have no trouble with anybody except maybe Sequatchie.

In my opinion Sequatchie is the only 6AA team that has a shot at winning a game in the region. 5AA is awfully strong, especially at the top. Be interesting to see how these districts have done head to head in the regular season. I know Meigs, which has a 1-10 district record, has played only Bledsoe from district 6, and has split with them. Each team won a nailbiter on their home court.

When would you propose to play volleyball ??

Not so sure about Tellico being No. 1 just yet........Tellico and Central have 2 losses each and last I checked Polk just had 2 also..........

What's everybody's thoughts on this region? Looks to me like Tellico is the solid favorite right now with Sequatchie and McMinn Central right behind them and Polk not far behind. Will anybody from District 6 step up and help Sequatchie make some noise in this years tourney? For years District 5 has dominated.

Meigs Counties Tigers won the Midway Classic with a 48-42 victory over Memphis G.W. Carver High. Message to students of Midway High School: You better hope that neither your boys or girls teams has to play Meigs in the near future. Your behavior WILL be remembered...........
