  1. I think DC could get their first district win in a long time, since 2000 I believe, came against SC pretty sure. "IF" Ferris is out I see them finishing 6th, with her I still think they don't finish higher than 5th.

    1. LA

    2. UHS

    3. CC

    4. YAI

    5. DC

    6. SC

  2. Flu has indeed invaded Jackson County, over 300 kids were out of school yesterday countywide with over 130 being out of JCHS. I failed to find out how many of those were football players or cheerleaders but there's a good chance one or two were maybe more. I hope all recover soon and bounce back fast !! If by some chance JC can't field a team tomorrow night, can this game be rescheduled or is it a forfeit?

I hope Gville don't get the flu til the end of football season, or maybe in a couple week stretch when we're not playing good teams in our classification.

I've heard some things about our gameplan that I'm interested in seeing tomorrow to see if they work and what not.

Tomorrow's game has the potential to be interesting. We'll see.

I still say Gville wins 41-20.

I hope they don't get the flu at all. Good luck to the Tigers tonight!

  3. JCHS and Gville have met on several occasions. In fact, 1974 the Tigers played JC in the G-ville homecoming, Tigers won of course, Ron (Moose) Marshall was playing for Gville yet somehow managed to win friends and influence people during the game.

Districts and conferences have changed during the years as school population and area population changes. Used to be back then the first game of basketball season was between the two schools too but that was a lifetime ago, back in the day of girls halfcourt play and Diane Spivey from JC being one of the few females with a good jump shot.

Good luck to both teams, I'll be there. If not with bellz on at least wearing blue ! LOL :thumb:

These teams will be meeting up in a Hall of Fame Game November 17th at JC. So it looks like things are changing back, except for the girls half court part.

  4. I am looking forward to seeing how this team responds. The talk around the Jr. Pro game tonight was that they would just roll over and ride out the season. Leadership will be the key. It was absent on Friday night. The owls need to make the plays that they are supposed to, and maybe some that they are not supposed to. I am sitting and waiting to see the playmakers on this team. I watched them this summer at the passing league, I saw them at the scrimmages, I saw them verses Cheatam Co. Where have they gone??????????

GOT SCP? I think that is on a tshirt my grandson has. I think the question is relevant! Which team will show up?

Not dissing Cheatam Co. but they are not the the caliber of the last 3 teams you guys have faced. Maybe it's just harder to make plays, summer leagues and passing camps are different than the Friday Night lights. Not saying SC doesn't have play makers.

  5. I dont think SC plays the best player they would rather start a senior then a talented freshmen! They have just as less game experience as a freshmen!

Yea, they would rather have a less talented player on the field....... :D Probably just giving the senior a chance. If it's not working out, I'm sure they will make a change. Coach Maynord and his staff want to win bad enough they'll play the best players.

  6. SC got the running game going a little in the 2nd half. But, like I said, fumble here, penality there. Too much going wrong tonight to just say running game. Too many times, we couldn't even get the ball to the QB, much less the RB. Hey Z....maybe G-ville's weakness is the color gold.....you know black and gold, green and gold, purple and gold......... :roflol:

I believe G-ville...if they keep their heads up, has a chance to win a few the rest of the way.

you may be on to something there

  7. Let me be the 1st to congrat. Westmoreland. They made the plays they had to. SC didn't. Everytime SC would get something going, penalty here, fumble there. Own worst enemy tonight, but Westy deserves the credit. They had penaltys and fumbles too.

What'd you think about the eagles offense tho?

Better than ours tonight....1 good run, 1 busted play where everybody was on the ground after the ball, except the QB, who picked it up and all but walked it in. Other than that....ball control and grind it out, which on a night like tonight was just the ticket. Not going to WOW anybody but if it seems to play well to the talent you have. Water seems to be SC weakness. With what SC does, throwing and catching suffers. Of coarse Westy's defense had a hand in it too.

Boobi, if you see the rest of the Westy bunch (Stampus and the likes) tell them they missed a golden oppertunity to poke a stick at us SC folks tonight. :roflolk:

So water is the weakness huh? I think it's probably the run, but I have only seen the pass game do really well in one game though, CC, so one could say they need to work on both, or get recievers to catch more. Although, very tough to pass on a night like tonight, heard there was like 11 total fumbles or something? Tough luck for the Owls, hard to score when you can't really attempt to do what you do well, the last time I think the rain effected them this bad was in 04' when they squeeked out a 6-0 win at Upperman in the monsoon. I'm sure the coaches will get em' to bounce back.

  8. quote]Size is not everything, as well as thinking you have a deep bench. You might expect to have a deep bench right now based on what is coming back, but that doesn't always turn out the case. But with 10 players who can BALL..... might as well give them the gold ball right now. They sound pretty unstoppable.

Not predicting a gold ball by any means but we will be unstoppable for Gordonsville and you'll have to play alot better than you did against FCS to beat us on the football field as well!

Can't wait for that game, it will be better than you think.

so 2 wins over two teams with a combined 2-18 record last year and your gettin cocky..... Doesn't take much does it? That 2-1 looks good until you see the caliber of competition. I wouldn't say anything about football until you beat a decent team. :thumb:

Hey 2 wins for our football program is big so we need to gloat a little!! :thumb: Hey i'm just messing with you anyways about all of this. Gordonsville always has great teams no matter what the sport is. We will have to play a great game to win against you guys no matter if its football or basketball. Good luck to the Tigers this year

I understand its all in fun, have to have something to do to pass the time by. I'm glad to see that Coach Loftis is having a successful year up there so far, wish him the best of luck, and you guys will be a very tough out this year in basketball as well. Probably a region contender. Hopefully will be an exciting year in region 4A.

  9. Gordonsville will have their hands full and will have to do a lot better than they did last friday to stay in this one. I hope they come out ready to play, I believe they will. Good luck to the Tigers Friday against the Jackets. This is still a young team and they will get better as the season goes on. Definitly the toughest 3 games on the schedule have been these first 3.

  10. I would say 8A will be pretty wide open, Gordonsville lost quite a bit, but have a pretty good group of younger players. Give the underclassmen some time and they will do fine I believe. I know FCS lost several big players. WHS and TC are usually at the bottom, but TC has a new coach, look for them to make some noise. I don't know what all RBS lost, but figure they will be 3rd or better.

  12. Gordonsville opens up with Pickett Co. at home, then goes to Jackson Co. Both are Hall of Fame games. How do you think these games will play out. Gordonsville will likely have half of their team still playing football.

Not sure how it will play out in Pickett but even with ALL your players it won't be pretty against JC so with half of them out playing football i bet the game gets cancelled otherwise it will be nothing more than a 50 point blow out in favor of JC with the JV playing most of the second half :flower:

JC has done what to be the favorite by that much? Not saying G-ville has done anything either, but what are you basing your prediction on?

JC returns all but one of their core players from last years squad and the freshman and sophs from last year are bigger and better this year. They would have beaten G-ville last year as they did Trousdale in the region tourney. JC will be a big team for Class A going 6'7 6'4 6'3 6'4 and 6'1 not to mention the deepest bench. They will have 10 players that can ball and all of them but 2 still underclassmen. Couple that with the fact that G-ville will still be playing football and it will make for a long night my friend.

  14. Call me crazy, but York may wind up ahead of Upperman. Its going to be interesting. I think the only "front-runner" would be Livingston, only because of what they do return and add on. The rest, other than Smith, is a toss-up.

I believe Smith County will do better than expected. They have a pretty good group of Soph's and Freshman, it wouldn't suprise me to see a couple of them playing and getting experience this year.
