  1. QUOTE(Redtwin @ Feb 16 2007 - 10:52 AM) 826374467[/snapback]

I think Houston did have a lot of senior talent last year. I'm not sure what they get back. I seem to remember CBHS having a lot of young guys that contributed last year, particularly on offense. I would think that the four teams in the playoffs last year would have to be the early favorites this year.

I think CBHS will be hungry this year after what, for them, was a disappointing season in 06.

Really want to see the Cookeville team this year. They have a good coach and really improved last year as the season went along. They are my pick in the east.

They seem to have had a lot of excitement around the progam last year. That usually bodes well for a team.

Ravenwood is definitely still in Division 1.

I hate they dropped Brentwood from the schedule. Traditional Rival and all. You would think they would keep that game.

I think Houston lost a lot of seniors. Does anyone know how good they will be this year?

I thought Ravenwood moved back to D2 this year. Also, I've heard Farragut is going to be very good this year.

I looked at their schedule and they are D-1. Good schedule; Boys' Latin, Severn!

  5. i still think franklin is top. and we still have yet to wrestle ravenwood, but i think we will beat them as long as we are all healthy again. we have a good shot at beating ravenwood and overton.

as of now i think its

    1.franklin

    2-3-ravenwood or overton

    4.independence

Should be a GREAT Regional Dual Tournament!!!

  6. I Never Said The Kid Didn't Have Heart Okay We Have A Linebacker On Our Team Who Was 5'6 You Don't Think It Took Heart For Him. I Didn't Say Anything Against The Kid's Heart Or Talent Alright. What I Said Was Your Coach Made A Bad Decision Putting Him On A Player Like Rod. I Don't Care How Much Heart You Have There Comes A Time When Size And Talent Catch Up To Heart And That Was A Bad Coaching Move. I Mean I'd Rather Have A Less Talented CB On Tall Reciever If The CB Matched Up More Size Wise Or At Least Double Up On The Receiver. Your Coach Didn't Do That And It Ended Up Hurting Ravenwood. All The Respect In The World To The Player In Question Though And I Hope He Has Success Later On In Life And Congrats On Going To College. By The Way What College Is He Attending Just Wondering?

I imagine Auburn, if I had to guess. I hope so, sounds like a heck of a kid.

  7. If this is true every school should walk away from the TSSAA as is proves they have little or no backbone to stand by their own rules.

Clearly, it is who you know at TSSAA that counts. And the bias against girls in making exceptions is probably a class action suit waiting to happen.

  8. Props to the Ravenwood coaching staff and players for playing and coaching a great game.

The Gallatin game plan was way too predictable. Run left, run right, run middle. Punt or repeat. It reminded me of the Titans.

I thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the Ravenwood sideline. The fans were passionate yet not obnoxious.

Good luck against Antioch next week!

I am Ravenwood fan that went to the game. G-fans on the side we were sitting on were nothing but nice. Raptor fans should remember the Franklin game, when our QB was out (hope the kid is doing well). On an aside, the G-stadium is one of the great places to watch a football game. I love being so close to the field.

Gallatin should not under estimate how good this Raptor team is, they have alot of talent and play together, plus it is always hard to beat well coached teams and we definitely have a great coaching staff.

    Go Raptors!!

  9. Congrats to all the All Americans and All Staters. I find it interesting that State Champ, MBA has 6 all state players, while teams finishing behind them had more: McCallie (11), Ravenwood (12), Houston (8), and MUS (7).

Lets see - Formula for Success

Fewer Stars plus More TEAM = State Championship

    Congrats To MBA!!

I would rather have a ring than any of the individual honors.

  10. Lets give the Goalies some love now

It is a shame that stats do not mean more for goalies. But even worst that people keep stats incorrectly (hopefully not on purpose). I know this was an issue last year in D-2. For instance, I reviewed one goalies stats (StatsDepot.com) for 2006 and then compared to the opposition’s shooting stats. Only six opponents kept stats/shots on goal, but the difference was incredible.

In six games the team reported 111 saves, but taking the opponents SON of 101 – 54 goals = 47 saves.

That is a difference. (sorry for long post and that numbers don't line up exactly)

    Team's Goalie's Stats

    SHA SV Goals

    24 19 5

    23 17 6

    32 24 8

    29 22 7

    25 13 12

    31 16 15

    TOTAL 164 111 53

    vs Opponent’s Offensive Shooting Stats

    SON SV Goals

    11 6 5

    10 4 6

    12 4 8

    22 15 7

    19 7 12

    27 11 15

    TOTAL 101 47 53

    Percentage .323 versus .534

  11. I dont know what game you were watching, but Ravenwood's defense played a good game and the reason the goalie only had four saves was because McCallie could not get close to the goal all their shots were wide or high, they did dominate the second quarter and that won them the game but Ravenwoods D held them to two goals in the second half

Not that the facts every get in the way, but Ravenwoods Goalie is listed for 10 saves against McCallie

  12. D2 Wildcard Weekend-

    Brentwood vs. Collierville @330

    Centennial vs. Webb Knoxville@330

the winner of the games will play @ 7 i believe

Brentwood beats Centennial 8-4 to win wildcard

  13. the franklin-cordova game was very close. anyone who wants to talk crap about cordova can b/c they are goin to state to win. cordova cant help the fact that no DII teams in the west are a good match-up. i want to send a shout out to #2 on hendersonville b/c he is a punk and cheap shots people on the field and then when he gets hit goes and cries like a baby on the sideline.

Why doesn't Cordova play Houston, CBHS or MUS. Those would be 3 quality Memphis opponents they could test them?

  14. Because Houston and Ravenwood have moved up to D1, here is how the D1 playoffs will go (from www.tnlax.com):

"High School Division I playoffs will include the #4 seed from each region. These teams will play the #1 seed teams during the quarterfinals weekend as #2 seeds play #3 seeds. The question of whether to play within or across regions was discussed but not finalized."

Was it ever decided whether teams will play across regions?
