1. It was sad to see the Obion seniors running off the floor for the last time. Those girls have given us fanatics a lot of great basketball over the last 4 years. Best wishes to all the seniors of Obion and thanks for the memories.

Ditto on the sadness and the memories. It has been so much fun to watch this group over the last 4 years. You are a class act, seniors and all the team.

  2. Need a revision 13AA swept 14AA

Could have predicted that that would have happned if I had seen post earlier. Westview is playing final four state caliber basketball. OC, GC, and Milan best three of four in the state. Two great games for one admission price; could just as well be seeing final four state tournament consolation basketball on regional level, with all four from same district. See you in Brownsvile on Monday night for Region 7AA girl semi's. Be there or be disappointed.

  3. Just like in Brownsville on Monday night with the best girls in the state fromm 13AA playing in the Region 7AA tournament, Dresden will see three of the best 4 teams in the state playing final four state tournament basketball on a Regional level from the same district. How sad it is to see one of the three best teams in the state hanging it up at Dresden in the Regional semi's! Northwest Tennessee offers some great caliber basketball for fans to watch. Other teams in the state will be happy that Union City, Humboldt, and Lake County (no order intended) keep beating up on each other before they progress any farther.

  4. I am not surprised that all 13 AA teams won their 1st round region game, even if two did go on the road. OC had trouble with NS but that shows the strength of both teams. All four 13AA teams deserve to be playing for the gold as the final four of the state. It is a shame that that won't happen because two of the four will reluctantly be going home after Monday night. I am sure that the rest of the state will be happy that those four are meeting each other before they get any farther. Congratulations to all four teams, but obviously I have my favorite, so I take my stand with the Lady Rebels!

  5. Was a good game. Both teams played with spirit and for the win. D'burg, Milan, and OC all pretty even in the district from my viewpoint. THe winner of any of these playing each other depends on who is on their game that night. OC missed too many free throws and turned the ball over too much late in the game. But they still gave their fans some excitement as did Dyersburg.

  6. Was surprised to hear that the UC head football coach is resigning. Don't know him personally, but is a class act to resign for the betterment of the program. So much stress and pressure put on coaches to win, win, win! He has been with the UC program as an assistant before moving up to top spot. Wish him well whereever he lands should he decide to stay in coaching. HE should be a plus for any coaching staff.

  7. TWO of their best players are young...Their best player,Jana Roney,is a senior who has already signed to play @ Murray State....They also have a freshman you might want to keep your eye on down the line in Turner...But Greenfieldfan is right the two sophs Chassidy Fussell and Aubrey Reedy are special players....

They will have a tough time navigating through the always strong 13AA teams but this might be their year to go to Murfreesboro...Remember they won 17 or 18 in a row to start the season last year and didn't make it...

I would say for the Lady Rebels to go off and play two teams that went to the state tournament last year in both AA & AAA and those teams have 4 & 5 starters back including a signee with the Lady Vols(holding her to 1 point)and win by the margins they did it was a pretty good weekend...But it is November

They also have a freshmen girl named McKenzie Tucker that is one to watch. She led Lake Road in Jr. High to a 2nd place finish in the West Tennessee Regionals last year. Smart player and good athlete. Why is Whitney Williams not playing this year?

  8. Gleason's loss to Lake County in their distirct tournament put a burr under their saddle. They are on a mission. That loss happened at the perfect time. They didn't seem to like that. They have something to prove, that the no. 1 ranking was the way it should be. GLEASON will not be denied. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  9. I was told by an eyewitness that at the conclusion of the game, a DC player went over to the CC fan bleacher area and made some unnice gestures to the fans. A group of neutral fans winthin that area was very surprised and shocked at the behavior. It caused some lost respect for the DC win by these indivciduals that had to wintness such behavior.

  10. frankie D...Overconfidence didn't get to me....I'll get up in the morning, the sun will be shining, well after I get to work the sun will be shining and everything will be OK.....Just take care of business and prove to the rest of the state that 14A is the best in the state.....By the way...Way back in a post at the end of the district I said Trenton would win alot of the districts around the state....I also said I had a funny feeling about the Trenton-Lake County game tonite...I guess I shoulda stayed for it but I was a little sick to my stomach.... :D

A team that Union City had beaten by 14 and 18 points this year and another that UC averaged 117 points against in three games are in sub-state....Whowouldathunkit???

:) You are probably used to being bent over :D

    Bigster....All I can say is WHAT A NIGHT..... :)

At least there was one good upset tonight. VOLS over Gators by 10. Pat Summit was awesome in her support of Pearl and the VOLS. :) "Good night David" ....... "Good night Chet"

  11. Just found out there were two upsets at West Carroll tonight. Did the Atwood police have enough manpower to control things there after the games? :) Wonder what is going to happen at State now that UC and LC are out. I'm glad that I did not bet on any of the games! Carry the torch Humboldt and Trenton, cause you now have the burden on your shoulders to represent your district and your region. Prove yourself worthy of what you have done.

  12. I want to congratulate Union City Boys and their girls on a great season. Even though Humboldt has a great team and beat UC tonight, I still am totally shocked that it happened. My heart goes out to the Union City Tornadoes, because of their loss tonight. Obviously this just goes to show that you can never count your chickens before they hatch. ( and I really don't think they did) Let's just hope that both LC and Humboldt can play a great chanmpionship game in the Regionals and then somehow get to play each other in the state finals. Cause these three teams are some of the best in the state.

By the way THE VOLS were awesome tonight beating Florida.

    North Side 62

Anybody have any details of the game??

Don't have details, but I am rather surprised that Dyer CO and Crockett CO get to meet again. I thought FW would give a better game to Crockett CO than the score indicates.

  14. can the Rebel fans please start another thread about posting sentimental stuff about your team

i mean, it's real sweet and all but it's off topic

the topic is "Region 7AA tourney is loaded"

well you guys are not in Region 7AA tourney anymore so unless you are gonna comment on the four teams left, start your own Obion thread to talk about "what coulda been" and "just wait til next year" etc

A polite suggestion might be that you start your own thread. After all, VOREBS started this one!

  15. QUOTE(bhhvols @ Feb 24 2007 - 09:34 AM) 826387096You tell 'em, Unc!

Good morning to you, too in Athens. Do you think that UC can beat Gleason? I am saying that If Gleason's best girl is covered up as it is inferred that Gleason is mainly a one person team, that UC girls might win.

  16. QUOTE(VOREBS @ Feb 24 2007 - 09:14 AM) 826387079backintha...no i don't think so, she had blocks Thursday night, but foulded on those. The picture in the Jax Sun showed one of the fouls, that was not called. By the way, if you read that article in the jax sun, I don't know what game he was watching, but that is to be expected. NSHD...I am so GLAD to see someone agree with me on the fact that Ross is JAx NS's best player. Were it not for her, they lose. No blood no foul rule may be in effect AGAIN tonight, and even if it is, I still say D'burg will get the "W". NSHD....Good luck tonight, I'm looking at D'burg and the 'View in the regional finals.

I saw that same picture and my first comment at the Lunch table was that picture showed she was able to block because of the foul that was being committed. I don't think I have ever read a more biased one-sided article than that one. Granted, Jana did not have her best game, but the lack of ref'ing had much to do with that. I think Ross who scored 30 something in the losing effort to FW and Cliff are just as good or better than Delk. Also, one on one, I would take Roney's versatility over Delk"s one dimensial height anyday.

  17. To the Lady Rebels, I enjoyed you playing this year and giving your time and talent. You have left us with many fond memories and lots of excitement. Great effort AB and the best to you. The Rebel Train was out in force tonight and Obion Central's crowd far outnumberd by a 3 to 1 margin the fans for Jackson Northside.

Already looking forward to next year because of what you will have returning. As the saying goes "We'll be back!" and in force ready to finish that which was left unfinished this year.

Good luck to the rest of District 13AA and even though it is hard to lose, congratulations to Jackson Northside. I still say there will be two teams from our Region in the finals at the "Boro".

    FINAL

Congrats' to UC Tornadoes. Some closer that I would have expected. Question? If LC keeps getting to play UC, could they eventually beat them. If both schools keep winning, would there be two more times for the two to meet?
