  1. Seymour and King's Academy are right across the street from one another, so moving to Seymour would make sense either way.
  2. Pre-season predictions? Cocke County and West the top two?
  3. Jessie never really improved things at Seymour. Their record improved a little bit each year, but that was because he played an extremely easy schedule outside of his district, and they picked up a lot of wins over really weak competition. They never won a game in the district tournament, never made the region, and never finished any higher than 6th/7th in the IMAC. There isn't much talent there, but there isn't a lot of talent as a whole in that district anyway, and I think it's a little disappointing they never made the region tournament and never got in the hunt for a top 2-3 finish in that league.
  4. It's obvious that Science Hill is the best team in the region. That's not even up for debate. After that, there are a lot of teams that are about the same...Seymour, South, Mo West, Tennessee High. I'd give a slight edge to Tennessee High because they have the best player in the group in Ashlee Mitchell. All in all, I think the IMAC is weaker than I've ever seen it. I think whoever wins the league this year would have been a 4th or 5th place team in years past, even two years ago. I think most of the better teams in the area are AA, and AAA is weaker than usual. That would include Grainger, Gatlinburg-Pittman, Fulton, Elizabethton, South Greene.
  5. Hope I can get there. Be glad to come say hello. Came last year and got in without paying.
  6. Since this forum is open for people to express their opinions, that's simply what I'm doing. Every time I've attended the Panther tournament, there has been some kind of organizational issue, regardless of the site. I am not the only person who has noticed this. This is a pretty common theme running through the travel team community. I'm sure some others would disagree. Most of the people I have talked to would not. I saw your fall league last year. You had more teams. The other league had fewer teams, but in my opinion had better talent. I rarely go to boys fall league games. I do remember going a time or two a few years ago to see a family friend play and remember commenting that your team didn't look very good the day I saw them play. Don't see how that's a personal attack. Might come catch a few games. Might not.
  7. Been to this tournament many years in the past. Not very organized. Poorly run compared to most other events I've been too. Heard a lot of horror stories about last year's event from several folks who attended.
  8. Other than Morristown West on top, how does it look? I would think Seymour would be second pretty easily with most of their starters back, and probably Jeff County third.
  9. Are there any playdays/scrimmage days this Saturday or next? Just wondering where they might be and if anyone has a schedule.
  10. Shaelyn Brown at Seymour - whatever happened to her recruitment? Had heard Furman. Is that true?
  11. Two or three pretty good players on each team, then it drops off a lot. Not sure who the best team is yet, but the Sevier County teams looks like it doesn't really belong. Hard to tell early on though.
  12. I saw a few games last year and was really not impressed. There are college coaches in attendance, but many of them will attend maybe one particular date and will not be there for the rest of the league. Usually, there were 2-3 college coaches in the gym at any one time. The competition is ok, but most of the better players in Knoxville play in the league at Catholic.
  13. How did they do in their team camps?
  14. Exactly right. A lot of people don't see things that way anymore. Sounds like the case in Seymour.
  15. From everything I've heard, Seymour has a reputation for giving in to parents. In the few games I saw them play, I heard more complaining from the stands about his coaching style, who got to play, how much they got to play, who took the most shots, you name it. And these were games they won. I don't know if this one is true, but supposedly a group came after him last year and almost got him fired after they won the region championship, and this was over playing time. I've heard good things about Brandi, but it won't make any difference if two or three parents complain.
  16. I heard about the tire slashing and everyone I've talked to confirms that's true. Sad state of affairs there. From others in the basketball community, he's very well-respected professionally and everybody likes him personally. If they would listen to parents like that he's better off anyway.
  17. It is pretty sad if it's true he was let go. If my numbers are right, they won 39-40 games in two years and won a region championship, and he is still there is a teacher as far as I know so there is obviously nothing bad going on. I haven't talked to him personally, but one of my friends has and between what he is doing with AAU and with the Travelers in the new Nike league, he could care less. I don't know what happened down there, but I just know how all the other coaches in this area think really highly of him. If he left on his own, good for him. If he didn't, that's pretty sad.
  18. They also beat William Blount, Halls, Cocke County, Jefferson County, Morristown East, Pigeon Forge, Sevier County, Powell, Heritage, Alcoa, Gibbs, and Anderson County...they beat every team in their conference except west at least once and were 8-6 in their district, which was one of the best around last year. If they have three starters back from that team, they should be better.
  19. I saw their last game against Morristown East. They only started one senior. That was the toughest district around and while they did lose in the first round, it was the 4-5 game on the road and they lost in the last few seconds. They were 18-10 this year counting two HOF wins. Whether it's 3 or 4 starters, they still should be better.
  20. Division I. She should be very successful next year. Seymour has four starters back from a team that won 18 games.
  21. They should have asked Don his opinion before they made a hire.
