  1. Elizabethton easily imho. SH doesn’t have the athleticism they used to have.  Watched them practice the other night and honestly I think they’ll struggle in 6A again this year(provided there’s a full season), hope I’m wrong.

Then what do you mean "if true"???? I thought you already knew they are out of the running!!!!!!! My "non-sources" know more than you and the neighborhood fat lady to which you refer, and I'm not even a DB guy. I just hope whoever does get the job doesn't read coacht, so he can spare himself your constant beratements, clueless verbal assaults, unfounded shots on the coaching staff, and just pure stupidity. Oh I know, WaCoLoCo is popular on Coacht...Lol.............WHO CARES?

    It will be Ryan

  4. Has there ever been a time in Alcoa City School history when someone from these families weren't in the Alcoa School system?

    Marsh

    Bledsoe

    Tyson

    Warren

    Suddereth

One of the Bledsoe boy's wife taught and coached basketball at Maryville, does that count??  I honestly don't remember a "bunch" of Sudderths and if they played they weren't related to 33 that I  played with from 80 to 83, at least I don't remember.  You have to put the Love family in there as well.  Some of the grandkids played during past decade.  The Tyson family is also connected to the Mitchell family.

  5. The Science Hill d coordinator should be fired tonight. The kept playing press coverage and kept getting burned. The QB for sh is not a passer at all. So when we jumped out to the lead it was over. Maryville will play it totally different. 2 safeties 3 or 4 lineman its called PASS defense. SH must have watched the gatlinburg pittman film thinking maybe we wouldnt toast their butt when they put 9 on the line of scrimmage. I am a little embarrassed for the defensive coachs for SH.  It looked just like the spring game we totally destroyed them that day too. SH quit at about 28-0. Our D sold out to the run early then SH QB was exposed in the passing game.

Good night to be a Bear.

    GoBears!!!

it has been this way all year long.  very, very frustrating to watch them on defense.  I don't understand anything they are trying to accomplish; it just doesn't look like a 6a defense.

  6. Im going with Dobyns Bennett by 2 TDs. I saw mo east play my Govs and I wasn't super impressed. The Govs missed two extra points, had receivers drop atleast two wide open td passes and our quarterback gave a gift to mo east and they still only beat us 35-34.

I agree, especially if Coach Clark stays out of the shotgun/spread and powers the ball with Casey.  DB still has more talent/tradition than ME even if their fans don't believe it.

  7. Some of the disparaging remarks here are useless. I think that BOTH teams are better if this becomes a rivalry again. DB has been inside SHHS football head for years. SHHS played tight. Last year it changed as SHHS fell behind but didn't quit and they knew they could play with DB. This year they gave notice. And it is great for both communities. Maybe the personal stuff can stop.

Overall it was a great game. DB could have put it away but they couldn't. DB always comes to play and hits hard. To the poster who said McGue was good but if he was contained he was average. Johnny Manziel is average if you contain him but the problem is just that... DB couldn't contain him all 48 minutes.

As far as Carter and Cook. When SHHS was coming on the field for the 2nd half Carter told Cook there was nowhere for his team to go and they were slow coming off the field. Cook grabbed Carter by the front collar like a bully. Carter got away and words were exchanged. After the game Cook engaged Carter again and Carter literally stiff-armed him to keep him away. Cook should have let it go but he chose to keep it going. For those who know him, this behavior is not surprising. And where was Cary Daniels? Where was the principal?

Cook could use some diplomacy lessons from GClark. The man always handles himself with class and represents his school and community in an exemplary fashion.

But the best part is that this rivalry looks like a game again. DB is down by their standards but they NEVER stay down long. Both teams are young and next year looks like another barn-burning.

I thought everything happened as SH was leaving the field for halftime heading to their dressing room?

  8. I don't think the travel will effect Farragut that much. Coach Courtney always has one or two long trips per year, so the players are used to it. Farragut is playing fairly well right now despite the meltdown against Maryville this past Friday. Hopefully our senior qb will be back next week and the injury to our #2 RB isn't serious. I don't know anything about Science Hill, and Farragut hasn't played them in a number of years. I'll be doing some homework to try and find out some things about them to see how the Admirals stack up against them.

I saw Farragut play early at DB and have been to all of SH's games.  SH when healthy is much more athletic than Farragut.  I could not understand your coaches against DB and why they would not feed the ball to 2 on every down.  He's a good back that can hurt SH as defending the run is not SH's strong point.  Your D gives up big plays which is SH's strong point.  That makes it a bad matchup for you guys.  Should be an interesting game.
