  1. Vandy, as I said above, your "accurate prediction" of our run ending at the sectional level came true because of the oddity that is baseball......THIS year. Other years we have been good but Farragut/Halls have just been better than us, period. This year, your loss against Karns put us in a one game sudden death against the best arm you have, and one of the best arms in East Tennessee. He was 1 run and 4 feet better. There are no other parks that our best hitter could hit a potential walk-off 2 run bomb 395 feet to dead center and it just be an out. Still, "that's baseball." To win a championship, things have to go your way late. They didn't for D-B at the sectional level, so they are done. It reminds me of 2000 when D-B had the fastest team in the state in football. They reached the semi-finals and played Gerald Riggs/Red Bank in an absolute monsoon rain that negated the speed advantage. D-B lost by a touchdown. That's what I mean, things have to go your way late to win it all. Farragut will have to find a way now to win at the double elimination level when other arms have to pitch. That's the anatomy of winning a title I suppose.

The Maryville Rebel football team a couple years ago overcame six turnovers to claim yet another state championships ring...point is, you don't have to catch all the breaks to win championships. You've got to have a few guys/COACHES who will step above the rest, making the plays when needed. D-B did that, but let's face it, Farragut did it a little bit better. Catapano is as good as they come for high school pitchers and you almost beat him, so take what you learned from this game and apply it next year.

  2. Nothing really offensive aimed toward Dobyns-Bennett on this remark, but it seems as if all year they talked of how the WILL make it to state no doubt. Now they have been beaten by Farragut and no one there can as much as congratulate them on their victory in a hard fought game. I would definitely like to see some more class out of a team than that.

    Good post, Vandy.

  3. I have never played D-B but what from I hear they are pretty good this year. Catapano is a good pitcher but I beleive as soon as you start getting hits against him that he will begin to shut down. We (Oak Ridge) has beat him the past 2 years and im sure not many people will look at OR as a good team. So i think if D-B keeps the bats going that Catapano wont even pitch the whole game.

What a match-up...Maybe the best hitting team in the area opposite the most dominant pitcher in the area. I give the edge to Caddie and the Admirals. It's a big game and Caddie always comes up big. Joyce will need to rely on his curve. Fastball isn't much. Farragut can handle Joyce. Admirals win 6-1.

  4. Greeneville lost to Science Hill 5-0. Why was there so much talk about them. Ive never seen so many posts in one topic. I guess now yal can stop talkin bout them.

no joke greenville you all stink 5-0 at least represent the district well don't go lay on your back. it should be interesting seeing who ends up on top next year we will look forward to dominating you

  5. i was reading some articles on tricitiessports, did jeff co really say they werent ever coming back to that tourny and that they would see DB in the playoffs? that sounds a bit arrogant, i cant believe they would actually be that upset.

half true...The Indians used a 5th inning 8-run rally to down the Pats in five tonight, 10-0. The latter had many defensive miscues, and the home team made them pay with timely hits and good at-bats that turned a close game into a one-sided mary-go-round. Joyce was a bull dog on the mound, winning his second game of the year against the Pats. Good luck to the Tribe Friday night as they take on Knoxville's finest.

  6. I don't know of any regional match-up more hyped than this one. The superior line-up would seemingly be the Red Devils, but ever since i've competed with/against Caddy, he's been the man in big games. If the Admirals plate 2, they win.

  7. who'd they play, Greeneville, was this lady blonde, i heard of a bad fan from greeneville

Greenville has some of the lowest class fans i have seen all year they are ridiculous they even try to start stuff with the kids who their kids are playing lets get some class before next year greenville

  8. Ask us about a game when you make it a little deeper into the tournament. 1st round games don't ususally have great matchups nor produce any real surprises.

I don't think jeff really has a chance to win the district but anything can happen i have seen you all and west play the most this year if you al play with the heart and determination that you all played west the first time you all can beat anyone but if you don't you all might be going home after the greenville game

  9. I've seen some very good goalies and I was just wondering who people thought is the best or one of the best in thie opinion.

Jefferson County is starting a freshman this year and he is amazing Carson Newman's coach was overheard wanting to speak to him after a game then he heard he was a freshman the kid is good and he will be around for a while and he might have a chance at being keep of the year in the IMAC

  10. Greeneville will play jeff county first round of the imac tourney...any predictions?

i guess it is just going to depend on which team shows up for both teams but it might be the best game of the tournament

  11. Science hill 4-0 over west, i just like the hilltoppers in this one, they've proven their a force to be reckoned with

If SH comes out and plays agressive against west knocking them around a bit it will be a easy win for SH west besides there defense is a small team and is easy to knock around but i think west has a little more tactical advantage it should be a great game

  12. wow bigtimeglove it looks like you really know what you are talking about.....greeneville-0 mo.west-0

i just don't understand greenville it is really bad that you all could not at least finish second in the conference especially with the talent you all have and the lack of talent throughout the conference good luck in the tournament though

  13. We'll see... I think it will be a different game and greeneville will be on top. And we DO have a good enough team, we just need to play to that potential. Greeneville by a goal (at least).

nope not a chance i agree you all have a good group of players but i would not call it a good team but i do think you all have done a great job rebuilding but i just don't think you all have the talent to match up well enouhg with morristown west

  14. greeneville plays mo.west again on tuesday...any predictions? I think it will be a different game than before

Same result as before greenville doesn;t have a good enough defense to beat west hopefully you all do better than before

  15. For all those out there reading this- thanks to the coach and some level headed parents - there was NO fight in the parking lot - just a lot of trash talking. Interesting though, the greeneville team was in one parking lot and the Jeff County team bus was in a separate lot on the opposite side of the the complex yet a Jeff County player found it necessary to go into the greeneville lot (amazingly with the encouragement of his mother) to try to start something. He was either very brave or very stupid.

The previous post is correct, the after game antics were because the game was not controlled well enough on the field. My son was trash talked and battered the whole game. He kept his composure and didn't retaliate but there should have been multiple cards in this one and they should have come early.

Also, Greeneville does not have this problem with any other team in or out of the district - just Jefferson County. It was the same last year when a greeneville player sustained a skull fracture against them. They play a different kind of soccer than every other team around. I am requesting our AD and coach look into this matter and discuss this with other coaches/AD's in the district to see if this is

yeah i guess jeff county is just a bunch of cheap hacks but i guess that makes all the greenville boys sissies j\k it makes no sense to me how a bunch of kids who yes probably besides cocke county have the least bit of soccer experience but still people don't give credit to what they have accomplished and yes they probably are the most physical team in the conference and some of there fouls are a bit outrageous but the refs are supposed to do something about that not the kids they just go out and play the game so go ahead and whine to your athletic directors but as far as i am concerned you go jeff county keep giving it all you got and maybe you bunch of roughnecks can get out of the district because obviously everyone in your distirct wants you out cause you are to rough for them maybe some of you should go play football it looks like they probably will need your help

  16. Let me say, there were about two fights after the Greeneville Jeff game. Jeff county is a bunch of punks. Somethin needs to be done about them. Their coach has no control over them and its gettin out of control.

From what i have heard the greenville boys are the one that told them they were going to kick somones butt in the parking lot after the game and both teams were in the parking lot trying to fight so how would it be just jeff county trying to fight

sounds like both coaches could have got a little bit of discipline issues but what is the deal with the refs in this area the mw jeff game the coaches refed the game from the sideline and last night i understand it was just the same considering two coaches got yellow cards arguing calls last night i think something needs to be done although the refs had nothing to do with the outcome of the game it would just be nice to see consitently good calls as opposed to inconsistently calling bad ones

  17. Drew Story has improved immensley and will continue his career at East Tennessee State University. He puts the ball where he wants and messes with hitter's timing. Should hear more about him as his college career unfolds.

  18. Michael Tucker of Jefferson County is HANDS DOWN not only the best scorekeeper of his era, but of all-times. Never in my life have I seen a young man so determined to keep a good book. His work ethic is unmeasurable and unteachable. Occasionally, he likes to joke around with coach saying, "Please let me play." Of course, we know he must only be joking, but anyway, back on topic. Michael Tucker is not the most gifted book keeper, but his determination and love of the book keeps him among the elite.

  19. i think it means you are an idiot, or maybe that bigtimeglove (great name by the way, i guess if you consider 6 losses in a row "big-time") will not use denote again until after he looks it up. i win.

Hey, why don't you start a new thread. It could be called "Grammar Usage 101." Let us talk baseball on here, sir William Shakespeare.

  20. No, I am not a saint.

No, I don't have anything to do with Morristown West.

Now, what if you send your kid to school and the English teacher gets mad and starts cursing? Then the kid goes to Math and same thing happens. I just don't understand how some can just dismiss this action and say well, he just made a mistake. Teachers and coaches in high school are supposed to be in this for the kids (cause it sure ain't for the money). They need to act like mature adults and remember that kids are watching there every move. If you allow the coach to go on a cursing rampage just because you lose a game, then how are you going to discipline a kid who throws his bat when he strikes out? What about the kid that cusses out the ump for a bad call? No one is saying that Stansberry should be banned for life. I just said I agree with the decision to let him go for this season. Why you ask? For the reasons I just mentioned. There is no way he can control discipline of his players when they have seen his actions first hand. If this is first incident (which I doubt because of other poster saying it's not) then maybe he should be allowed back as head coach next year. If he has a history of these actions, then I wouldn't want him coaching my child. I want my child to learn how to win and lose with class. I want my child to learn there is a right and wrong way to act. Don't you?

If the administration thinks there are other adults better fit to discipline and mold these kids, why is Stansbury still allowed to teach at the school where he associates with many more teenagers than he does on the baseball diamond? Give me a break, the administration sought the easy way out, giving the parent his way. This is truly an example of a single parent holding a grudge simply because his kid wasn't a good enough athlete to play, and because that single parent handled the matter in an immature manner, coach Stansbury loses his job. I've heard the story from a reliable source. F-bombs weren't flying everywhere. Maybe two. His intentions were to motivate a team who just absolutely collapsed mentally.(which I think has to do with molding them into 'men.') Good job West. You lost a good one.
