  1. Well Quiting your job doesnt get you a free pass to BA. If they want you! they wil get you! If you have ever read the TSSAA recruiting rules they are full of holes. You must go throught the same finiacial aide process as a college admission and submit the finding to the TSSAA for review. OK but the regs also say you can borrow the tuition. (it doesnt say from whom) Now BA has rasied 9 million dollars this year from supporters. I know they have had 3 1 million dollar contributions. Well if I could Give a million, I know I could employ this kids father (maybe just part time) and say give him a bonus large enough to pay off $6500 in tuition. Prefectly legal within the rules. Too many easy ways to skin the recruiting cat.

I know for a Fact that this man shopped his son to a few of the local privates schools. I heard this kid was comming back in June. But following the TSSAA rules thats OK as long as the Student wasnt involved.

    The TSSAA is a JOKE!

    Back to the Game;

I give FR a 26% chance of pulling the upset. They will have to play the game of the year. Get pressure on the BA QB most every play and take advantage of every BA miatake.

I hate BA FR in the upset

    FR 16 BA 12

Sorry, but Caffee started BA in January. And it was heard late last October in Texas that he was leaving Aledo because of his rotation at QB. His dad didn't like that at all. I guess that is the reason Flatt never plays Bledsoe.

  2. A. Your statement is rediculous and makes you look like a jackass.

    B. Give me one concrete example of any of those teams recruiting. If you knew anything, you would know that both of the new players at BA came to Nashville because their fathers got jobs in the area. I believe Chris Jordan was going to go to JPII when his father was supposed to be in Hendersonville but then decided on BA when his father ended up in Cool Springs area (Itzme, correct me if I'm wrong). If you think any of those schools have the time, money, or personnel to spend chasing middle school athletes around, you're crazy.

    C. JV games mean about as much as coming in 2nd on a reality show. Nobody cares and it's not a good indicator of what you are capable of. I know MBA and BA both put a premium on playing guys in JV games that will not see the varsity field until their senior year. I don't know what Ryan's policy is as far as that goes, but if winning JV games is a top priority, they might need to reasses their priorities.

    D. Sure, Ryan has beaten CBHS & JPII this year, but will once again go 0fer against, MBA, BA, and McCallie. CBHS is really the only quality win the Irish have this year. Sure JPII is a big rival, but they play in DII AA and outside of a win against the worst MBA team in 20 years, they haven't really beaten a quality opponent either. Long story short, Ryan has a long way to go before they start talking about being contenders.

    B. I don't know anything about the Jordan kid's dad, but I do know about the Caffee kid's. His dad quit his job in Texas and moved to the area without a job and did not have one for several months. I am assuming that he is now employed. I know that Caffee came to one of Flatt's football camps a few years back. It has been said, in Aledo, that Caffee wanted his son to go to a school that threw the ball more then his Texas team. Now, does anyone else find this funny?

    C. JV games are a reward for the kids that work hard but never have the chance to play during a varsity game. If you never let them have a taste of what it is like, you would not have half the players by their junior or senior year. If a player is a freshman or sophomore and playing on varsity, then he does not need to play JV and in most cases does not.

    D. If you remember, back in August, MBA was looking mighty good. When a team is hit by the injury bug, like MBA has been this year, it can be hard to overcome. I still think that we have a good chance of making it to the playoffs. We will probably be 5-5 but that will still get you in. And just maybe we will get the chance to beat FR again.

  3. I think you are right, McCallie wins against MBA, but I do believe MBA beats Baylor.

McCallie is playing so well that I don't think anyone can slow them down. We will have a better chance at beating Baylor. I still believe that Rutledge will find a way for MBA to win at least one of these last two games.

  4. Went to the game on Thursday and expected Ravenwood to win, but I sure thought it would be much closer. Ravenwood looked great in all areas and Independence looked well, not great. But who knows, Independence could still make it to the playoffs in what, their 3rd year. Both teams need to finish the regular season strong and they might just see each other again this year.

  5. Was it a pair or jeans or a pair of shorts? I give Indy's coach a lot of credit for suspending their quarterback, especially considering how big that game was for them. That sent a very important message to all the players on their team.

I would think that the credit should go to the schools administration. I am sure they are the ones that dealt with the situation. Cordell better be ready, because I am sure there will be some things said, come Thursday night. This will be a hard fought game by both teams and much to be proven. I still find it amazing how two fairly new schools can have so much success this quick. My pick: Ravenwood in a close one.

  6. He's a good coach and a good man.

Now for the game...I think BA will win in a low scoring game. Losing Jordan is a big blow, but can't whine much about injuries with what MBA has gone through. It will be interesting to see what defensive adjustments BA makes to counter MBA's offense.

From what I have read and heard I don't think losing Jordan will hurt BA at all in the running game. Ford was your starter for what two years? I have heard some people say that Ford should have never lost his starting position anyway. Hey, don't get me wrong, Jordan is a player and will get to shine next year.

Rutledge will have the boys ready. It will interesting to see what game plan he comes up with. I'm sure the defense will put pressure on Caffee and hopefully will be able to score some points off turn overs. MBA has to have this one. MBA wins a low scoring game.

  7. Over all Region 6 is the toughest group of teams in the 5A year in and year out from top to bottom. Dickson fans are proud to be apart of this group It makes us all better teams! Im picking Dickson county Good luck to all :thumb:

I agree that Region 6 is the toughest in the state. These next few weeks will be critical for some of the teams and should make things interesting the rest of the way. It is too bad that they all have to be in the same region. Can you imagine a state championship with two Williamson County teams playing each other.

  8. I don't know about this one guys. I've seen Park play this year, and he doesn't seem to be comfortable... Park playing a perfect game is a long shot to say the least. In mind the only way the Owls can pull this one out is if BA gets intimidated and the Owls capitalize early. I'm pulling for the owls, but I have to pick BA by atleast 10.

Is Park playing not to get hurt, so that he doesn't mess up his baseball career at Ole Miss? Or is it that the two QB's that are going to play against each other both struggle under pressure? I thought that Park did a good job last year, so what has changed? No Oline, no receivers? Well, this should be an interesting game. I guess we will see if MUS wants to make it back to the playoffs.

  9. I don't think that FR has anyone with the type of break away speed that Tate has. MBA moved the ball well against JPII and held Coffey pretty much in check. I agree that it's going to be a slugfest but I also think that MBA is faster and better upfront. I'm still taking MBA.

    Ditto!

  10. let me know if you think this is the all time #1 dumbest thread ever!!!!! Everybody in dII makes the playoffs. They got like 4 teams in the whole division, makin the playoffs is about as hard as finding a mercedes in the parking lot at MBA

That would be eight teams. And yes, they need to win 5 games to make it to the playoffs. But are you sure that it is that much different in DI?

  11. I was at the MBA v. JPII football game last night and, I must say, that is the worst MBA team I have ever seen take the field. Of course, I am fully aware of the well-documented injuries that have decimated the Big Red, but that does little to explain the team’s overall lack of skill, speed, and strength. Is MBA’s talent pool so shallow that even its amazing coaching staff cannot field a team capable of competing with a JPII team that is, at best, a marginal DII power? If not, then MBA is in serious trouble during the rest of the season because it has to play Ryan (home), BA (away), McCallie (away), and Baylor (home) – four teams far superior to JPII.

But is it not just the varsity that is struggling. In fact, the situation appears to be far worse than a varsity team decimated by injuries with no apparent football players in reserve. I checked the MBA website and saw that MBA football teams are pitiful at all levels: the 7th grade team is 1-4, the 8th grade team is 1-2, the 9th grade team is 2-1, the JV team is 0-1, and the Varsity team is 3-3 (and probably on its way to finishing 3-7 and not making the playoffs for the first time since the DI-DII split). The future does not look bright; in fact, it appears that the talent pool at MBA is very thin and drying up. Bad news for the football-crazed Big Red alums and even worse news for MBA’s Headmaster and Admissions Director – at this rate, both of them had better update their resumes!

Without having the benefit of an insider’s insight, the only fact that I can discern is that while MBA may recruit musicians, artists, debaters, and thespians, is one DII school that definitely does not recruit athletes in general or football players in particular. So, someone in the know, please tell us what is going on at MBA?!

Rutledge will have the boys ready to play FR and BA. We just need the defense to score some to help out a very inexperienced QB. Now, if Cordell hadn't bailed out...

  12. I think he holds for the extra points. Zero at QB.

Well, it looks like the other QB got just what he wanted when he moved here from Aledo. A starting position with no rotation at QB. I guess when you move across country to play for a team, you should be rewarded, right. Although, after reading all the posts, it still sounds like Caffee is having the same problems at BA that he did at Aledo. Making the right decisions under pressure.

Aledo High is 3-0 and have just moved into their new stadium.

  13. wow the fact that you guys are debating this is mindboggling!!!! this year is the ninth year in a row that McCallie will stomp alll over the red raiders....i mean the last time baylor won the Spice Girls were popular....nuff said dont even waste your time McCallie is too good to even argue this one

Isn't this the main reason that Baylor got a new coach?

  14. Yes...yes...we all know that Maryville would beat every team they choose not to actually play. The Rebels are undefeated in theoretical games.

Has BA tried to schedule Maryville?

Oh, and McCallie wins this one.

  15. Well...back to the winner of this game....

MBA wins because they are a team, unlike JPII...which is one player no matter what anyone says

    MBA-24

    Pope-21(All three by Golden Tate)

MBA has been hit hard by the injury bug, sure hope that its over. I still pick MBA to win. They just need to hold Tate to under 2 TD's.

    What's the update on Bennett?

  16. Should be a great game. I'll have to go with Ravenwood. I think their loss in overtime to Brentwood could be a great motivator. This team is not used to losing. If they can keep the players injury free and with some decent play calling I believe they have a shot. Sonny is a great quarterback no doubt about it. Becker is a good athlete so I'm thinking it should be a great match-up. A win over Smyrna would be exactly what Ravenwood needs. The question is how bad do they want it?????

With Becker back under center and having a week of practice under his belt, should help the team. I am sure that Rector will have the boys ready to play. Sonny Grey is a great player but hope that the boys can slow him down. He has an unbelievable amount of passing yardage.

  17. Agreed facilities are just part of the equation. There is also money for JV coaches, support for the secondary sports (i.e. -- everything but Football). In Girl's soccer, there seem to a disproportional number of good public schools in "rich" (or "richer") areas, and less in the rest of the state. There are a number of notable exceptions, but these seem the exception and not the rule.

Most high school soccer players have also played travel soccer for years and still do during the high school off season. It is a very expensive sport because of all the travel involved. You can include volleyball in this also. I feel that is the main reason you see the "wealther" counties with the extra money for these sports. Parents demand it! It is known, that soccer players are noticed by college coaches, not in their high school games, but in the travel tournaments.

  18. Please join the CPA family in praying for CPA's Soph. LB, Nate Patton, who suffered a cerebral hemmorage in last night's game versus MBA.

Nate is in the hospital and the neurosurgeons are deciding right now whether surgery will be required.

Those of you who are inclined, please pray for healing and medical wisdom o the part of the doctor's. Also for peace and faith for the family.

Nate is the 4th and last Patton brother to play for CPA.

Any news on this young man?
