  1. From what I have been hearing and reading over the last two months Humboldt is a LOCK to win the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Even the two star players have said as much.

MANASSAS IS THE UNDERDOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just about everybody on here has picked Humboldt to win it all.....To late to start acting like all that stuff was never said. Don't be getting cold feet now just because Humboldt has been exposed as A TURNOVER MACHINE.

BTW, I'm still picking Manassas to win it all even though they would be a HEAVY UNDERDOG if they ever play Humboldt. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I don't have Manassas as the Underdog, and I haven't said that Humboldt will win it all. Do we have a chance? Yes! We have as good of a chance of winning it as Manassas does. Right now, I have Manassas and Humboldt about even. Humboldt does make turnovers, but what team doesn't? DO NOT say that your high and mighty Tigers don't turn the ball over because West Tennessee style basketball forces teams to turn the ball over. In other words, Legend you should be worried about getting out of your region right now and take it one game at a time like us Humboldt fans are. Good luck to Manassas and Humboldt throughout their Region Tournaments.

  2. Schedule

    Quarterfinals: Saturday-Feb. 28

    #4 Peabody @ #1 Big Sandy

    #3 UC @ #2 West Carroll

    #3 Huntingdon @ #2 LC

    #4 Clarksburg @ #1 Humboldt

***tssaa.org does not have these times posted. So I'm sure it will be at around 6 or 7 (maybe 7).

    Semifinals: Tuesday-March 3rd (In Huntingdon)

    Game #1 @ 6:00: Winners of Big Sandy/Peabody & LC/Huntingdon

    Game #2 @ 7:45: Winners of UC/West Carroll & Humboldt/Clarksburg

    Finals: Thursday-March 5th (In Huntingdon)

7:00: Winners from Game #1 and Game #2 from Semifinals

  3. Yall keep saying Humboldt missed 20 free throws..Humboldt missed 7...Humboldt hit 4 free throws in a row in the last 27 seconds to seal the win and I believe finished 10 for 17 at the line..So..Humboldt didn't miss 20 free throws..Humbodt didn't shoot under 50 percent..Humboldt finished close to 60 percent..better than last years college national runnersup !

I'm guessing you got your free-throw stats from the Jackson Sun, correct? Well, you forgot to do a little more math. With 39 seconds remaining, Humboldt is 6 of 17 from the FT line (39%). We ended up going 4 of 4 from the line during the rest of the quarter, which would make us 10 of 21 (48%) for the game. If we shoot 60% like you said we did, then we would've won by about 10 or 11.

I was not able to attend this game because I have classes, but from what I am reading is that Humboldt didn't drive to the hole like we did in Lake Co. We need to do that every time. Take it to Avery and get him in foul trouble. I also read in the Jackson Sun that we were playing 2-3 zone at first and LC was hitting their 3's. Why didn't we go to a 3-2?? Or did we? That's what we played against them in @ LC.

Anyway, good luck to all of the District 14A teams and lets sweep District 13A again. When are these games, btw?

  4. Lake Co knows they won't be in the same bracket as Humboldt..The only thing now is they'll play either Huntingdon or Clarsburg..but a win tonight would put them back in the bracket with Union City..I believe tonight Coach Whitby will try something he hasn't done yet..Play 6'6 Josh Bledsoe and maybe a zone..He knows the most important games are next week and that he is going to have to try something different against Humboldt..I don't believe he'll wait until next week to find out..Now is the game to try that..If it works..do it again next week and hope for the best..If it doesn't ..most had us losing tonight anyway..nothing lost..then go back to the players that played the last two games against Humboldt..except play a zone..We'll see tonight..Bledsoe didn't play at all against Union City..I think he will tonight !

    I'll take Humboldt by 11.

  5. What do yall think? Will 14A sweep 13A once again in the region tourney? Or, will the #1 seed in 13A be able to beat Trenton? What do yall see happening in the first round of the tourney and beyond?

I really think that Humboldt will win it. I think that Lake Co. will come in second, although they are more beatable than Humboldt. I mean, UC nearly beat Lake Co. in the district tourney. But, what do yall see?

The best game in the 1st round will be WC (I think that is their #1 seed) and Trenton. The other games will not be close. I have not seen WC play this year, but looking at the scores from their schedule I think it will be a close game. I know I shouldn't go by the scores and stats, but I will say that it is a very good chance that District 14A sweeps 13A.

  6. You do NOT want your team to go down there to play a sub-state game...You want them to win, play the sub-state game at home and play them in the state championship game....Wanting or talking about anything else is silly if you are a Humboldt fan...

We've been to a tougher environment than that. Manassas's crowd they had last year was small compared to the UC and Lake Co.'s crowd we've played every year. Memphis basketball fans have better games to go see such as Melrose, Mitchell etc. I'd rather play at home though, but I'm not intimidated by their "Memphis crowd."

  7. Not to rub salt or anything, but it looked to me that Bradford dominated the majority of this game. Except for about half of the 2nd quarter and a 2 min. stretch in the 4th, it was all Bradford. All 4 teams that are alive in our district are capable of winning, but Bradford has to be the favorite. They had 3 girls foul out. They played most of the 2nd quarter without Combs, Oliver, and Tubbs. Even with those players playing a very limited role, they controlled that game from the tip. Hats off to Humboldt on the valiant comback in the 4th quarter. I am sure we will meet again. I am also sure that it will be equally as exciting.

Sorry, but I wasn't able to attend the game, and I don't "hate" Bradford. I actually like their style of play. Congratulations to the girls in Bradford and good luck through region. Hopefully we'll meet up again.

  8. They won by 4 at Humboldt. Close wins are still wins. Bradford wins those close games because they have really good guard play, and they are more physical than anyone else. They pose too many match up problems.

It's hard to beat a team a 3rd time, especially when the past 2 final scores have been as close as they were. If Bradford causes SO many matchup problems, I believe they would've won by more than 1 and 4. For the game, if Humboldt comes out and plays with the same intensity they had against Lake Co. last night, I'll take Humboldt by 4.

    Humboldt- 63

    Bradford- 59

  9. Yankees, you know better than that... Melrose would lose to Humboldt by 115+ points, White Station would play closer than that 100+ point loss, and Raleigh Egypt would play Humboldt very close 50+ point loss.... Humboldt wins all 3 of those games... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Couldn't do that with a straight face.... I'm telling all of you Humboldt fans that say they can go toe to toe with the likes of Raleigh Egypt, Melrose, or White Station... Ya'll are INSANE maybe ya'll should go to Bolivar NOT for a basketball game... Just go ahead and check yourself in... Just wear a red shirt and they'll know where you are from. You're a good single A school and those teams are AAA schools and VERY GOOD AAA schools at that! I'd get off your high horse and if you seriously think ya'll would play toe to toe with them... Ya'll (fans) would be destroyed if Humboldt and any of those 3 cause Humboldt would get ran right out of the gym... Those boys are TOO QUICK!!! If ya'll think that Humboldt can run with the big boys (Melrose, Raleigh Egypt, and White Station) you are sadly mistaken or you are just so far up Humboldt's butt or riding that jock to hard to watch a different school... Watch any of these 3 teams and you'll know Humboldt can't run with them!

There's a difference between blowing out a team and playing "toe to toe." Apparently no one on here understands that. Please show me a post from a Humboldt fan who says that we would "blow out" the AA and AAA teams of West Tennessee. You will not find one! You cannot sit there and tell me that you do not think that Humboldt is a good team this year. I know what type of teams there are in AA and AAA, and I know that we can compete and be in the top 5 in AA. You act like we have been playing in A for the past 50 years and we have no idea what to expect from those teams in AA and AAA. Let me remind you that we were AA for all of the years before 2004.

  10. All the teams in the poplar bluff tourney were good and I know one of them had more size thatn Humboldt. MItchell was alos the state AA runnerup. Those were good teams with alot of talent. Believe it or not...I could care less.

Kinda like talking to a brick wall...some honestly think Humboldt could go toe to toe with Melrose, Raliegh Egypt, and White Station this season.....Humbolt would get run out of the gym against either of the three. That's not disrespecting Humboldt that's just telling the honest truth. Humbolt is a single A power in TN but not a southeast regional power or a national power. Get Real!!!!

I'm not saying we would blow them out, and I am SAYING that we would NOT get blown out by them. I don't consider us a power house of Tennessee High School basketball, but I do consider us as in the top 10-15 teams in Tennessee.

  11. Yes that was quite nice the way you worded tht. Here is the difference between Union City 2007/2008 and Humboldt 2008/2009.......counting regular season only. Post seaso fro 2008/2009 is yet to be determined.

    Union City 2007/2008

Union City 89 Memphis Mitchell 88

    Union City 85 Humboldt 78

Union City 72 Livingston Academy 61 (Battle for the State at Lipscomb champion)

Union City 79 Mills University Studies,Ark 71 (Poplar Bluff Showdown)

Union City 92 Raytown South,Missouri 90 (Poplar Bluff Showdown)

Union City 64 Harrison,Ga. N 59 (Poplar Bluff Showdown Championship)

Union City 58 Lake County 57

    Union City 73 Humboldt 61

Union City 63 Lake County 60

    Union City 92 Humboldt 84

Union City 79 Lake County 73

    Union City 85 Humbolt 73

    Humboldt 2008/2009

still waiting for a signature win for this season because Lake County and Union City are nothing close to last seasons teams.

Does any of that make sense?

That proves UC had a tougher schedule. It does not prove which team is better. This argument can go on forever, but we will get nowhere. UC's press from last year would give Humboldt some fits this year, but Humboldt's bigs (size+athleticism) would make this a very close match.

  12. I know who Boykins had lunch with today (A nurse that used to teach at Humboldt)..... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I know what Boykins said about the kid off the bench who missed a dunk against Bradford. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I may have been there I may not have been.....I aint telling..... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I know alot of stuff....lot of stuff I never post on here..... some people on here think they got a good read on me.......WRONG!!!!! I never tell everything I know...not on a message board Legend...I'm kinda like worldwide wess around these parts.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    It was a freshman

  13. You talking about Tay Kennedy? If so, he got to play tonight cause Wesley Bernard was sick all week... He's on the JV team and varsity if need be due to injury played earlier in the season cause of Cedarious's knee injury

I left him out on purpose also left out the kid from Humboldt... this thread wouldn't be any fun just me putting up a big list of freshmen that I think are good. He is Top 5 definitely VERY QUICK!

I wouldn't put Brooks in the top 5 though, simply because he still hasn't developed his ball handling skills like Tyler has.

  14. Oh NO! I like this thread already.... Going to get interesting over the remaining weeks! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Yea...that's why I went ahead and got it started early

But I'm not sure exactly about the pairings and everything, but I do know that the District Tournaments are being held at Trenton. I'm sure someone on here knows more about it.
