1. QUOTE(wingman10 @ May 27 2007 - 09:33 AM) 826467966way early to know...but Soddy and Riverdale should be strong

I predict the same as every year, some players leave but others always move up to fill their shoes in a good program. We lose a lot but still I know we will step up and be a good team, so I would say in AAA:

    Hendersonville

    Beech

    Mt. Juliet

    Riverdale

    Ooltewah

Soddy loses way too much, but they have a good coach so they will return in a couple of years, Brentwood loses too much too but I predict the same for them.

  2. QUOTE(justchewinfat @ May 25 2007 - 01:31 PM) 826467005You have some great kids. Cat is one of the nicest kids around, and well respected for her pitching, but the few obnoxious parents including Swingaway and ERA cause most of the other schools root against you. Good luck next year.

    Sincerely,.....Mr. Fat.

Maybe I shouldnt say this, and it probably doesnt matter, but I know for a fact ERA isnt a Riverdale parent. He is a fan and he really is a nice guy in a joking sort of way. I agree he is obnoxious but he is very knowledgable of the game. He built a incredible devise he showed Club K that helped batters analyze their swings. He took it to tournaments to help girls learn what they needed to correct while hitting at games. Pretty helpful.

  3. QUOTE(youwilneverno @ May 25 2007 - 06:45 PM) 826467159What do the Lady Warriors have to be cocky about? This is the first time they ever even made it to the state. It starts at the top with the coach. Coffee Co. was cocky also and they never won a thing.

I think making it to state in AAA is something to be proud of!! We cant seem to get out of our district and I think we had a very good team this year.

  4. QUOTE(icecold06 @ May 25 2007 - 06:21 PM) 826467152I think it is more of a controlled cockyness it's not necessarily bad though. Riverdale is a sports factory and you can tell they are very proud of their teams. i think all of the Murfreesboro schools are that way,

I agree. I think teams like Riverdale work hard for everything they have and that is what makes them so passionate. I know they are loud, but if you talk to the parents they are really a great group of people. Do you know they paid for and built all of their facilities like their field and batting cages , all by fundraising. I dont think they get any money from Murfreesboro to fund their program. I also have the utmost respect for the Whitehouse program who built their own fields too. Their parents are just as proud. You cant really criticize programs like that of Cindy Towers and Coach Breeden. Passion for the game is not a bad thing and if it comes with a little " cockyness" , well I think that is ok.

  5. QUOTE(knoxsoftball @ May 5 2007 - 06:58 AM) 8264522943A District 4

    1)Farragut

    2)Herritage

    3)Marryville

Farragut has proven they can beat anyone in the state and should take the district with Herritage close behind. Marryville could pull the upset over either team if overlooked.

    3A District 3

    1)Central

    2)Powell

    3)Karns

    4)Halls

Central looking strong with Candice and should go back to state as long as the offence can score. Hard week for Powell before districts off the field but on the field beat West to tie for district champs with Central and beat a good Gibbs team. Karns can win it all if they get hot with Halls close behind. Great district tournament setting up.

    2A District 3

    1)Gibbs

    2)Seymore

Gibbs and Seymore only two teams in this district that are strong this year. The other teams are very young.

    2A District 4

    1)CAK

    2)Kingston

    3)Loudon

Another close district tournament with any of the three teams moving on but CAK and Kingston having the edge.

Who won the regular season in AAA -region 3 and AAA- region 4 ?

  6. QUOTE(stlbrd @ May 4 2007 - 08:19 PM) 826452009I agree with everything except MJ being the best power hitting team in the state. Don't get me wrong, they are a great hitting team, but they only have 2 maybe 3 "power hitters". I would be willing to bet that Beech has more home runs than MJ. It is difficult to rank these teams since MJ beat Riverdale twice and Hville beat MJ twice and lost to Riverdale once. Hopefully 3 of these teams will be at state (AAA) (only 3 of them have an opportunity to get there) It is a shame that two of the five AAA teams will not make it to state when any one of them could win it all.........Good luck to GP, looks like they might be starting to "gel" at the right time!

It's not possible for three teams out of the same district to get to regionals is it? It has to be the two best of Mt. Juliet - Hendersonville - or Wilson Central - or Beech ( or whoever) and once we get through that, the second place team has to get through Brentwood, who will be first in their district, Correct? Please explain how this works.

  7. As mechanics get better, and as a young lady gets physically taller and stronger both speed and control will get stronger. I have seen young ladies increase their speed in high school and in college. Technique alone can increase speed. Drop offs in speed occur most frequently in young girls that developed early and grew to full height by 11 or 12. I don't know why this is, it just is a pattern I have observed.

  8. I think if you cancel a game, right before it is scheduled to happen, unless the weather prevents you from playing it, it is a forfeit. At least that is what I have seen happen before. The games ended up being listed as 7 to 0. Hopefully not, in this case, that would really stink.

  9. "Vestavia,Hoover and Huntsville are 1,2,3 in Alabama 6 A. "

What happened to them in the tournament:

Alexandria put Hoover out.Baker beat Grissom 1-0; and put Sparkman out also. Huntsville beat Lawrence Co.10-0; Assumption 3-0; Clay Chalkville 2-0; Ider 9-0; and lost to Vestavia 6-4.

Vestavia beat Corner 6 to 1 in the Championship game.

  10. After defeating Baker 3-2, Corner makes final game. They will play Vestavia or Huntsville in championship game, last update Vestavia was leading Huntsville 5-2 in their semi. My guess is that Vestavia will take the championship game.

  11. QUOTE(greenwheel @ Apr 6 2007 - 09:06 PM) 826431659Any results?

Coffee County lost to Hoover 5 to 1

Hendersonville lost to Huntsville 5 to 3

Hendersonville defeated Grissom 1 to 0

Huntsville defeated Sycamore 5 to 0

Wilson (Central )defeated Grissom 1 to 0

Sparkman defeated Wilson 3 to 0

Hunters Lane lost to Sparkman and Grissom

  12. QUOTE(Betheball @ Apr 3 2007 - 07:32 PM) 826429219Interestingly, this is where the "I told you so" part comes in, I think. Whoever said that Hendersonville was a favorite in the tournament must have been talkig to some serious softball people, NOT those who just favored this team.

You make a mistake anyway, when you slam a team that has just as respected a tradition as your favorite team --- Who knows? Maybe that fires them up a little.

I noticed that the "other" teams mentioned as strong teams did not make it to the semis.

Bad luck? I don't think so. Good ball by H'ville and H'town of Alabama!

Congrats to ALL the teams that did their best in the tournament!

I heard your daughter had a run of bad luck against another Alabama team. It happens.

  13. "but this summer we had a girl that pitched 4-6 games a day then came back on Sunday and did the same thing. It's in how they prepare for a tournament ( it's the coaches responsibility) to have his girls prepared! : "

Come talk to me about that girl when she is about 18 and ready to try to use her talents to get a scholarship. I'll bet she is unable to pitch anymore. Overuse injuries are a reality. 4 to 6 games a day repeatably is a set up for tragedy.

  14. QUOTE(VolunteerGeneral @ Mar 26 2007 - 10:54 PM) 826423599Haven`t heard much on them this year. How are they doing so far?

They are playing a harder schedule this year which will help them grow as a team. They got to the top eight of the Hendersonville tournament. They are in the Worth tournament this weekend and that has some very strong teams. That will be a good test for them as it well be for all the teams in it.

  15. Harmon left Cavara's phone number on the Brentwood tournament post. I would call him. From what they say on this board they do still need more teams. The Worth tournament has been filled up for months so the Brentwood one would be your best bet. They left the list of teams on the same post.

  16. QUOTE(topgame @ Mar 26 2007 - 04:50 AM) 826422790Ken, who else is in your tournament this weekend? Where is it being played? Crocket park? Fly park? Is there a web site? Are there other Alabama teams in it, like Vestavia, Huntsville, or Hueytown? They are ranked 1, 2 and 3, in 6A this week on the Alabama high school web site. Hoover is 4, Sparkman is 5, but actually when you get to the top five in 6a all could be called the best in the state. They will all be tough.

A good question. Who is in the Brentwood tournament? How many teams do you have coming? I didnt even know there was a Brentwood tournament this weekend.

  17. agree... would be water down by adding teams.

I dont think so. What you have now is some sectionals have way more powerful teams than others. If two teams go from every region and you have sixteen at state it is more fair. Being the top 16 out of 100 teams is an accomplishment anyway you look at it. If you want to have only eight then dont make the same regions play each other every year in the sectional. Do it like colleges do. Have a super regional in which the top so many teams advance. That way you eliminate " hot spots"

  18. Bleacher you really are a bum. Let me tell you that I know Clifford personally have seen him for many years out there coaching. He puts himself and his reputation on the line for those girls that he coaches. You can say what you will about that but I call that a COACH. How many state titles has your team won? Really. Clifford has how many now and how many runner-ups? I'm sorry but I have been watching softball for many years now and EVERY TEAM has some unruly fans. They are are not just Soddy fans that get kicked out of games, I see it happen every now and than with EVERY team. I really think that you are a sour grapes guy that your girl wanted to play for Soddy and didn't make the team. I mean really if you have nothing better to say than ALWAYS getting onto Clifford and the way he coaches than don't watch their games its that simple, I'm sorry but some Soddy fans are not rude and obnoxious like YOU are were like caged animals that when you poke to many times we have to fight back. And you just don't know when to stop and trufully i have much more respect for those on here that have opinions and keep them to theirselves than those like you which I have NO RESPECT for. Also how would you know if the hit was intentional or not? I mean are you really Clifford, or the pitcher who hit the girl? I guess that of course

I knew the sportsmanship concept would go right over their heads. NO, IT IS NOT NORMAL , or usual , FOR FANS TO BE ESCORTED FROM GAMES BY THE POLICE, or other officials. Nobody is jealous about winning games. Goodpasture or Marshal County did not act this way, TCA or Columbia Acadamy did not act this way, Father Ryan or St. Benedict or Brentwood .............ect......do not act in this way. Win or lose. People are just tired of the , excuse the term, redneck drama from your fans. Really it is embarrassing and makes others uncomfortable.

  19. Topgame, very well said!!!

Well said, but Soddy fans will never understand your point even though everybody else will. Soddy is a great team with good girls on it and goodness knows they have tons of talent, but you are right, their fans are just unbearable. Maybe now they won state this year they will calm down and learn to win and lose gracefully. By the way Soddy girls you did play great this year regardless of what happened in the stands, with the officials, and any other grownup associated with your team. All of the girls can be proud of what hard work has accomplished.

  20. The game was 2 to 0, just like they said the Riverdale game was at the top of the seventh. They said they even were at the same part of the line up. The difference was Brentwood didnt error in the seventh and the neutral umpires didnt steal anything from them. They played flawlessly. Good game Brentwood. :D:) I told you Brentwood was going to do well at state at the beginning of the season.

Great job Brentwood. Great game. I sure am glad the state is in Murfreesboro and not Chattanooga. You go Julie girl!
