  1. Do not leave out Nick Desio from Madison as an excellent player. He moved up front for Madison last year and scored 19-20 goals as a freshman. He went back to his spot as defender this year and played it well. He plays soccer year round and by the time he is a senior, he will sign with someone. Has a heck of a throw-in to the goal side. He never quits during a game. He will give 100% even when hurt.

  2. Let me say that it has been a pleasure in coaching some of the best soccer players in West Tennessee. There is a lot of new talent coming in this year and the years to come. I have been coaching there part-time for 3 years hoping to get on full time, but things just didn't work out. The girl's team this fall is loaded and should reach the state again if they work hard. Best wishes to them and all of the players that I have been around the last 3 years.

Madison`s soccer coach has stepped down. Eddie Poteete did a fine job of leading Madison`s 3 year program in both girls and boys soccer. The Madison girls team went to the state tournament last year and the boys came within one game of being there. I guess there is a job opening at Madison now. Best of luck and thanks Coach Poteete,

I am the madison coach. could you e-mail me at poteete1@aeneas.net. I need to talk to you or email you something that I need help with.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but we need to beat two very good teams to get to the finals. Right now, we are just concentrating on CPA. I know Catholic will have their hands full with CCS, and are not overlooking that either.

  4. As the coach of Madison, hats off to Dyersburg. It was a great game. Madison had it's chances to win the game, but just could not pull it out. Dyersburg came to play and play they did. Madison woke up the second half and give you a run for the money. Almost pulled it out.

Our guys showed more heart in that game than they have all year. They were playing hurt and still gave 100% at the end.

Dyersburg, as the only public school in the tournament, bring home the championship to West Tn.

Again, Hats off to both teams. Very good players on both sides. Just wished that we had better officials all around the field.

  5. I checked with tssaa before anything. They said as long as their club was not playing in season. The club in Memphis has lots of players on good Memphis teams. The coach would not get them in trouble. This is a team with college bound guys in the future.

You can practice with a club team or members all you want. Their club season does not start until the fall. That is the law. Believe me.

  6. You can practice with a club team or members all you want. Their club season does not start until the fall. That is the law. Believe me.

If it is ODP, it is allowed. (I don't know if it is, though) If it is not ODP, someone should check, but like the Westview situation, let's not drag a team through the mud on this thread.

  7. The way they pick players for district is that their coach will put their name on the board and all of the coaches vote for that player. Just because a player is excellent in footwork, scoring, etc it is also how he plays the game. Is he a team player? Does he gripe all the time during the game? Does he bark at the officials all the time? Does he show disrespect for the coach and other players? Does he show up at practice on time? Other coaches know all of this and win it comes to voting for a district player, it all comes into play.

I was just wondering how all district players are picked etc. Only me and our goalie made it from our team and Adam Meholic #5 and Jake Vanderburg#3 are probably two of the best players in our district and did not make it.

  8. It is a rule of TSSAA that a High School coach cannot coach ANY of his players on a club team in the off season. Any Sport. Call Gene Beck at TSSAA and ask. I know this for a fact.

no it was not. the team consisted of players throughout west tn

  9. Haywood- 2 players

    Madison- 2 players

    McNairy-2 players

    Covington- 2 players

    Crockett- 1-player

    2 goal-keepers 1- North

These are the awards that will be given out at the end of the Championship game on Tuesday, May 15 at the Hollywood Complex.

ok, the whole Madison Starting Squad and maybe 1 player from Haywood. You can't add any players from any other team, they just aren't good enough.

  10. The game will not be played. Two tough games back to back and games this past weekend might result in players getting an injury. Both coaches agreeded upon this. It is not worth it with districts beginning in less than a week. Both teams are really strong and if both take care of region championships and sectionals, both will go to state.

Does anyone know if the Madison vs. Dyersburg game is still on for next Tuesday, or is it postponed?

  11. Madison 2 USJ 1

yeah we shut them down on just regular play but like 3 of there goals came off unlucky flicks from ours or there players from throw ins and pressure wasnt put on the ball after that. They can work the ball around decently but none of them seemed dangerous up top cept their midfielder alex

  12. The player came to Madison at Christmas break. At the time, JCM was going to have a team. He came to Madison last year and stayed 1 day and went back to JCM. If he had stayed, he would be playing now. He knew when he came at Christmas that he would have to set the season out until tournament play.

TSSAA rules state that a school must not have a program for four years before a player from that school can play for another school, and then there are more rules involved in that case. They do this for a very good reason. It keeps teams from being loaded every other year and so on. So no, he did not switch schools just because JCM didn't have a team. Get your facts right before you post.

  13. When Haywood played Trenton, all of their best players were not there. They had some kind of school activity going on that day. Coach himself told me that.

Covington game I don't know. I know covington has a lot of football players on the team and it was a rough game.

Also, Haywood is good on their short field, and I do mean short field. If Madison and Haywood gets a chance to play each other again, it will be on Madison's home field in the Region championship. It is a large, large field compared to a small field. Makes a difference when passing the ball. The chemistry will be there by May 15. Like I posted before, there will not be a district tournament. Sheffield has nobody to play. There will be a region tournament only. Games should not be on fields that are too small. Also, Madison was missing there 3 year starter at Keeper because of a car accident. He is fine.

I just cant believe that Haywood is that good after only beating covington and trenton 3-2, so I just figure Madison is overrated. I dont think they win this district this year and I think they will lose to sheffield in the region semis. Sorry fellas, yall just are getting too many injuries and the chemistry just wont be there come tournament time.

  14. Are you getting the TSSAA bracket at end of the year and the Best of The West tournament held at USJ week after next mixed up? I don't know of any tournament the TSSAA will put on their website except the spring fling at the end of May.

?where? i've been all over the website and I cant find ANY mid-season tournament information for anybody. where exactly on tssaa is it? There is only district and regional information

  15. Yes, there is a chance that if Madison takes care of business and USJ take care of business, then they would meet in the semi-final. Same with Dyersburg and Sheffield. They could meet on the other side of the bracket in the semi-final.

will the winner of Madison and USJ groups meet in the semis?

  16. Sheffield will not get an automatic bid. The loser of the Haywood and Madison game must have Sheffield come in on there side of the post-tournament. So, Haywood could have to play Sheffield in the semi-finals game or Madison would have to play them in the semi-final game. There will not be a district tournament in District 15. There will only be a region tournament. Sheffield is the only team in District 16. You must have at least 2 teams to have a tournament. There is no automatic birth to the region. TSSAA rules.

Here are my predictions for the District, Region, and Sub-state for A/AA in West Tennessee. Make of it what you want.

    District Championship: D'burg-3 Westview-0; USJ-5 Northside-0; Madison-3 Haywood-1; Sheffield(automatic birth to region semis)

    Region Semi: D'burg-4 Northside-0; USJ-1 Westview-2; Sheffield-3 Haywood-2 Madison(automatic birth to Region championship)

    Region Final: D'burg-3 Westview-2; Sheffield-2 Madison-3

    Sub-State: D'burg-2 Sheffield-1; Madison-4 Westview-2

    State: Dyerburg

    Madison
