  1. If coach Calabrese can pick up some of the '90 ODP team members - Matt, Aaron, Zander, Holt - they should have a foundation of a strong team down the road.

I don't think Zander is playing for ETSU. We were just there yesterday on Matt's official visit and I didn't see him listed.

  2. I just hope they don't drop the program like WKU. There is a LOT of talent headed up to ETSU this next year.

One thing that helps is no football program, and the student body nearly a year ago almost unamiously voted not to bring the football program back.

  3. webster is for sure a senior. as far as ETSU though, thats gonna be a crazy transition to D-1 next year...i do not see them doing well at all

ETSU is going to do better than you think. Coach Calabrese is a great coach and has recruited very well this year.

  4. SURE! With all of the money they are saving by cancelling their men's soccer program, they should have millions. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> Cincy, you should send them a bill. I would.

I talked to Mr. and Mrs. Backstrom today, and they said that Ben would hopefully be able to get some looks from some other D1 schools with recommendations from his current (former coach). I feel more for the incoming freshmen who have 6 days before signing day, and now have no where to go. Somehow this can't be legal (which is more of a wish than a reality) but it definitely is ratty.

They are going up a division in D-1 and are expanding their football stadium. HELLOOOO...?!

Men's soccer is the red headed stepchild of american college athletics.

    This makes me sick.

    Vanderbilt did the same thing!

  5. Why do u have to bite your tongue right now??? I'm interested in hearing what dins has to say about this

I didn't say I had to bite my tounge, dins8 said that. I just wanted to know the process and why only one young man from TN got All American. Should have been more in my opinion

  6. Just for the extra $1,000,000 insurance coverage, it makes it worth it.

TN only got one All American. There were about 30+/- nominations that the NSCAA coaches voted for. Only the player who got the highest number of points got it.

I would get on to all of your coaches to become members. That allows them to have players nominated, allows them to vote, and the other perks that Uniden talked about.

I know Coach Vice from Blackman is a member, I do hope others will follow. The boosters for the high soccer team ought to pay for this as well. Thanks for the info G.

  7. AAA in Knoxville: Besides Bearden (whom coach Turner seems to get the most out of each year, and has the All American Thomas Webster back again this year, I believe) I think Farragut has a lot of talent returning and will be good again. Look for Knox West to make some noise again. They were a very skilled and young team last season, and I believe will be even better this spring.

Speaking of All Americans, how come more people from Tennessee were not on this list. If Tom Webster was the only one and he is a very good player, why weren't there others. Seems pretty political to me. Not to say Tom didn't deserve the recognition, he does, because he's a very good player. Matt can't wait to play with him instead of against him at ETSU. Are the Coaches just not submitting thier names, or if they are submitting the names, are they just ignoring the boys from TN because they are from TN, which is what I mean by political. How does it work?

  8. ETSU starts thier D1 season Aug 2008, they were club last year. They are being coach by a very good coach in Coach Calabrese. Used to be the Assistant Coach at Clemson. They will be stronger than most think.

  9. Why is Tennessee boys high school soccer in the Spring?

What other states play in the Spring?

Some one told me Tennessee is one of only a few states that does boys Spring soccer.

    Thanks for your comments.

I don't know this for a fact, but it maybe due to Travel Soccer. Big tournaments where college coaches have the only chance to watch and evaluate future college athlets happen mainly in the fall and most states along with TN do not allow someone to play travel and high school at the same time. It's probably a compromise beetween travel soccer and the state. If they switched soccer in the fall for boys, a lot of boys would not play high school soccer, becasue they would never be seen by a college coach.

  10. After the sectional games are over, there is supposed to be a random drawing for the remaining team. If two teams from the same regional are still alive after sectional, then they will be placed on opposite sides of the bracket. Bottom line, it will probably be Monday or before the actual state schedule will be known.

go to www.tssaa.org, you will see the brackets.

  11. Sounds like it got pretty ugly.

The game did not get ugly at all, it was a hard, physical game. The referee did an excellent job, he let them play but knew when to blow the whistle and knew when to card. Just because a red card was given doesn't mean it got ugly.

  12. I know the refree last night that gave out the red card and I have ref with him on numberous occassions and he has refereed my son as well. He is an excellent referee with excellent knowledge of the rules. Most referees, not all, including myself, will let profanity go the first time, especially if it were a slip of the tounge and they will give you a warning. However, if it is directed at any way at a player, coach or referee, slip of the tounge or not, the red card is coming. When you direct at another player out on the pitch, it is not a slip of the tounge. If a player has a bad strike, a bad pass, etc.. sometimes in the heat of the moment something does slip and most referees that I have had the privledge of working with let that go with a warning.

A pre-game is done with the center referee and his AR's before every game and majority of the time this topic is brought up and majority of the time the referee will say if you hear something, let me know or if you can let the player know that the next time it is a card. So there it is from a refees view.

  13. When the captains meet for the coin toss, the center ref should remind the captains that profanity can and will be a cardable offense. The center ref should also instruct the captains of other "points of emphasis" as to how he/she will call the game. Sort of like the referees instructions befor a prize fight.

I am a referee and I should never have to remind any player that profanity is a cardable offense. That's like me telling them that kicking is a foul.

  14. It should be a yellow card. section 8, misconduct in the NFHS, any incidental use of vulgar or profane lanugage, However, Art 3b, states if it is used towards an opposing player, coach referee or other individual to degrade or incite them, then 3g states using insulting, offensive or abusive language or gesture, then it's an automatic red.

  15. Sorry. I didn't type it out how I meant. Sometimes I forget this is a message board, and just like texts, you never know how the person is coming across or implying. What I meant, and this follows what blazesoccer said, when anna left the game maggie dropped to sweeper. The first 15 min maggie was man marking becca and to me she was doing a heck of a job. Well, after she had to play sweeper and no one was there at stopper to be able to stop becca. And that's not putting my defenders down. That's telling you how I saw the game from the stands. Maggie is one of the best marking backs in the area. He could have dropped Kim but that would have taken away our offensive attack. And by having winn at centermid, because he had to, it affected the offensive attack to. I'm not making excuses. Yes, riverdale played a great game and won. I give them that and i'm not taking anything away from them. However, no one can deny that winn is there biggest offensive threat and by not having her at forward decreases offensive attack.

Alright, that makes a little more sense. Bygones. I am looking forward to districts and a probable rematch.

ohhh Blackman soccer dad whats up? I agree with what you are saying, but Hope Solo's my girl man. don't hate on herYou are right give credit to Riverdale, it seems like they deserve it. Arman is a good coach.Btw your going down in Fifa when I come back. much love man.

So not scared, whoever this is, bring it on!

  16. Did I say my defenders didn't do a decent job? No. Therefore you are putting words in my mouth. I also said nothing about sydney stopping the goals where clair did not. Perhaps you should go back and read my post again.

Mr.300, care to enlighten us on the centermid situation?

Here's your quote "Then the stars got scored on twice on the freshman keeper?" It seemed to me, you implied that because a freshman keeper was in the net, they scored or why even say anything about a freshman keeper.

Before that you said, "Anna only played the first 15 min. You do realize that riverdale got nothing when she was in?

Meaning to me, and other people can comment on this, that if Anna had been in there the whole time, they wouldn't of scored, why put that Anna only played 15 minutes and ask us to realize why she wasn't in there no one scored.

That's just my interpretation, I sure would like to get other interpretations. Thanks for clarifying.

My point is, your defenders did a good job without Anna, you should have pointed out how well your other defenders played in the first half, but you made excuses about how other players weren't there so that's why Siegle didn't play well or would have played a better game. You are downing your other players, not me. Just my opinion though.

  17. They were without one of there best centermids and all-district defender. Anna only played the first 15 min. You do realize that riverdale got nothing when she was in? Then the stars got scored on twice on the freshman keeper? I truly believe that if Siegel has their full team playing it would have been a much better game.

Riverdale didn't score the whole first half, so your comment about only playing the first 15 minutes doesn't hold water. Obviously your defenders did a good job in the first half without Anna. Are you saying your other defenders are not good. They play 40 minutes in the half, not 15. Just chalk it up as a loss and move on.

Maybe Coach Arman made some adjustments at half who knows. It was a good game, and very competetive, two players don't make the team.

Seems to me you are pulling a Hope Solo and saying your freshman keeper wasn't good enough and if a senior would have been in there they would have stopped it. Those first two goals were pretty amazing goals and it was done with very little space. Give Riverdale credit!

  18. I think u need to check your standings again and u definately be sure of what u say. The team just beat the number 1 team 6-0 while TuSc had only beat that team 6-0. n Tusc put them out of the tournament but the score defenately proves that these kids can rock some division 1 teams. The reason that they really arent division 1 I hear is that most of the parents in Jackson are not prepared to pay for trips around the world which sometimes sum up to over $3000 a month. Most kids in div 1 pay this kind of money which is quiet unfortunate because there are some really good kids who just dont get a chance to compete at other levels because of their financial incapabilities. If you are a college recruiter I recomend u check this team out and Im sure you wont regret it. At least 2-3 players will interest you. NO LIE

The number one team in the state is not the MSC Shockers and they are not even in the state league, so I believe they are Div 3. The number one team in Div 1 in the state is, depending on who you ask either KFC or TNFC. In Div 2, last year state champs were the Metros, Jackson didn't even make it to the D2 State Finals. Right now their record for D2 is 3-0-1. Jackson tied Camp Forest for goodness sakes who are Div 3, and I have seen that team play, and they are not very good, sorry Camp Forrest, no hard feelings. Jackson lost to TUSC because TUSC is a good team and that's why they are in D1. TUSC also beat the MSC Shokers 7-1 and Camp Forest 4-0. Now I am going to have to tell you like it is and quit being nice. YOu haven't a clue of what good soccer is. They may have one good skilled player, but as far as the team is concerned, they cannot compete at a high level. The cost of playing in the D1 State League is no different than playing in the D2 state league, so you need to get your facts straight. You do not travel outside the state of TN to play in D1 League. The record I gave you for Jackson was accurate according to the TN Soccer Website, and by the way you can look at the finals from last year and look at the standings of the league for this year. I am not knocking the Jackson team or any individual, but it is what it is. You seem a bit delusional and I believe I called it just as it was with Jackson not getting out of thier bracket and called TUSC beating them. I have seen that team play. Let me know when you think they are playing another good team. Hopefully this post won't come across to harsh.

  19. I do see that the KFC Crush are in the TUSC Tournament this weekend, but that team will have to come out on top in first place in order for them to play the crush. I don't think that will happen. TUSC 90 boys are a good team.

I also checked out the Div2 standings and this team you are talking about, are currently second with 2 wins and a tie; It is early.

  20. Well you are right in that sense but I bet these kids will beat at least two of these teams....Just because they are division two doesnt mean they cant play that competition.....They play TN this weekend in Goodlettsville and I really want to go watch this game. If you see them play, you will agree too.Well you are right in that sense but I bet these kids will beat at least two of these teams....Just because they are division two doesnt mean they cant play that competition.....They play TN this weekend in Goodlettsville and I really want to go watch this game. I have not seen this team play. I can tell you that the three teams mentioned above are very good teams, over half on each roster are ODP Players and most have already committed to D1 schools. Those three teams have been the top three teams in the state over the past several years and I really doubt that the team you are mentioning will be able to compete with any of them. However, I could be wrong, but if they were truely that good, then they should be in the D1 State League and competeing in the D1 state league tournament.

What team are they playing in Goodlettsville this weekend. I know it's not TNFC, they are playing premier league games in another state and I am assuming KCF and Memphis are doing the same. What is the name of this team?

    Thanks

  21. This team is obviously unstopable. Ive seen them play and these kids are amazing. Their center mids can deliver and they have the best forward coordination in the state no doubt. Their defense is very strong and their keeper is definately going to Duke or somewhere. I d love to see them win the state title and I really believe they can with that number 24 who is a very physical player. That boy plays from the heart and I really hope to see him end up somewhere. Any inputs??????????

Div 1 or Div 2. The top three 90 teams are KFC, TNFC and Memphis, not necessarily in that order. You have to be talkin about Div 2.
