South Greene looks great. Who else is in the mix? I think several teams are kind of bunched up. In no certain order:
Gibbs
Unicoi
Elizabethton
Loudon
Stone Memorial
Seymour
Fulton
Pigeon Forge

Been out of the area for awhile but then moved back. They were so good a few years ago, but some of the scores have shocked me this year. Are they not as good? I remember them having 2 or 3 really good guards.

Moved back into town and just wondering who would be good around the Knoxville area.

Will he be back in time for the tournaments? Did he dislocate his shoulder?
-
Who does he play AAU ball with?
-
Is that a put-down of the Y and Travs?

Will this one be better than Nike Memorial Day?

which substate are you playing in?
-
How many teams do the Travelers have?
-
You play in the Alabama state tournament?
-
I think SH and DB will win, but not easily.

The Tigers are not a Nike team. The only Nike teams in Tennessee are the Memphis YOMCA and the Tennessee Travelers.

High school coaching, except for a few places, is a no-win situation. Too many kids and parents are selfish, and it's not politically correct for administrators to back up the coach. It's a societal problem, and it's going to get worse.

Too many parents living in fantasyland about how good their kids really are...too many parents who don't know anything about basketball are causing trouble...too many soft kids who can't take tough coaching...not enough talent to win in that district.
-
Pigeon Forge has a very good team and are very well coached. I think they will win their district. But if they played in either of the AAA districts, they would be a 4th/5th-place type team. If they played in the other AA district, they would have shot at 3rd and would still be a region tournament team.

I don't even know who the coach is and I support him. This kind of mess is going on too many places and is ruining high school sports. Sounds like a bunch of crazy parents to me

Who do these guys play AAU for? Do any of them play for any of the real good teams?
-
Lee Humphrey - East Tennessee
Corey Brewer - Middle Tennessee
Florida - national champs
different animal?

First of all, Pearl hasn't signed anybody from Memphis. Chism is from Jackson, and he missed on Thaddeus Young and Maurice Miller.
As for local guys, if Pearl recruited exclusively in East Tennessee, Tennessee couldn't compete in the SEC. There are good players to come out of ET, but not as many as in other parts of the state. Lee Humphrey and Jajuan Smith are ET guys, and they are both very good SEC players. Wiggins is an SEC player. His stock was rising this spring before he got hurt. Terrance Oglesby signed with Clemson and Omar Wattad is a Georgetown committment. Tony White is playing a lot of minutes at College of Charleston.
But most, if not all, the good players in ET are small college type guys. With about 3 or 4 scholarships per year, Pearl has to be selective about who to offer. I think his idea of building the walk-on program using ET guys is a pretty good one.
Knoxville/East Tennessee is not an area that he can mine from on a yearly basis. That's odd, because other cities of similar size - Little Rock, Tulsa, Virginia Beach, have much better talent. But there are good players that come along.

Clinton has had a lot of talent in recent years, but they were the most undisciplined, unprofessional group of kids and coaches I have seen in many years. Sounds to me like the AD is doing what should have been done long ago.

What happened to the old coach at Heritage?

Obviously there is some bias against Lester and Carter behind many of these posts. Not sure why. Fair to say that Carter wasn't playing to their potential early in the season, but they are doing much better now. Also fair to say Lester has areas he can improve on, but he is really good in some areas, looks like he is getting better, and is a legit D1 prospect.
Carter has really good young talent.
