  1. I thought I would post the e-mail response I received back directly from TSSAA today regarding the 50% rule. It is very clear and I thought it would help clear up some of the questions here (that I guess I started with my question!). "The 50% rule applies to basketball, baseball, and softball and only from the beginning of the school year until the season begins in each sport. In basketball, this would mean the fall only."

  3. You gotta love CoachT!! Great info. It is much appreciated.
  4. Thanks for the response. I have heard back from 3 of my other coaching friends that concur with you. This is great news as it really doesn't interfere with basketball travel, which is almost always done in July prior to school beginning.
  5. I'm sure it has been discussed many times on here, but I am having difficulty finding information using the search mode. I have a couple of questions that many of you probably know the answers to if you can spare a moment??¦. 1. I understand there is a TSSAA rule that prohibits more than 3 players from the same high school playing on the same travel team. I have also heard different interpretations of that rule. One person I spoke to said it pertains to ALL travel teams, while another told me it applies to just Fall Leagues. Can you clarify? 2. Does this rule apply to incoming freshmen (current 8th graders)? I think the answer is no because they are not enrolled in high school and have not even participated or tried out for their respective high schools. I would appreciate any information.

  7. Catholic looked very strong in their game (caught it on TV), while Stone is somewhat of an unknown entity. I will say that Cumberland County was supposedly favored by 18 points last Friday and Stone handed them their rears 34-0. Stone is very quick and was suprisingly explosive off the line Friday night. They appear to be in outstanding physical condition, as it was extremely hot at the game and they did not falter at the end. Cumberland County was much bigger, but ran out of gas. Stone has a couple of playmakers that are deceptively quick with good moves (#1 comes to mind) and the quarterback that took the place of an injured starter looked good in the backfield. I heard the projected starter at QB may even be back for this one...he has great size, good feet, a good arm, and good field sense. Can Stone beat Catholic?? Probably not... On paper, it probably looks like a blowout, but I wouldn't count on Stone just laying down in this one.
  8. I think the Wendy's Elite Tournament is this weekend in Lenoir City.
  9. Wow! I thought they were better than that. Do you know what tournament that was? Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the info. We have to make it through a couple of games and so does the Storm in order for us to meet. Of course, we parents are always optomistic!
  11. Is the Storm offensive strong inside, outside, both? What are their main strengths in your opinion? We hope to play them this weekend in the East Sub-State.
  12. Are the 11/U Girls Brackets completed for the North Middle? Are they on a website somewhere? Thanks.
  13. The 11/U Orange Raiders are mostly made up of last year's 10/U Blue Angels. They have not lost either of their post players from last year. We'll find out how far above or below average they are this weekend in the East Sub-State. Their defense looked outstanding this past weekend, but shooting percentage needs to improve.
