    SPEED

well I'm not playing this year and i would like to know how to get faster in a short amount of time. any ideas at all would be helpful or maybe just a website name or something; i don't know anything; ha how selfish of me to ask for your all's info, but it is for the good of everybody that wants to get faster.

i think it makes good sense if you mean you shouldn't run up the score by breakaways all game, but maybe push it outside and work on finishing crosses or something. but i still don't think there should be a mercy rule, the team should merely score in different ways. it is good to know that TSSAA won't start it. ya we tore this debate up, but it was fun
  4. well that does it, Brian Lowder is the best; no questioning it now that Gatorade picked him as player of the year. alright sorry i just found that amusing, i have never seen brian play so i wouldn't know. there is no way of choosing who the absolute best in state is because anyone can argue someone other than him.

but a team that is losing let's say 5-0 at halftime, then in the second half all the winning team does is pass, then the losing team is still not going to have a good time, because they are never going to get the ball for any amount of time. If a team is not that great and they play a great team then their is no way they are going to have alot of fun, unless the coach just puts in all younger players and risks getting scored on, which nobody wants (I think). Personally I would rather play a game in which we have a chance on scoring but losing 9-0, then losing 5-0 and never getting the ball. Let's face it it is just never fun to lose, but that is part of the game. Every one loses, it doesn't kill them, sure they might get frustrated but that isn't your problem it's theirs. the bottom line is that a mercy rule does not belong with a sport as competitive as soccer has become. The game has been played and loved for a long long time and i don't think that it got this popular by the game's sportsmanship. just curious does anyone know who actually came up with this idea?
  6. Is Joey Pierce a senior? where does he plan on going because i heard that Doug Hall and Joey were interested in Maryville.

he was referring to my post about when science hill beat farragut. i think the whole thing was referred to me and the 26-0 thing was just weird coincidence. what team do you play for?
  8. that's great he is going to play in college he used to be on my club team, really good player, i hear good things about tusculum, who else plays for them?

no, i don't think it is the end of the world, and your right it doesn't give the better players confidence by beating weaker teams but it can give the younger players confidence when they score. take the william blount vs. bearden game last year. our varsity couldn't find the net, coach was so mad he took the starting line-up out(maybe not the keeper); our subs went in and scored alot and out showed the varsity, i don't know if that means anything, but our varsity sure did work harder in the second half and we got 10 minutes to score before we were subbed and we finally did but we were a little late so we got subbed for the rest of the game. i believe we ended up winning 8-2, our subs felt good about themselves for doing real well so i believe that some people can gain experience by scoring, especially when they go in and score when the starters did not (probably real rare or the starters shouldn't be starting), sorry if I put the idea (which i think i did) that i want the varsity starters in every second of the game, they should play a large majority of the game in my opinion, especially the defense, but i do believe that they should be subbed more than usual, but every one that is on the field should play as hard as they can, and score as much as they can; its their job as a team to find ways to score in any situation. I have more respect for a team that is getting beat by a large margin and still works as hard as they possibly can then a team that is beat 2-0 and are real good, just some bad breaks, that just quit with twenty minutes left int he game. I have respect for every team that comes out and actually plays, but if one team is just better then another, i am sorry but that's that. i didn't even know about that Australia thing until it was posted, so i don't put any emphasis on that. i don't know how to respond to this respect thing because I still don't understand how it is being disrespectful by scoring. it is part of the game you don't think it's disrespectful if you have possession of the ball 85% percent of the game, so why is scoring any different? please i am curious maybe you can help me see your point of view because as of now i am still in the dark. sorry about the mix-up chizaggi. and can anyone tell me how i can get one of those pictures under my name just wondering.

getting rid of scoring, in my opinion, is getting rid of a main essential in the game, you can not win with out scoring, and you need to practice scoring to get better at it. what is the basest of playing this game? it is to win right? everyone agree? i hope so now to win in soccer you must put the ball in the back of the net at least once, right? now, forwards jobs are to score or assist, if they can't do that what are they to do? stand there and talk, maybe throw down a blanket and have a picnic? and what is all this talk about class? why is it not classy to do what you are supposed to do? you don't get mad at the janitor for cleaning the bathroom do you? it's not a question of class when some one simply does what is expected of him.

um i had 4 goals last season, maybe you should try looking into a players background before you accuse them of something; therefore, i don't have to score to make myself feel "big", i do that by my play. give them encouragement? why? i want to win; it is a competition sport, not "here have a goal for your hardwork, friend". and yes it helps to score in any possible condition, practice makes perfect, and the more you score the more confident you become and not over anxious in the games that count. in the semi-finals last year a freshman was in as forward and this ball came across on the ground to him and he ended up kicking it over the goal from the SIX. now, maybe if he had scored before in the same type situation he would have calmed down and just tapped it in, i'm not saying that he would've scored but there is more of a possibility that he would've and just maybe we could've pulled off a victory in overtime and went to the finals, there are alot of "would've" and "could've" but those are alot better then "didn't". if one is superior you should show it, "survival of the fittest". i would be insulted if a player from another team came up to me in the middle of a game my team was losing and said "ya man keep trying you'll get it" i like how teams reward themselves with their hard work by scoring goals, its not like personal statistics make a difference on anything, maybe for their grandparents or something. the special olympics eh? where did that come from considering we are talking about soccer, and i never try to put down teams (maybe some players i don't like), i just try to make my team win by the most they can, even if my contribution barely helps, i think that is how all teams and players should play. i take pride in the fact that i put everything i have in every game i play, not slacking for weaker teams just because they aren't as good. can you explain why a team or player should stop doing what they love to do just because they are better? and i remember in regionals two years ago when i played with Oak Ridge and Farragut beat us what was it 8-1 or maybe 9-1 i don't remember all the goal scoring that went on, and then in state 5-0, well i didn't like getting beat that badly by you guys twice, it killed me, it just made me work harder, i wasn't mad because you guys beat us so badly i was mad at myself and the team for not playing to our potential. because that first game we had you guys for a while, the refs took away one of our goals (i thought it was a poor call),and one of your players kicked a ball from 50 yards out that bounced over our keepers head and resulted in a goal. taking what chizaggi said, i guess you guys kill teams without thinking twice, and now you are telling other people not to do it. i play pick-up games with just about the same intensity as any normal game, you know, practice the way you play. hope i answered your questions ask anybody, i have trouble playing in games that are not very exciting i try, but i just can't get excited and i make stupid mistakes like a weak pass or something because i don't have to exert myself as much it makes me less anxious to play hard, i still try but i find that i have to force myself to make the runs and such, i know that makes me sound conceited and everything, but when the team i play for is just better in every aspect then another team the individual doen't matter that much. so instead of trying to accuse people of stuff that your teams do, and tell them its wrong you should check yourself and the player you are talking to p.s. chizaggi i believe he was talking to me, sorry about the mix up
  12. well i know that west valley middle school has 3 boys teams and some people still had to be cut, that doesn't mean that they are real good but with that much interest there is bound to be some good talent. i think most west valley kids end up at bearden if i am not mistaken.

not even play? why don't you just kick your players in the nuts? you don't know, anything can happen in a game. what if you have an upset and end up with a tie or possibly a win? upsets happen all the time, farragut lost to science hill when they were undefeated no one saw that coming but it happened and teams should want to play at a higher level so they can improve.
  14. no i personally do not. but i would like to know Bearden beat them 7-1 on Tuesday.
  15. who does bolt play for? and as for my top goal scorer's Ryan Radcliffe has a knack for getting the shot from nowhere and scoring, it happened twice against Farragut last year. Tom Webster is a natural finisher.

    Mercy Rule

Why play the game at all if a team is going to stop it for a 3-0 loss with twenty minutes left? the game is still two halfs right? How dare a team quit in the middle of a game running away from your right to play? Seriously this rule is absolutely insane and i truly hope it doesn't go through. it's getting rid of the player's reward for their hard work. how far is this going to go? in a few years if a team takes more then 6 shots they forfeit or maybe teams are only allowed 1 forward at a time in the offensive third, because people don't want to run scores up
  17. there has to be some questionable players because not everyon'e views on who the best players are are the same, everyone can be denied even chuck norris. but i would have to go with Matt Fessenden is one as mid/defense
  18. i was just wondering who you all think the top goal scorers are going to be in this upcoming season.

i personally think that there should never in any way be a mercy rule. If a team has worked hard to be the best they can through conditioning and pre-season it is their rreward to beat teams, if that beating is very bad so be it, next time the opponent should come prepared, the only way the game should be called is if the coach just pulls his team and forfeits the match. If a team can score every four minutes why shouldn't they? why should they have to stop reaching their potential just because they are better?
  20. ha thanks i like my hair too and we did win, thelast thunderplex championship, thanks for the compliments everybody and good luck to all, especially knoxville
  21. haha i almost forgot about that man i didn't even respond because i was in awe of what he just said. Ya he used to talk alot on the field, i think he is doing better now that he is focusing on the game and not talking. I can't play because TSSAA rules state that a player only has 8 semesters eligibility and this is my 9th semester. I was expelled my sophmore year at Oak Ridge in January, but they don't have block scheduling so i didn't get a credit for the whole first semester and that's why i am in my ninth instead of graduated. Ya i was disappointed but I'm over it now what are you doing this season?
  22. ooh woops sorry for the misunderstanding BigG Ya i was disappointed i was looking foward to this season, i even went to all the conditionings before i knew i couldn't play but oh well as for college i am looking to play right now i am looking into cumberland in williamsburg i think i would like it there. yeah maybe i will see you there fockinmental16
  23. no I'm not an assistant coach. my name is Craig Cook and i just played for Bearden last year as a center mid #17 with red hair and i am not playing this year due to TSSAA rules. this reputation thing is getting outa hand all i said is that it helps push the new team to the next season. good gosh i never accused other teams of not playing hard or not wanting to win... what's all this preseason doen't matter i would like to think that teams would push themselves every game they can possibly play. who ever said that it gets easier? it wasn't me, and i have been accused of saying those words twice now.
  24. i do know beraden's players and their junior class is this (starters) Ceasr Ruiz he is a physical player Ryan Raadcliffe not that physical Bryan Walker the goalkeeper is physical (a little too physical w/ Rhodes last year ha) Nathan Zivi a little guy but just is hard to get down Brandon Wyrick is physical so they are not a very physical team this year but they finally have a finisher in a sophmore and a healthy Rico
