  1. both max and jake deserve it. both are great players and did a great job of leading that McCallie team.

Last year it was sometime in Oct or Nov, yes after the girls season was started. At least the Coaches All State. The All State for the Tennessee Sports Writers usually comes out in June.

  2. How can I find out who is on the All-District and All-Region teams? Has this info been released yet? We are in AAA District 5.

Good luck with the all regiona and even all state. It took them till October last year, way after the girls started to get that information. Your all district should have been announce at the district games, just ask your coach.

  3. Very good effort by Columbia, a surprise for many on these boards to see that result

No surprised here. They took Blackman to the brink last year and lost 6-5 overtime. No surprise here against Siegel. I think if Siegel would have played Sunday, win or lose against Riverdale, it would have better prepared them for Columbia. Rival competetion I believe makes a team better and more prepared. Everyone was already talkn Riverdale vs Siegel matchup and as I told my son, you cannot overlook Columbia.

I don't think Columbia will beat Riverdale, 2-1

  4. I will tell you what we were told at the state referee meeting this past fall and at the Highland Rim Referee Association which represents Middle Tennessee. If the shin guard is more than two inches above the ankle, then they are illegal. They must be size and age appropriate. We are to strictly enforce this rule.

  5. Last year, All-State came out on January 9th, so we've probably got 2 months to wait. The district/regional/county/etc. will come out much sooner.

Lets see the boys Tennessee Coaches All State didn't come out until November of this year, 7 months after the season and three months into the girls season. Don't count on January.

  6. You are correct. First Round will be at the higher seed. Semi-finals are tentatively scheduled to be played on the stadium field at Richard Siegel Park due to a Siegel Middle football game. Finals will be at Siegel High.

Why does a boys middle school game take precedence over a girls high school soccer semi finals? Let the middle school team play at another high school that is not using their football field. If you are going to play the semi finals there you might as well play the finals there and the middle schools need to pay for playing at Siegel Park.

  7. Players and parents, you need to start pushing for the All State list for coaches now, other wise you won't see one. You will at least have the Sports Writers All State List. The boys still have not received the list and are still waiting. If you push for it now, you might see it. They know who their recommendations for all state are, so have them send it in now.

  8. Looks as if TACA has a new website. www.taca.net

I emailed the contact list and ask them if they knew anything about the all state list. We will see what kind of response I get.

  9. Not that it matters a whole lot when it comes to my son, but last years juniors who are playing select soccer this fall, and trying to be seen by college coaches, would really like to add that to their resume. Who is the president of TACA, does the organization even exist today. I know some coaches have done all they can, but my goodness, this is awful. Who is in charge exactly so we can complain. An email and phone number would be nice.

  10. someone on the board was diping there hand into cookie jar

    [/quote}

It was the past president from a year ago. All this stuff with all the coaches are leaving is because of the new board. A lot of the Coaches went to Brentwood Soccer Club.

  11. G, with all due respect, I know you have been on top of this as usual and that you have been swimming upstream in trying to get this job done. I hope, however, that your comments don't mean that you think it is okay to have the list come out in August. I hope that is never going to be viewed as acceptable to the TACA. Good grief, the TSSWA beat you to the finish line by over a month (and still counting). In all of my high school years, going back to the late '90s, I can never remember the list coming out this late. If the coaches don't want to respond promptly, then leave their players out of consideration. Once word gets out why someone was not considered for the list, you can bet the parents and, hopefully the AD's, will see to it that the coaches do their jobs in a responsible manner.

Ideally, I think the All-State lists should be published at or near the time of the state championships. There is no reason, other than negligence by the coaches, that the list has been delayed to this point. This isn't rocket science.

And finally, I hope the TACA isn't basing the All-State selections on a regional quota. There is no way the three Grand Divisions of the state merit equal representation every year. Some years the studs are in the East, some years the West and some years the Middle. Select these teams on overall performance, not as top players for their respective regions. That's what the All-District and All-Region teams are for.

I was looking at old post from last year and it looks as if it came out July 5th last year.

  12. Actually, it's the exact opposite. If the list were just "thrown together" it would have gone out a month ago. But because we wanted a true all state team, with nominees across the state, with representatives from each region, it took a while. The list has been submitted. In years past, it has come out in mid August. If anyone is upset with how long it took, then they should talk to their coaches about the time they took to submit their nominees. Some of the coaches were GREAT, and I appreciate everyone that helped. I think the process will go much smoother in the future, now that we have regional reps across the state.

If I find out when it will be publicized, I will let you know. Be patient, EastTNref... it is coming soon!!! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Shoot, Big G called me out. That makes sense. I apologized. Not really been called out by the Man before and with that said, I guess it makes since to wait for a list.

My high school soccer days are done, although I will be watching on occasion. For those of you in East Tennessee, come watch some D1 College soccer at ETSU. Here's the schedule.

  13. What all this really does is demise the award/recognition, because it looks like a list was just thrown together. In years past the Coaches list seemed more prestigious than the writers list, but that's personal opinion. Now it's the other way around. I think waiting until to ask for nominations until after the season/tournament might be the problme, at least I think that's when they ask about nominating All State Players, they should do it immediately after the season, not the tournament. This way you catch coaches who are still in school. By the end of the season, for the most part, coaches know who thier top players are. I am glad I don't have Big G's job. It's definitely not for the lack of his due diligence.
