If Humboldt is not the third best team in the state, then who is? They play in the toughest district in the state. Union City did not choke, Humboldt won the game outright. They may not play as the best team together, but they are the most talented team in the state. Last night Union city got Humboldt's best effort of the year.

What are the stories with Middleton and Westside? Size? Speed? How would they match up with Humboldt and Trenton?

Well, I just got in from Thompson-Boling Arena where the Vols were handing it to the Gators for most of the game. I just heard what happened over in Atwood tonight. Congratulations, to Humboldt and Trenton, and it is just sad that four of the best teams in the state all play in the same district and can't all go to Murfreesboro. It sounds like the Vikings and the Tide wanted it a little more.

I am from West TN, but currently live in Middle TN. You are right about the fact that "its a different kinda game over here," it is slower and there are not near as many athletes over here as there are in West TN. I have seen Union City, Lake Co., and Humboldt; they are "heads and tails above" everyone else. I have also seen and followed several Middle TN teams, and I just don't think they can handle either of these three teams.

Alright, mostly everyone is going to pick Union City to win the game Tuesday night, but I want to hear someone else other than us Humboldt fans to make an argument on why Humboldt will win. Or is everyone outside of Humboldt picking Union City?

Congratulations to Lake Co. y'all played a good game, but Humboldt was 10 of 23 from the free throw line and missed seven in a row during the third and fourth quarter. Also, Humboldt did not do a good job at defending Springer.

When Bolivar one their first state championship a few years ago, they defeated South Side for the fifth time for the gold ball.

even if union city and humboldt were in double a, someone else would be beating up on these "weaker" teams and then you would have to find another excuse to make up for losing games.

Outside of Lake Co., Humboldt, Union City, and Grace Baptist no one else deserved to be there. I guess it will be the same way this year, our distrcit and region tournamnets will be the real state tournamnet.

This is just a random thought that will never happen, but what would be the chances of basketball going to the new system that the TSSAA is going to put in for double a football with the at large bids. It is just a shame that one of these three teams is going to have to sit at home for the state tournamnet (like LC did last year). I know the power shifts from year to year and some years other districts are stronger, but it would be nice to see some other format for the postseason tournament.

Where is the UC-LC game being played tonight?

Exactly, it was just last year that Lake Co. was the best in our district and did not even make it to the region championship. It may sound strange, but in the case of these three teams; it is better to finish second in the district tournamnet because you get the better seed at regions because the other two from our district are on the opposite of the bracket. So I look for whomever finishes second at the Dist. Tourn. will have a good chance of going to state.

Humboldt definitely deserves to be metnioned in the "upper echelon of single A" so do not come on here with that. As for the Bradford and GC game, when those teams shoot like they did from the 3pt line those nights they are very dangerous. Humboldt is capable of beating Lake Co. again; they had a good game plan for them last time and can beat them again.

Friday night's game between Humboldt and UC was very good for three quarters, and UC definitely deserves to be number one in the state and I do not care if Temple beat Grace Bap. by 80; UC is the best in the state. I was very impressed with UC, but I do think Humboldt can beat them. If Humboldt does not fall apart in the fourth quarter I think that game would have been a lot like last years regional championship (down to the wire). UC us good, but I just do not think they are 18 points better than Humboldt. I still think Humboldt is the number two in the district ahead of Lake Co. Who are the teams that our region will face in sub-state games? I know Middleton and Middle College were there last year, but who are this years' favorites out of that region?

It really does not matter who is ranked first; it does not affect where anyone is seeded for the bracket at the state tournamnet. We all know what happened last year to the "Number 1 " Cosby team last year; they got blown out in the first round. So, I do not think UC will mind being ranked second because they know they are the best in the state and are still the defending champs.

Yeah, it was a big win for Humboldt. This was probably the best game Humboldt has played all year. If they play like they did tonight against Union City next Friday, it will be a great game. They played man and zone. The way Humboldt played tonight they would have man handled Bradford and GC, despite playing zone.

Humboldt controlled most of the game, limited turnovers, and dominated in the paint. Epperson and Sain went for 24 and 22.

Ok. Like I said, I was not griping, but forget about single A. In AA, it was pretty obvious that Haywood, Liberty, Mitchell, and Bolivar were the best teams there. Why did they all play each other in the first round? I am not griping; it is just weird that three worst teams there were all in the same bracket. Excuse me thinking outside the box.
