Battle of the birds goes to DA BIG OWLS! Good Luck to DA BIG OWLS Friday night. Looking forward to watching a good football game. Very good running game, to many weapons and options. Defense looking great as well. You don't go 10-0 without being well coached and doing something right. I don't buy into the whole schedule is weaker stuff, region is weaker but SC hasn't played down to the level of their region opponents. They have clearly dominated the region. On another note, I would like to see the SC-TC rivalry restored. Think it be good gates for both schools and a great game to watch!
BIG OWLS - 28
firebirds - 10

I honeslty dont know. I heard they weren't aloud to host because there wasn't enough seats to host a game, but I thought that was just the Substate. but u are right about them traveling to Gordonsville. So I really dont know. I know that Clarkrange did redo their seating, and that may have been why, but i really have no clue. I have just heard everyone talk about Clarkrange hosting someone if they beat JCounty. I do remember the game 2 year ago. there were a million people in that gym big enough to hold 100. you'd think they'd try to do something to put some more seats in there cause what they did this summer didn't help any.
I agree, I believe that the gym seating was the reason why they could not host. And it may be just until they get more seating? I don't know, but if they have redone their seating then that is great for them.

neither of those games were "upsets". This district was anyone's to win, there was no real clear cut favorite in the whole tourney. There were seeds but obviously that meant nothing. Clarkrange had beat JCounty earlier in the Yr. in Jcounty. and Pickett had beaten Clay earlier in the year. Just because JCounty and Clay were seeded higher dont mean it was an "upset." Pickett and Clarkrange have prolly been playing better than just about anyone lately. Ever since the beatdown that Livingston gave Clarkrange they havent lost a game since until the last one against clay, which they had the game won until Boles decided to hit everything he shot at. So they are playing great basetball right and have a very good defense. The Region will be very intersting. Whoever Clarkrange hosts will be a tough game. and FC hosting either Clay or Jackson will nock off a top seed right off the bat.
Clarkrange cant host can they? Pretty sure they recieved a 2 year ban 2 years ago and are not allowed to host any home region or substate games starting last year. Could be wrong on this, and maybe it was just a year penalty. But last season C-range girls had to travel to the 3 seed Gordonsville.

Every year midten has his JC boys picked first in everything. Obviously he is not any different this year. I think both districts have several teams that can win the their district and then region. Should be a good year in region 4A

Good luck Tigers.
-
Gville was also without woodmore and several other key players who were in football. They will certainly help the tigers out once they get in basketball form.

Who should be the favorite to win this district. i think all 3 of these teams lost several key players?
FCS lost Tetter, Sorrels, Wilson, and Maasen......hard to replace
What do you think?
I would say RBS is the favorite. Watertown will be better with a new coach. Who knows bout FC. Gville should get better as the year goes on. Best of luck to them! TC will be tough as well. Should be an exciting year in 8A

Should be a good game. Looking forward to watching. Good luck to both teams

Gville will have to have a total team effort again to get a W tomorrow night. DC is always tough and are always coached well. The Gville band will be playing in the gym tomorrow night, I believe it is the first time they have ever played at a basketball game. I know as a player I and my teammates enjoyed having our band play as it made the atmosphere seem better. I hope this will help get things a little more electric in the Jungle! Good luck Tigers and Tigerettes!

It was closer than 10 the whole night. A 4 or 5 point game with 30 ticks left when we started fouling. But I was real impressed with Hensley's play inside. We didn't have an answer for him tonight. He is a tough kid. JC has a good ball club.

Just to name a few... 10AA has 8 teams and uses the same format. 7AAA and 8AAA have 7 teams and uses a double bye for 1 and 2. 10AAA same format... I didn't look very long but I guess maybe coaches are looking for something different. Probably will eventually go back to the old way at some point. I think giving the byes makes the regular season mean something. College conferences do it. Why not try it in high school?
