  1. There was a very good crowd at Central Station when Union City played at Obion Central about two weeks ago, about 1800 people. Central Station is the name given by the pep club to the new gym at Obion Central where the Rebels and Lady Rebels play. The gym was full and both student pep club groups were yellin with pep. THe OC pep club is called the Rebel Train and stands thru both games with some unusual looks. It is fun to watch them in action as they support their team. I expect Dyer County and Obion County to pack the gym again this Friday night when the Choctaws come to The Station. Go Rebels and Lady Rebels.

  2. I would nominate a person for the number one fan by the name of Danny that goes to as many high school games as possible to cheer for Obion County Central. Danny has to be carried to the games because of his handicapped situation. He loves basketball games and is a favorite with all that know him. He goes out and stands with the players as they are introduced and congratulates them after the game no matter whether they win or lose. He may not attend more than fifty games per year because of his situation, but he dearly loves to watch the players and is always very supportive.

Second, if it wasn't for Jana, they may have never been in the ballgame. This is one team, without a their star player, that will have trouble.........

You take away any main player from a bb team and all teams may suffer. But The OC Lady Rebels have many good players that can step up as has been seen. And they have bench strength which helps in the absence of one plalyer being out for injury or illness.

D'burg came out in a zone in the 4th, and OC did take some time off the clock, a little over 2:00 minutes, and then were very patient with the ball the rest of the quarter, with the lead. OC spent alot of time at the line in the 4th.

    GO LADY REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jana Roney hit a ton of free trhows, maybe all she shot. Did she even miss a one and how many did she hit? Definitely going to be a wild district tournament with Westview having being upset by Gibson Co. and Milan only beating Crockett. Co by a 54-51 margin. What a tight and tough district!

I agree with you pride&tradition. I had this one pegged for a blowout as well. The atmosphere and enthusiasm reminded me of the old days of Rebel basketball. If they can give that kind of effort the rest of the season, they will win some games. Confidence breeds confidence.

Anothr great confidence booster this weekend. That's two in a row. Hopoefully it will continue. That 6th man called the "Rebel Train" was also at work and truly out in force. An awesome effort both on the court in both games and also in the stands. Keep it up Rebels!

  6. What a good boys game tonight between Union City and OCCHS. Turned out to be anything but a blowout. It was great to see OC boys step up their game tonight. Even though UC won, this was a good confidence booster for the Rebels to show that hustle for the entire game pays off.

And the 'Rebel Train" was truly out in full force with lots of pep. From the home side, it sounded wonderful. I like that whistle that I hear. The whole gym seemed to be full and what a great atmosphere it was tonight. Keep it up Rebels and the Rebel Train

    Congratulations to Milan.

    Heavy,

I'll admit it today, I've had Obion overrated. Its a wide open race. Milan proved they are for real. Amber Rechis has Westview playing better than ever. Its going to be a great district tournament.

I don't think OC Lady Rebels are oerrated at all even though you may have overrated them. Our district is just that tough with two teams from our district likely making it to the 'boro.

What happens if OC beats Westview and Milan loses to Westview? Then all three teams have two losses, one to each of the other two teams. Overall record?

WOW! What a district race. With Milan, Westview, and OC all in top 10 ranking of state and in same district and then throw in Dyersburg it sure does make for a strong district and exciting race into tournament time. It depends on who is on their game that night as to the team that wins, it seems.

    Final From Obion Central....

    Milan-50

    OC-47

What was the free throw situation for OC? To me that may have been a big difference in the game. I though Milan played good defense last night which really seemed to bother OC. If Central had hit some earlier shots, the results would have been different. Their shooting just was not good early in the game.

What's the word on the street? Are they actually going to keep Kail another year? I hate to see coaches come and go.

If I read you correctly, I don't think you are promoting changing coaches. Coach Kail needs time and the public needs to show patience. Last year shows he is a good coach. He is adjusting to a new chapter as well.

It is going to possibly take a few years for the program to turn around. The program did not go downhill overnight. Central fans and all those related need to be supportive of lthe players and coach as well. It is obvious fromm the win over Milan that the players are not giving up. They need many confidence boosters. Last night was only one of them.

I agree with you sls. I dont know what or when they teach those Obion girls but they are the most physical players around. Roney is the most physical of the most physical and she will do whatever she has to to carry her team to a win. Chantel has more talent but Roney is a better leader on the floor right now. Until Chantel takes charge every night that she steps on the floor then Milan will never be the team they are capable of being.

Milan should be the team to beat this year.

I am impressed how the Lady Rebels dive after a loose ball. They have also know how to dribble on their knees for that has happened a lot. There are a lot of little things that OC does that helps to win games.

Go OC Lady Rebels I pick OC over Milan by 11.

  12. Obion Central's Lady Rebels beat Dyersburg and 6'5" Ole Miss signee Kayla Holloway 48-42...Big win over one of the preseason favorites for District 13AA...OC improves to 13-0 overall and 3-0 in Dist.13AA play....

Obviously the Lady Rebels are in the driver's seat in their disitrict having beaten Milan and Dyersburg. Will be a really tough game though in Dyersburg when Holloway gets healthy. But then the OC Rebelettes will have time also to work on some things too. Where was the Dyersburg pep group that is so active at their place?

  13. It sounds like the Rebels are becoming like the Tennessee Titans. Finding ways to win when there back is up against the wall and have beat a couple of teams they weren't supposed to.

What a great win by the OC. Obviously the "never say die" attitude has paid off the last two nights. Each player playing their role as Coach Kail has said they must do is paying off. The wins may not be pretty, but at least they are finding ways to win. Three wins in a row has got to be a welcome Christmas present and

a momentum booster to both coach and players. Congrats to the team on the upset.

  14. It's never too early to talk about players of the year. But we must remember, its the best and most productive players that deserve this honor, not your favorite player or the most popular player. How many times have we seen posts that say,"this player is so smart." That usually means they are slow. Or "how a player is such a leader." That usually means they can't shoot. Or, "they rarely make turnovers." That usually means they can't create. Many times these statements equate into a player just managing the game and not making plays. Just a thought. So with that in mind whose your player of year candidate?

    J. Roney from Obion County Central in AA has to be considered from Northwest Tennessee. Even though she is a junior and on the team that I support, she is a quality player.

  15. Every time these two schools get together it is always fun to watch. Both girls programs are always in the mix, and the Rebs are looking to continue the good feeling with another win. GC is a great place to play, and will be LOUD tomorrow night. Listen, I think I hear the "Rebel Train" now. First district games of the season,.....GC/OC, what a way to spend a Friday night.

    GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally got caught up on all the posts. I get goose bumps thinking about the new OCCHS gym being known as Central Station and the pep club group being called the Rebel Train. I think those names are a superb fit for the new facility. :thumb:

I feel like I earned my wings as a fan and now have some of those nice seats on the lower side and love seeing the Rebel Train be vocal, excited, and into the games. I hope that comments will be kept clean as time passes and that the Train will grow as well. Go OC :thumb:

An observation and a question however from someone on the outside looking in! Why is the home bench on the west end of the gym and not on the east end. If the home bench was on the east end and the Rebel Train sat behind the home bench, then the cheerleaders could use all of the east end much better for cheering and also cheer to both sides and to the penthouse section up high. THen there should be no conclict with the visitors.

  16. I was disappointed. The reason- I turned it off after about 2 minutes. How can you watch a show with your family with the language like that on TV. I have a 6 year old son who just loves football and how can I expose him to that. I am sure the action was great but is that show a reflection of football? It might be but not where I come from. That show can give football, to parents, a very bad name.

    Just an opinion.

I was disappointed in the drinking that I saw ( I think that is what I have been seeing) as well as the bad language that is being used. WIth a show about football, you know that many teenagers are going to watch it. They could still have a good show without the unnecessary.

  17. The Bruins from University School of Jackson are very stout this year returning all top 5 members and 3 very good alternates. The bruins fell short in region last year but they were young, these kids have been playing togeather for 6 years starting in middle school. This is a veteran team that knows how to win tournaments and should win A-AA state this year if they get passed Chatanooga Christian, another young but experianced team.

I would propose that the Milan Bulldog golf team in A-AA is a possibility to give

USJ a run for their money in the regional. I am told that their five shoot 39 or less. From the different messages read, the state tournament this year in A-AA must be fielding a strong group. Looks to be very interesting.

  18. THE DRIVE FOR 5!!!!!

What a sweet sound "THE DRIVE FOR 5" is. B) Seems like just yestrerday that OC could hardly win one against UC. New to talk about 5 in a row is something else! :o GO OC!

    On another topic:

What's this I hear about a OC caravan not being allowed to journey into UC? I think that was a unique way of showing spirit and pride (if kept clean-I would always promote) in the team for tractors, etc. to make the journey. It is the county vs. the city.

    OC takes it.

  19. Murphy Fair will be on 104.5 the Zone in the Middle Tennessee Area tomorow between 2:00PM and 3:00PM and I beleive that he will be doing this all season long but I am not 100% sure. So if you want to know what is going on in High School Football Tune in.

Who is Murphy Fair? There used to be a person by that name that lived in Union City, Tn. years ago. Could he be the same one?

  20. Congratulations to Bill and Allison Kail of Troy, Tn on being the proud parents of a new baby boy. Benjamin Harris Kail weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and is 22 inches long. Alllison Kail is the former Allison Harris that played girls' basketball for Obion County Central in the years of fall 1994-winter 1998 graduating in 1998. A brother named Matt Harris played for OCCHS and for Murray State University a few years later. Allison now teaches at Lake Road School in Obion County and is an excellent young teacher. Her husband Bill recently guided Hillcrest Jr. High to an undefeated season this school year winning the county, district, and sectional tournament in West Tennessee. Congratulations, Allison and Bill, on your new baby boy and probably a future basketball player.

  21. According to an inside source with the family, Obion County Lady Rebel standout Abby Reedy verbally committed to further her basketball career at Lambuth University in Jackson, TN today. Abby we know you will do well and good luck to you with all you do!

If this info is true and it comes about, then I want to also congratulate Abby on her future. I only know her from primarily what I have seen of her and what I have heard. I have know her mother, Maria, since meeting her when she was a student at the old Hornbeak school. It seems Maria has passed her qood qualities on to Abby and as a result, Abby seems to be a mature, hard-working, and fine young lady. She has shown great leadership on and off the ballcourt. Lambuth will benefit from having her as a part of their program. Best wishes in your future, Abby from a fan that has enjoyed watching you play.
