Oakland was up 31-0 after 1 and 59-6 after 2. 2 of their 3 2nd Half TD's were consecutive Punt Returns. If Oakland had ill intent for this game, the score could have been way worse

Would "ill intent" include calling time out with 8 seconds left in the half, with the ball on the 2 yard line, up 52-6, so that you can score one more TD before halftime?

Lots of defensive scoring and special teams scoring is how the number gets up there.

Oakland had the ball on the CC 2 yard line, 8 seconds left in the first half, up 52-6, and called time out, so they could score one more time before halftime, which they did.  Read into that whatever you wish.

  3.  But, there is a TSSAA rule against Varsity starters playing JV on the same day/night (copied above from 2014-2015 TSSAA site/handbook).

No, the rule you posted didn't quite say that.  It said nothing about "same day/same night".  Nor did it provide any guidance for, if that is the intent of the rule, when JV and varsity rosters may be changed.  What if a guy started varsity Tuesday but didn't start varsity Friday?  The rule you quoted says nothing at all about same day/night, which is why I believe the intent of the rule you quoted is at the other end...to be inclusive.  This would not be the first area where the TSSAA handbook is vague.

On the other hand, this is from the preamble:

"At the junior varsity or B-Team level, the only eligibility rules that apply are those in Sections 1 (Enrollment), 2 through 4 (Academic Rules), 5 (High School Graduate), 6 (Eight-Semester Rule), 7 (Repeating Rule), 8 (Eighth Grade Participation), 9 (Age Limit), and 10 (Physical Examination and Parental Consent). At the varsity level, all eligibility rules apply."

Great point on salary, which is why I quoted 'hired' - we got what we paid for (I wasn't as informed/involved prior to that hire). And just to be clear, he coached Saturday (Was on the sidelines through Saturday's game). The players basically went on what they knew from playing club, because the ex-coach went ... during practice. He also ..., tossed around ... like Mardi Gras candy (coincidentally ... turned up missing...), jammed ... in a 7 passenger van to get to Stratford (during rush hour) after the bus had a flat - and all of the above is just this year. And was before he knew he wasn't going to get to come back (not get tenure) and resigned. In fact he told people was not going to coach next year if he had gotten tenure. Some people ... Maybe he'll ...

The next guy may do worse next year, since we're losing several seniors and a program foundation isn't there. Hopefully we can up the supplement and get somebody that actually knows soccer.

AFA the allegation re:parents, if you can name some names I'll ask them, because while there was some concern about playing the team that finished second but for the forfeits, I heard nothing about throwing a game. If you're going to flame, ... back it up.

my source is reliable. u want a name...ask your coach.

  5. The ex-coach remained on the sidelines through Saturday.

He had never seen a soccer ball 3 years ago when he was 'hired'. I question how much his knowledge of the game has grown. Discipline is sporadic at best. His work ethic is also questionable, unfortunately.

The seniors on this year's team were some of the initial players when AYSO started up in LC, and thus have been through that and some clubs based in Fayetteville and Huntsville through the years. So the kids have been around soccer. They just didn't get much instruction and discipline the last 3 years.

just curious...what kind of coach does LC (and their parents) honestly expect to get when they pay the coach crap? i understand the lc coach only made about $350 total to coach BOTH the boys and girls...compare that with $2000-$3000 that a coach makes at other schools in the district for coaching only one team. some people honestly have no clue. the lc team i saw was as well coached as any team i saw all year. my money says the next guy will do worse...not better. i also understand that he had parents trying to get him to throw the lc-cc game cause they didn't want to play t-homa first. absolutely no class.

  6. Either Franklin, Coffee, or Lincoln could easily finish second. Columbia can't because they've finished district play. Lawrence is mathematically out of 2nd. You're right though...it's the team that finishes second that gets hurt. I guess the second place team won't be taking that first round game for granted!

  7. As I understand the situation, Tullahome only forfeits the games the guy played in. The win against Columbia and the tie with Shelbyville stand, I believe. They finish with 4 points, but still in last place.

    1. Shelbyville 16

    2. Coffee 7

    2. Franklin 7

    4. Lincoln 6

    4. Columbia 6

    6. Lawrence 5

    7. Tullahoma 4

Coffee still has Franklin and Lincoln. Lincoln also still has Lawrence. This is no blessing for the team that finishes second, as they will play Tullahoma in the first round. Too bad it's not an 8 team district!
