  1. You realize that Scribner had ACL surgery just a couple weeks ago? Not sure where you are getting your info. Imagine if Winn, McDonald and Yates had season ending injuries. Think about that.

Regardless, Dresden was better team and would've been tough to beat even if UC was healthy. UC only had 7 seniors this year and was down to 1 healthy. This simply wasn't no where near the caliber of UC teams of the past. Reference the jamboree game against Haywood where UC wasn't even close.

  2. I would do some research on your end before you call out swo. I wouldn't be pushing the issue and antagonizing people like nothing happened and this was all made up. You wouldn't want this video to end up on YouTube. Doesn't shed a good light on the Trenton program truthfully. It's sad because I'm sure that most are great kids, but one bad apple spoils the batch and a riot style atmosphere broke out.

  3. When they write columns ranking "the dirty dozen...the best in west Tennessee" and not include Obion county (which is less than an hour drive from Jackson) not only is it highly disrespectful but it's truthfully bad journalism and false advertising. Here you have a team that has a 38 game win streak which is one of the top 14 longest streaks nationally, yet they refuse to cover it. It's one of the reasons my business will never advertise with them.

    My .02

  4. and add two scores for turning it over twice inside union citys ten and its 35 28

    You can also say:

    • uc turned it over on qb exchange within the ten about to score

    • uc took a stupid pass bomb attempt with 8secs before half for a pick six. Should of let clock expire and go to half.

    • uc had a interception called off due to a stupid helmet to helmet call at the line. Dresden scored four plays later

    • And....uc ran the clock out at end of game on the ten about to score again and go up 42-18.

Point is, this game could of been wayyyy worse as well than the score showed if you want to point out certain plays.

  5. I know i may show like a b hole but what is it with numbers from you UC fans? Peabody didn't stop UC they had 400 plus yards. UC looks like to me UC had trouble with Peabody? Numbers and numbers don't mean poop! The only numbers that mean a darn thing 29-28 Peabody! Please UC fans get off the numbers kick! UC has a good team we all know that and good luck the rest of the season!

I would much rather read about factual information (stats) regarding a game and come up with my own conclusion rather than hearing someone tell me their opinion and analysis of the game.

Besides, the main stat is the final score anyways obviously, so if stats were not important then we wouldn't keep score and just let others that watched it give there opinion of how the game went and that would be it.

  6. An indoor practice facility... The band has their own semi... All the UC fans I saw had fancy little cushioned bleacher chairs... The field is remarkable... UC is either rollin' in $, or in serious debt.

I wish you could see a picture of the field that we played on back in the 80's at Jo Byrns. It was bad, real bad. These boys playing now don't know how good they have it with a brand new field house, weight room, descent field, and pretty nice stands.

As for UC I'm glad they have something that nice. I'm sure they got a lot of that nice stuff when the school was a lot more populated, plus it's obvious the people love their football, and try to give the kids a first class facility. I sure don't see anything wrong with that.

There's nothing wrong with it at all. A laptop for every student and teacher in the school might be cheaper though.

They have that as well.....in the library there are laptops for students to check out and take home with them just like library books. I'm being serious. Union City is extremely blessed when it comes to facilites and technology.

  7. peg and pirate2003, I hate to say it, but I can promise you that Robinson isn't the player of Washington. One of you made a comment about TCA not looking like a very good or strong team, however that team this year relied ALOT on Jabriel Washington because that's practically all they had. Jabriel is being recruited as an Athlete according to his rivals page. He'll probably wind up as a WR or DB. His offers alone tell you and me who is the better player. I mean Jabriel has 15-20 MAJOR D1 scholarships hanging in the air. According to Robinson's rivals page, he had 6 schools that showed INTEREST. None offered him a scholarship. That might explain why he winded up at UTC. There's no doubt in my mind that Jabriel is most likely the best overall Single A football player in all of Tennessee. Unfortunately, his team this year wasn't the greatest.

UC obviously had problems with Jabriel in that game against TCA. That's why I stated earlier in this thread that I think it's going to be very tough for UC to contain Terrell. If UC can keep them from turning the corners, they should be ok.

From what I have been told, Jabriel could not hold Terrell's jockstrap. Terrell is a stud on both sides of the ball. Jabriel may be the real deal, but I can guarantee if you saw Terrell play, you would not be doubting his ability....just ask all the teams we have played this year. UC will have trouble with Terrell...mark that down. No one we have played has shut him down....not even Polk County. Ask the Boyd fans if they would want to play us again with a healthy Terrell Robinson. My point is, many players are overlooked in 1A football. Terrell is not blinding fast, but has good speed, a great arm, and is a great leader on the field.

Man lay off the Pirate Kool-Aid.

Terrell is an outstanding player no doubt....but to say this "Jabriel could not hold Terrell's jockstrap" is totally absurd.

Terrell is going to UTC and does not have any other major offers listed on his rivals page.

Jabriel is only a JR. and has OFFERS from many of the major programs in the nation -- including LSU, Notre Dame, Cal, Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska, Tennessee and others. National recruiting analysts have considered him one of the top all-around skill position players in the Class of 2011.

  8. Kyle,

Speed is the key. He's the beginning. He makes all the other backs go. Everyone is concerned with stopping Speed, which opens it up for the other backs. But, still, you have to contain Speed, or else the whole veer O explodes on you. Correct?

Listen, I'm not saying that Speed is the only player yall have. Yall have a fine team, full of good ball players. But, Speed is the key to your offense. I really cant understand anyone saying anything any different.

Every football team wishes that they had a Speed on thier team.

Let me put it another way. Without Speed, do yall honestly think that yall would have the record yall have? That yall would have such hope for making it to the Boro?

    Honestly, now.

I watched UC early in the year and saw last nights game. After the Westview game i thought that if Speed got hurt then it would be a tough road.

The first couple of games early on this year UC might not have won without Colton Speed. It seemed the offense was not clicking and he basically had to take the game into his own hands because he was that dominant of a runner on the field and he realized that no-one could stop him.

Now as of late and especially after watching last night, you could have had the second string qb in and it would have been the same team. The only thing that you would have missed would be his senior leadership. This is not a knock on him at all...just a true testament of how this offense as a whole has come together. There are some serious backs that can literally run over people and are fast as well.

The scary thing is this...if UC is on the ropes and Colton is on the field...then he CAN take over a game like he did at the beginning of the year.

Early on...he WAS the offense. Now he is more of a trump card.

    Just my honest observation...

  9. 4A Back: Eric Gordon. Hillsboro.

Unbelievable player. Whether its WR/CB/RB/PR/KR, he is always making plays. More importantly, plays his best in big games; great TD catches against Franklin and took over the game against MBA (in which the difference was a blocked field goal return on MBA's behalf). If the HC fans want to pull the rivals card, so will I: 4-star recruit, #14 CB in the nation. In addition, offers from EVERY SEC powerhouse (pretty sure every sec team for that matter), Oklahoma, Miami, Texas Tech, Clemson, Michigan, UNC, Colorado, Louisville, etc. (the last few were probably unnecessary).

A lineman that should be on the ballot is Romario Cathey from Maplewood. An excellent player that anchors the Maplewood defense. Has a number of D1 offers, as well.

"pull the rivals card"....too funny. For the record...I am not a diehard HC fan at all. Not from Paris, but did watch Teague play against Westview to see what he was all about. Best HS athlete I have seen in a while to be honest and I am the furthest from being a fan...just being honest on my observations and his stats which don't lie. (on average, one out of every 4 times he runs the ball he scores a TD...btw)

To pull another "Rivals card" out, it is even more impressive that Teague has these numbers and has to share the offensive workload with Dominique Allen which Rivals states is the #5 rated fullback in the Country.

A high school offense that has the #36 Best Overall Athlete in the country and the #5 Rated Fullback in the country is pretty impressive to watch IMO.

Not to take anything away from other candidates as they are deserving as well I am sure. Just wanted this in the limelight on how good this guy is and the national attention these two are receiving.

  10. Marsalis Teague - 39 of 61 passing for 726 yards and 10 TD's (no int's either, i believe). 894 yards rushing on 56 carries for 14 td's.

Thru all the numbers that you will see on this thread, one that is hidden but tells a lot is that Marsalis Teague is averaging close to 16 yards per carry with 894 yards rushing. Simply when he has the ball he goes straight to the end zone. Coupled with the fact that Henry County??™s offense is averaging 47 pts per game and he has not played at all in many 2nd halves all year. There is a reason that schools like Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, Miami & Clemson are hard after this kid and are regular visitors to Henry County. He is also the #36 ranked athlete in the country accordingly to Rivals. I am not from Henry County but this kid is special for sure.

  11. In the pictures it is clear that the ref was watching the play felt there was no holding until after the score. Because it is clear when he starts to reach for the flag. screening is not illegal on a running play haha there is no such thing as a moving screen in football. Next that play happened on fourth down with eight mins or so to go in the game. he held is hands up so it would be clear there was no holding if you had seen the whole game you would understand why. video highlights of this game will be posted soon on mckenziefootball.com and different highlights on mckenzierebels.com That play will be on the highlight reel and you can judge for yourself when the flag is thrown and if there was a hold. I agree that this game is over and the only thing that will be done is a possible repremand of the offical who missed the calls. Not that will mean anything because its not the nfl or college and he will be calling a game on friday. I can not wait for friday when mckenzie travels to huntingdon for a very tough football game.

It is not clear in ANY of the pictures of where the ref's right hand was, (which is the hand that threw the flag).

All of these pictures were taken after the fact of when the holding actually took place.

It is also interesting to note that there is not an earlier image shown of when the actual holding was. I remember it like it was yesterday. The rebel player had his whole arm around the neck of the UC tackler. It was as obvious as anyone could see. I thought the runner was going to be stopped around the 4 yard line because of the fast approaching UC defender, then the McKenzie player wrapped his forearm completely around the neck of the UC player when he was beat.

With a photography background, one thing that I know for sure is the columnist is trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes with his photos. He tries to portray that this happened over an elapsed time of several seconds and that it was a late flag because McKenzie scored. The reality is, that with a modern digital camera he is and probably was shooting roughly 4-5 frames per second. With a Canon 10 and 20D you can shot upwards to 8-10 frames per second. To further prove this, look at every photo he submitted and notice the yardage that the runner ran. It is around 1.5 yards at best!! If there was a clear picture of the ref in EVERY photo, you would see him actually trying to get his flag out of his pocket. In these you simply cannot see his right hand at all which kills the writers point of view.

If he would show, or if he had a previous photo taken a half-second earlier then you would see the holding. More evident is the old saying "the guilty dog barks the loudest" in that the rebel player threw his hands up saying "no, not me"??

This whole deal of "should of" & "could-of" is borderline laughable.

Here's another what-if that was never mentioned:

What if Colton Speed did not slip and fall own his own at the 12 yard line when he had a wide open shot at the end zone?? Then the score would have been 28-0.

As P&G stated, i'll give you the pass interference call all day long. That was a missed one no doubt. But the holding calls were legit from my vantage point as I saw everyone of them.

Don't you think that it is ironic that a big gain was called back due to a holding penalty?? This is not a conspiracy against McKenzie /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> , just the fact that the runner would have been tackled at the line of scrimmage if the holding wasn't going on in the first place. Make sense??

  12. Question.... for all of the posters that love and believe in MR. Brown what is the main reason that MJ Brown was sub top 300 player and not being heavily recruited by high majors.....lack of exposure( 2-time Mr. Basketball), point guard abilities, size....just curious. I admit that I have only seen him play 3 or 4 times. And what is the main difference with him and Marquis Weddle???

Good point. After watching both, MJ is no question the better player to come out of UC. Just like Marquis, he was not looked at strongly as well IMO. No disrespect to Marquis, but MJ is a much, much better ball handler and floor leader. Not even in the same league if you ask me.

Now about true shooting, I would say Quis is a tad better. When he is on, man he is on.

Marquis went on to be the OVC freshman of the year averaging 17pts per game (& ranked 4th overall in OVC scoring BTW) all the while having to play bridesmaid behind one of the country's top scorers and future pro Lester Hudson.

If you were to compare the two on that fact alone of having played together on the same team, then yes, I can see MJ walking on at UT and having a future ahead of him, no doubt.

The last 3 Mr Basketballs in single A came out of UC.

Marquis won one. MJ won two.

Marquis won 1 state title. MJ won 2. MJ lead his team to an undefeated record his senor season.

Marquis' senior year at the state tournament MJ really shined even though he was only a sophomore.

He may have a better "fit" to play automatically at western as Yankees says, but playing in the SEC is not impossible at all as some make it out to believe.

  13. I subscribe to the sporting news..did you guys know they did a piece on Hudson a couple of weeks ago. It about two full pages. Check it out.

and ESPN, SI, The Washington Post and just about every other major sports publication out there.

His story is a great one and makes for great news that the mainstream media has picked up.

Heres an excerpt from a feature about him in the Washington Post:

"Even more impressive is the fact that Hudson has done all this after sitting out all of last year and not having practiced with UT-Martin while he became NCAA eligible after failing to graduate from his Junior College. He then proceeded to drop 35 points on the best team in America (Memphis) in his first real basketball game. Usually there is an adjustment period that JUCO players need to go through before they are able to reach their full potential at the D-1 level. For Hudson, there was none."

Good for him and this is also a great deal for UTM I feel.

I wonder how many other Lester Hudson's never make it??

  14. Well I just got back from the games and man another heartbreaker for the Skyhawks. That loss was almost as sickening as the football playoff loss two years ago. I would of liked to seen us foul on Austin Peay's last possession and put the ball in Lester's hand for the last shot. Or if we hit one of the four lay-ups we missed at the beginning of each half.

If you have seen Lester play, you know he doesn't need to work out very many kinks at all. Alot of times he will make great passes but our players are not even ready for them. He will be back for a senior season, he enjoys college b-ball, and thanks highly of Coach Campbell especially for believing in him.

We really need MJ next season. Gerald was too inconsistent and we need a serious 3rd scoring option. We have great role players, and the 3 guard lineup thrives in college b-ball. So UC fans out there we need some recruiting help.

I really don't think that he will be around next year. I would be shocked if he stayed. If he did stay then he would be 25 years old when the NBA preseason came around the year after next.

Now he probably will go no higher than the 2nd round with the absolute best of going a high first rounder.

Considering his age and where he plays (not a high profile area and school) I doubt that he will stick around for another year. I am hoping for the opposite, but you just have to be realistic towards the big picture if you were in his shoes.

  15. 3153....yankees just made one of the best posts I have ever read on here....and I read long before I joined like he did. I have asked him numerous ?'s about diff. teams....and guess what??? EVERY SINGLE one of them have been SPOT ON. Take note...cause he knows what he is talking about. I have gotten some of the most UNBIASED views from him. Do you not get it??? HIS VIEWS are UNBIASED ..something very rare and hard to find on this board. VERY!!!! Emphasize one more time......VERY. It is very rare for him to get "arrogant" as you say. Man is not arogant in THE LEAST...he can do what the majority of people...and yes I SAID MAJORITY..and that is BACK UP WHAT HE SAYS. People do themselves a great disservice by not listening..and in the process make complete idiots of themselves. Would you have put up with some of the stuff said to him..guess not cause you keep on posting back...so you must enjoy it...have fun cause you WON'T come out ahead.

    Look...as I said before...I already know that he is the best....just ask him and he will tell ya!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  16. It appears I have done something where many have failed...I have shut the entire UC fan base up!!!! It's good to be KING /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Unlees of course they want to come back....then I will be here waiting /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> The sad part about it is that I actually like UC but someone needed to put them in there place. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

yankee....you are unbelievable. I have been the one trying to defend you in the past.

But it is YOU that keeps stirring the pot.

It is YOU that keeps telling EVERYONE how great you are with your picks.

Then yet, it is YOU telling everyone else how arrogant they are???

Man you are the one that needs to look into the mirror. I calmed you down once already today and you admitted that you were amped up too much and out of line. I am now doing it again. It is YOU causing the problems. Everyone else is tired of hearing how good you are and will not even answer you.

Man I feel like your mother or Dr. Phil today.

Quit with all of this and let's just talk basketball. When you are angry or talking smack you look fairly dumb unfortunately and unlike others, I see and know that there is at least a little bit of basketball knowledge up there in that brain of yours.

  17. Manassas beat Middleton by 40 the 1st time they played this year also. Everybody say the more you play a team the closer they get well Manasas played Middleto 4 times also. Really I just think the Manassas players get board sometime nowing when a Team dont have a chance in H3ll of beating them. Now UC aint never ripped Humboldt apart like we did. lol! thats the differance. By the way Middletom coach said the same thing when we beat them by 40 the 1st game. Middleton has no D. Its hard to hit 21 3s with pressure in your face like you will see from Manassas.

Humboldt played Union City four times.

    Middleton played Manassas four times.

    Humboldt just lost to Manassas.

    Middleton just lost to UC.

After Humboldt played Manassas the fans that were there said that Manassas would have there hands full with UC.

After Middleton played UC Middleton's coach said:

"It'd be a great game and hopefully, one we'll all get to see in the finals of the state tournament. Manassas would have a huge size advantage, but Union City is quicker. Both teams are deep. I think ultimately, though,Union City would run Manassas down. I've never seen such an exhibition of 3-point shooting as I did tonight. They were just unbelievable shooting the ball. We don't have the best ballhandlers to start with, and it's hard to make 30 or 40 foot passes against them because they are so quick. They just guard so well and so close. We're used to playing a little uptempo, but our fast is about 70 points a game.Union City's fast is about 120 points a game."

This is not being arrogant, just stating what has been said.

  18. You are right ...I am being arrogant today and so would you if you were on the other end of the smack directed at me yesterday...I have just as much right as anybody to talk smack....I was called a hemroid by one, my objectivity was question multiple times, and I was called close minded by another..then when others saw my comments they couldn't help but jump right in.....this went on all day....and it turns out I was right /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> so yes I don't mind rubbing it in. My objectivity is one thing I actually value.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I saw a few Humbolt (thats the way I think I will continue to spell it) people that were actually quite gracious to Legend today...thats how it should be...Most UC people have a problem admitting being wrong...It seems now the shoe is on the other foot as you all kinda got under my skin yeterday....it'squite funny to me /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> You people are getting testy..take it like a man like I did /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Like I sadi I'm actually a good guy...just like today you couldn't help but to bring up my spelling...what's up with that...all I was doing was calling everyone to the carpet...especially after all the meaningless numbers taht have nothing to do with anything at this point in the season...I defended myself ..never asked a soul to get on here and back me up....You guys run in packs I guess /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Its cool and I understand. But you brought up an interesting point when you say "meaningless numbers"...

Would you rather read an intelligent post with stats, records, polls, etc. etc that leads into an intelligent discussion whether P & G's right or wrong (this is what you call and are quoted as saying "meaningless numbers") compared to the alternative garbage smack talk that goes on??

Its your call??? You tell me what you want as I am confused???

If someone cannot post on here an intelligent post that contains polls, player stats, other coaches opinions that have played both schools, etc, etc then what do you want them to do??? Just talk smack??

You are forcing me to start cheering for the Red Sox!!

  19. Legend, you've got to figure of course Humboldt is going to play a close game with Union City. They only play each other 4-5 times a year! I'd guarantee you if that was the case between Humboldt and Manassas it'd get closer each time. You won't agree but oh well. Manassas has been nothing until this year. All I've heard of Manassas before this year is how they would come up to Trenton or Milan for homecoming in football every year and get that butt STOMPED! This is Manassas's year to shine in basketball and most likely next year as well, don't let it get to your head because you as well as the UC faithful will be brought back to reality eventually.

I could reverse the roles and say and honestly mean that I don't see how in the world Middleton could play with Manassas for a half and still only lose by 19 in the Regional Finals.

No disrespect to Middleton, but honestly, they were prob at least a 5th place team or worse in 14a.

We have seen some awesome years in the past from them and I am sure that they will back in the not so distant future.

You are bringing up comparison points that work both ways Legend.

  20. And your point is.....remember I called both games correctly and you were so off the mark it's laughable. Lots of mumbo jumbo statistics and everything else...Make a thousand points and when you right get down to it Manasses was just that much more talented. You called for Manasses to beat Humbolt by 4.....Humbolt isn't even close to Manasses. Now you reach for another coaches opinion because you were so wrong...on both games. The players will decide these games...Coaches cannot win without talent ...that simple...great coaches and great talent make great teams. That's why UC is a great team but the same can be said for Manasses unlees you are prepared to say Manasses coach stinks...because Manasses is just as talented and I will gaurantee has more players that will play in college.... I'm telling you Manasses is loaded and anybody that says otherwise is crazy...This game would be a tossup...just say it's a tossup or go on the record and say UC will win...and stick to it...don't take both side of every issue like a poiticain and make the reach of a coaches opinion. Mark Few also said Memphis would beat TN ( Gonzaga played both)..actually made pretty much the same comments Middelton's coach made. I picked Memphis and stuck to it..guess what I was wrong. No big deal.

Yankee I was starting to defend you yesterday, but YOU are the ARROGANT one now.

He said nothing about Humboldt in his post. NOTHING!!! You keep bringing it back up again and again.

You were right and dead on with your predictions of last night as I said earlier. What else do you want anyone to say???

P&G just quoted what the messenger had in it today in comparing a Manassas vs. Union City possible match-up. What is wrong with this? There is not the word "Humboldt" ANYWHERE in his post.

This is just you again letting your fingers get wayyyy ahead of your brain talking trash.

You have no right from here on out to call anyone "arrogant" as you have stirred up way more than anyone.

It's so ridiculous now to the point that when ANY UC fan posts up anything that they are called "arrogant" and P&G directly quoted a local paper and giving the box score last night is considered an "arrogant" post as well.

    What gives??

  21. you are right that would be bad look for UC if the pulled Manassas 1st round. lol!! better get those rooms for 1 day lol!!

Legend, congrats to your team. Well deserving.

I honestly look at it as they are eventually going to have to play each other. I don't think that there is any doubt that they are the two best teams up there. If it comes in the first round, then there will be more prep time for both teams.

I really hope deep down that UC will draw Temple it the first round. That would be a little dose of what Temple was missing last year thanks to Humboldt.

  22. These were not simply guesses. I made these calls from what I actually know, have read, and seen with my own two eyes. The first thing I look at on any basketball team is talent and then coaching. I admit I may have said some things....But I challange anyone on here to compare their comments to mine. And I meant that about the peace offering.... at least you didn't call me a hemroid like that atlas guy...I don't call people names but I guess he couldnt help himself. Like I said I am a good guy but I'm not in the dark when it comes to highschool basketball. Congrats to all these teams. I'm taking the high road....These threads back up everything I said about all these games. They speak for themselves.

I'm with ya. I'll never resort to calling names...hehe, just facts and try to state my opinion occasionally.

I respect you opinions even though some differ from mine. That is what these boards are about.

Good night for basketball in TN. An even better one tomorrow night as UT Martin will host there first ever OVC playoff game.

You ought to check it out!!
