  1. I thought that Northwest hired Bryan Johnson as it's principal?  He was a very good football coach who jumped into adminsitration at a very early age.  He has been pipelined into adm in fast track fashion.  If there is any principal in Clarksville who wants to succeed at sports..........it would be Johnson.

The problem at Northwest is a serious talent gap between what they have in the halls and what schools like Rossview, Kenwood, Northeast, and Clarksville have in the halls.  West Creek has good talent in their halls as well.

  2. Kenwood has the talent bench and ballhanders to compete Cheatham dose not. I'm being generous with the 20 points. Cheatham played there best game of the year against Kenwood, Kenwood played there worst.

Kenwood did not play "horrible" at all vs Cheatham County.  They didn't play great by any means but they didn't play awful.  Hairston shot the ball extremely well in the game.  Norl and Saunders pretty much evened each other out in the game.  Darden outplayed Rivers in that particular game but in most meetings you would have to say that those two guys would even one another out.  The difference maker in the game was a "ball handler" for the Cubs named Wesley Harlan who had a field day.  CPA "may" beat Cheatham County but it won't be by 20+.  The only way that happens is if Saunders, Harlan, or Darden:

    a.)  have the flu

    b.)  get suspended

c.)  get kidnapped before the tip

    d.)  get injured during warm-ups

e.)  get injured during the game

f.)   get thrown out of the game

g.)  get in early foul trouble and 2 of the 3 have to sit the majority of the game

h.)  miss the bus (assuming the game is not at CCCHS)

The list of possibilities is endless.  I would love to see CPA play Cheatham in a game where everyone is healthy, the game is called fairly, and the boys on the floor get to decide the outcome.

I would like to see the same type of game between Kenwood and Henry County.

  3. CPA, Southside, and Haywood!!! Everybody else is just wishing!!!! Just my thought!!! :popcorneater:

    The polls today had:

    1.)  CPA

    2.)  Haywood

    3.)  Jackson South Side (tie)

    3.)  Cheatham County (tie)

If the state could make these 4 teams not meet until the semifinal round of the state tourney it would be an awesome day of Class AA basketball.

  4. That what they said when I predicted the cascade game a few weeks back "CPA beats cascade by at least 20 but realistically it will be by 30 or 40 with the starters resting in the 4th". Basketball is about match ups not records. Can you give me one advantage CC has over CPA because I can't think of one

I picked CPA would win by 50+ too if you remember.  Cascade is an impressive win but let's not get carried away now.  The Cubs beat Cascade by 20 last year in the Watertown Christmas Tournament and played very "flat" in the game.  The next night the Cubs beat Watertown by 50 in the same tourney.

I never said Cheatham was "better" than CPA as a team.  I simply said that Cheatham's starting five was better overall.  Cheatham doesn't go very deep on the bench and if they are in a situation where 1-2-3 get in foul trouble then they will be in trouble.

1 through 5 though I'd take the Cubs over your beloved CPA team.  Sorry if that stings.

  5. 2011-2012:  24-8; 2012-2013:  27-4; 2013-2014:  15-0

Remaining Schedule:  Harpeth, White House, Greenbrier, WH-Heritage, Sycamore (x2)

The Cubs are going for their third consecutive district championship.  They've won a district tourney.  They've won a region tourney.  It would be a remarkable accomplishment if the Cubs were able to get to the State Tournament.  They made it to the substate last year.  Harpeth has made it to the substate as well recently.  Sycamore advanced to the substate for three straight years.  Throughout that whole period of time sports in the county as a whole has seen change across the board.  Good coaches have left and went on to success at new jobs and are better for it.  New coaches have came into the system and are now leaving their stamp on the student-athletes.  I think that it would be great if the Cubs could end this three year run of success with a trip to play on the biggest stage.

  6. In order to slow down CPA you have to know what they do. They are a power/buck 3 wide pistol team that plays with a blocking back. They'll target their stud receiver in the passing game. They love to run the smash and throw the hitch to him. When they put him in the slot they like to throw the ball vertically to him. On defense their linemen are big and physical but what makes them go is their safeties. They get downhill and play the off tackle game well against the run. They'll roll the secondary to motion and mix up coverages well. They're not complicated in scheme but they do have great players and the fact that they don't do much makes them very good.

  7. Also congratulations to Montrell Pardue (NE) and Bruno Reagan (CHS) for also representing 10AAA in East / West All Star Game.

There were some great players in the district this year. Many of them (especially from Henry County, Rossview, and Kenwood) return in 2014 as well.

As for this week's game I am rooting for the Northeast Eagles to win! They were clearly the class of Quad 3 and deserve to represent the midstate for the 5A state title.

  8. Well after reading this article I would say it is pretty easy to figure out why they were ejected the officals were from Memphis and who do they play in the championship game, a Memphis University School. See link below!

    http://www.tennessean.com/article/20131123/SPORTS07/311230079/Ricky-Bowers-top-assistant-likely-miss-Ensworth-title-game?nclick_check=1

Here are a cuople of quotes from the article.

Ensworth is likely to be without coach Ricky Bowers and his top assistant for the Dec. 5 Division II-AA championship gameicon1.png against Memphis University School.

Childress said the game report submitted by Lloyd, head of the Memphis-based Mid-South Football Officials Association crew that was assigned to the contest, will be reviewed Monday and a final decision will be reached.

Anybody see any motive to these ejections.

I see Bernard overturning the ejection. I'm sure he'll do so for the right reasons and not because he got "convinced" (read between the lines) by the elite people at mighty Ensworth.

  9. You make a few good points, and some points that are very much debatable. I grew up in a small town and currently live in a small town. So, don't tell me about small town living, for I know it. However, you have many more points of focus that I do not currently have the time to explore, for I will digress as well. Besides, the wife is winking at me, so I gotta run.

Doyle's band starts playing in the backyard at 10PM sharp. Tell Carl don't be late.

  10. Cheap shot for sure but why did the commentator need to take shots at UT? "Have fun losing in Rocky Top". (?) Ironically he made the comment while blasting someone else on class.

That's what hypocritical stuck up private school nerds do. They say "class" and then show anything but class. I hate all privates. CPA, Ensworth, BA, MBA, etc. They're all spineless!
