  1. Madison 0 McNairy 1 I assume we just lost our number 10 ranking by Eurosport. I cannto believe we lost this game. A home game at that. oh well, looks like we have a long road ahead of us this year.
  2. Do not leave out Nick Desio from Madison as an excellent player. He moved up front for Madison last year and scored 19-20 goals as a freshman. He went back to his spot as defender this year and played it well. He plays soccer year round and by the time he is a senior, he will sign with someone. Has a heck of a throw-in to the goal side. He never quits during a game. He will give 100% even when hurt.
  3. Let me say that it has been a pleasure in coaching some of the best soccer players in West Tennessee. There is a lot of new talent coming in this year and the years to come. I have been coaching there part-time for 3 years hoping to get on full time, but things just didn't work out. The girl's team this fall is loaded and should reach the state again if they work hard. Best wishes to them and all of the players that I have been around the last 3 years.
  4. BIG e I am the madison coach. could you e-mail me at poteete1@aeneas.net. I need to talk to you or email you something that I need help with.
  5. As the coach of Madison, hats off to Dyersburg. It was a great game. Madison had it's chances to win the game, but just could not pull it out. Dyersburg came to play and play they did. Madison woke up the second half and give you a run for the money. Almost pulled it out. Our guys showed more heart in that game than they have all year. They were playing hurt and still gave 100% at the end. Dyersburg, as the only public school in the tournament, bring home the championship to West Tn. Again, Hats off to both teams. Very good players on both sides. Just wished that we had better officials all around the field. Madison Coach
  6. The way they pick players for district is that their coach will put their name on the board and all of the coaches vote for that player. Just because a player is excellent in footwork, scoring, etc it is also how he plays the game. Is he a team player? Does he gripe all the time during the game? Does he bark at the officials all the time? Does he show disrespect for the coach and other players? Does he show up at practice on time? Other coaches know all of this and win it comes to voting for a district player, it all comes into play.
  7. It is a rule of TSSAA that a High School coach cannot coach ANY of his players on a club team in the off season. Any Sport. Call Gene Beck at TSSAA and ask. I know this for a fact.
  8. Haywood- 2 players Madison- 2 players McNairy-2 players Covington- 2 players Chester Co- 1 player South Side -1 player Ripley- 1 player Crockett- 1-player 2 goal-keepers 1- North 1 South 1 MVP from the South Side of the District 1 MVP from the North Side of the District 1 coach of the year These are the awards that will be given out at the end of the Championship game on Tuesday, May 15 at the Hollywood Complex.
  9. Did they play on Thursday May 4? If so, who won?
  10. The game will not be played. Two tough games back to back and games this past weekend might result in players getting an injury. Both coaches agreeded upon this. It is not worth it with districts beginning in less than a week. Both teams are really strong and if both take care of region championships and sectionals, both will go to state.
  11. The player came to Madison at Christmas break. At the time, JCM was going to have a team. He came to Madison last year and stayed 1 day and went back to JCM. If he had stayed, he would be playing now. He knew when he came at Christmas that he would have to set the season out until tournament play. TSSAA rules state that a school must not have a program for four years before a player from that school can play for another school, and then there are more rules involved in that case. They do this for a very good reason. It keeps teams from being loaded every other year and so on. So no, he did not switch schools just because JCM didn't have a team. Get your facts right before you post.
  12. When Haywood played Trenton, all of their best players were not there. They had some kind of school activity going on that day. Coach himself told me that. Covington game I don't know. I know covington has a lot of football players on the team and it was a rough game. Also, Haywood is good on their short field, and I do mean short field. If Madison and Haywood gets a chance to play each other again, it will be on Madison's home field in the Region championship. It is a large, large field compared to a small field. Makes a difference when passing the ball. The chemistry will be there by May 15. Like I posted before, there will not be a district tournament. Sheffield has nobody to play. There will be a region tournament only. Games should not be on fields that are too small. Also, Madison was missing there 3 year starter at Keeper because of a car accident. He is fine.
  13. Are you getting the TSSAA bracket at end of the year and the Best of The West tournament held at USJ week after next mixed up? I don't know of any tournament the TSSAA will put on their website except the spring fling at the end of May.
  14. You played us in the Jam. Remember the fight? Madison
  15. It means you will have to beat everyone in your bracket, including USJ. With your defense, you could do it. Have to play very hard and very physical.
  16. Yes, there is a chance that if Madison takes care of business and USJ take care of business, then they would meet in the semi-final. Same with Dyersburg and Sheffield. They could meet on the other side of the bracket in the semi-final.
  17. Sheffield will not get an automatic bid. The loser of the Haywood and Madison game must have Sheffield come in on there side of the post-tournament. So, Haywood could have to play Sheffield in the semi-finals game or Madison would have to play them in the semi-final game. There will not be a district tournament in District 15. There will only be a region tournament. Sheffield is the only team in District 16. You must have at least 2 teams to have a tournament. There is no automatic birth to the region. TSSAA rules.
  18. MADISON 46 OS 19 3 MINUTES LEFT
  19. Everybody overlooking Madison. Look who is going to the semi-finals. 3rd year school. Madison 35 Oliver springs 15 4th quarter starting. GO MUSTANGS
  20. Madison by 16 with 1 minute in 3rd.
  21. The game with Henry County was out of hand within the first 2 minutes, when their number 13 tried to body slam our midfielder #3. It was the same number 13 that was slide tackled by a defender in front of David Rhom, head of the west Tn. officials. It was a legal good slide tackle. The head of the officials said that it was a good tackle. The Henry county player #13 started hitting the Madison Defender in back of the head with his fist as the defender was laying face down. Would you not defend yourself? They were looking for an excuse to leave. The coach took his hotheads and went to the bus. Madison Players stayed on the field. Madison is physical and soccer is a contact sport. The Henry County coach was whinning when the game started about contact. Maybe they need to take up knitting and forget about soccer this year.
  22. There are a lot of schools in district 16, but only Sheffield has a soccer team. In the past, some of those schools have had a soccer team. More teams are upset about this. In the girls season, Sheffield created a team for tournament play only. This can be done. It was told to the tournament director 2 weeks before district tournaments was to begin. They will not combine the two districts. If one of the other schools can be talked into having a soccer team, then they can have a district tournament.
