  1. How does everyone think this district will stack up this season.

Also heard that Ferriss committed to Vandy. Congrats to her looking for a big season from her.

    1. Livingston still to much talent, have to replace Kilgore though.

    2. Upperman Lost a lot of guard play, still have Dyer inside to work with and still have the reputation to stay here.

    3. Cannon County heard they had a great summer, Sissom and Ruehlen are tough to handle.

    4. Smith County Never out of it with a 6'7 player

    5. York lost a lot this summer with the transfers to Clarkrange, but still have Rachel brown great player.

    6. Dekalb County looked good this summer playing very hard may get that win this year.

Looks pretty close to me, I think Cannon could do well this year.

I don't think Ferris signed with Vandy, could be wrong. really suprising if so......

  2.

Oh wise one..What does this game and "competition in their district" have to do with each other? "Days of 1 and done have come to an end"... You could be right. SC may go a few rounds deeper . What ball?? That lil ole 1A class state ball.........shoot I thought everybody in 1A had one of them. Seems like it anyway :geek:

Seems like about everyone in the State has one.... except for....... well you know

  3. I dont have anything to base a prediction on this game other than SC's win over CC, and what the Tigers have returning. Maybe it will be different than last year, I think with the Tigers returning most of their team it could be. Only time will tell.....

Hey Z.....Much has been made that G-ville is returning most of their team. Let's look at SC.

B.Johnssron-J.Johnston-L.Mckinney-G.Denny-P.Bray-J.Vance-N.Nuss (and 1 of G-villes X starters) H.Whigham on Offense alone. Without a roster I can only name Ponder-Bray-McKinney-Denney-Johnston-Johnston-on defense right now. There are many others that may not have been starters last year but played in at least 2 quarters in every game.

So.....with that being said..........isn't this real close to last years team...on both sides. A few to replace..on both sides. They have gotten bigger-stronger-more experience... on both sides... SO.......now what???

Well then I guess what your saying is SC has basically the same team? They didn't lose anybody they would miss this year???? If it's the same team as last years then they should do pretty good.

  4. LOL. At least 41-7. And yes I have seen Gville. Granted it was in the spring, but it wasn't even close to impressive. The Owls will do what they want, when they want. SC may just have a little extra this year for the kitties. Do the boo-birds come to the football games too? Or is that just other sports?

I was talking to Owlsrule about seeing Gordonsville, I knew you had.

As far as the Boo-Birds go, I know nothing about that.

I think he is talking about in Jr. High Basketball, at the County Tournament when the County MVP was named.

  5. One thing I can promise you is that SCs D-line is ready for whatever challenge G-villes O-line can dish out at them. Second, G-ville better learn some new coverages and quickly. Third, I promise that SC has NOT shown their full hand. Game plan and play calling seemed very simple and basic Friday night compared to what can happen.

We can't lay the ball on the ground and have ignorant referees who call crazy holding penalties. Other than that we are hanging 40 again! That's just my honest opinion as an innocent by-stander.

making promises on teenagers???? :thumb: I wouldn't promise what I cant totally control. just an opinion from an innocent by-stander.

  6. Don't think that will happen Z. The SC Q-back club now operates BOTH concession stands. You coming tonight? One day, I might have to tell you who Termite is. You might be suprised, then again you might not be.

Yeah, I'll be there tonight. I'm looking forward to finding out who Termite is one day. I sort of have an idea, but I'm probably way off.

  7. Now Howdy - I know you are going to "peep" at CoachT before you leave for The Hole. Let me join in with the other fine posters from SC to wish all CC fans a safe trip to The Hole and like you said, an injury free game and we wish all CC fans a safe trip home. Hope you enjoy the 7th Wonder of the World. Just tighten up your seat belt and grab hold of something.

7th wonder of the world? wow.... Maybe its the food that makes it such a great place?

Wow Z......when you turned...you really turned didn't you? Come on now.......I know you still have that SC stuff in your closet and you still feel "at home" when you walk into the SC gym. Ask Patrick about the great place stuff. He has even took up coaching the lil black and gold boys..

Trey went "back home" Z turned. Patrick will never turn. And poor ole Zach was held hostage.

I'll bet it's interseting around the house sometimes..a little balck and gold mixed with a little blue and white. Hey........did you cut Zach's hair? I haven't seen him in person, but I saw a picture. Ax murderer??

No I didnt cut Zach's hair but it's a good thing he got it cut. I wear the stuff to work in occasionally...lol j/k, so I guess that answers the question i still have it. The gym has changed a little since I played there, but I do still love going there. It's a great place. The "hole" has a great atmosphere about it and is a great place to watch a football game. I just like poking fun on here because I know I get under a certain concession stand person's skin lol. But I look forward to getting a Burger and Mt. Dew from Queeny tonight and seeing the 7th Wonder of the World!

  9. Well i do beleive that LA will be good jsut like usual and yes york is gettin another coach this season but it is also the same coach they had 2 years ago which took the team to region which is farther than have been in a while and this year he has more talent than he did 2 years ago coming in with 6 seniors who have played 2gether all their lives and with the freshman of the year gavan cook distributing he has Stephens which led them in scoring last season and Williams who didnt play near as much as he should've shooting the 3 and Maynard and Asberry who can jump out of the gym and a couple talented guys off the bench so if you ask me i beleive that you may be overlookin York just a little.....im not saying they'll be first but definately not last or close 2 the bottom

Is Ernie Winingham back as the York coach?

  10. Heard elbow problems...may be Tommy John type injury.....Nothing confirmed yet...as far as I know.

Just heard he will be out till February from having Tommy John surgery. Huge loss for the Owls, I certainly hate this for him as well.

  11. I heard some troubling news ....#54 out for the year????????????

I sure hope not...was expecting #54-#51-#72-#76 to provide leadership and experience to the O and D line.

What happened? Hopefully this is wrong, I sure hate that for him if it's true.

  12. I know SC won the game against FC, I was just saying they scored easy touchdowns. Winning is what matters and the only that matters. It is so much easier to WIN when you are able to score easy touchdowns, and not give up easy touchdowns get my drift buddy. Ok think about this, what would you rather have a 20 play drive, where every time you snap the ball, there is a chance to turn the ball over(I know there is a chance everytime, but the risk gets higher the more times you snap the ball in a series), or would you prefer to some a RB, WR, or QB make a big play i.e. easy touchdown, get momentum, and get your defense back out on the field?? I am pretty sure that football is a game of downs and yards. I mean who says its first and 359inches?? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> I mean come on. If you play the inches style of football well, I know for a fact that your teams aren't winning many games. The only time football is a game of inches is when its on the goalline or says it next to the markers in the middle of field.

I don't know much about football, but would it not be more beneficial to keep your defense off the field and give them a chance to rest? IMO I think it would be more beneficial to wear teams down by having a 20 play drive rather than a short drive. Just being around sports I know not many teams like playing defense because playing good defense is work and they get tired easier playing defense for long periods of time. Either way short scoring drives, long scoring drives I guess you could say they both have advantages. I see your point about quick TD's and momentum though.

  13. I don't see how you can say he started to change the program when they still went 0-24 in the district those two years. Why has Dekalb Co. had such a bad program over the last five years?

It's not just been the past 5 years that have been bad for them, they have not won a district game in a long time. I think around year 2000 was the last district win they had which was over Smith County, not totally sure on that but its been awhile.

  14. I agree! He is an excellent coach. Young, with alot of enthusiam and energy. Has back to back, twenty win seasons. Oh and I forgot to mention four of his starters are returning and that three of his starters are sophomores, and he has three young freshmen with so much potential. Sky is the limit for the lionettes, goodluck in the offseason and next season as well.

    Go Lions!!!!

He was doing the same thing in Smith County as well when he was there. Great Coach! Good luck to him and his team next season.

  15. HAHAHA wishful thinking? i would say so.... im calling a hogeye sweep /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

wow I'm suprised LA won but congrats to them. It's a little easier to call for a sweep now that one team has already won. Still think upperman boys win a close one tonight. Good luck to both girls teams in the substate.

  16. Well as I recall they brought it back to five and if they hadn't got that one big run trousdale wins the game and no answer for teeter right that's y he fouled out cuz he is weak to be a 6'6 post but 8a is very much stronger than 7a

I think we have a mad player here??? FCS didn't go 12-0 in regular season and continue that to 14-0 with tourney wins by being lucky. Give credit where credit is due. Teeter is pretty tough as well. Good luck to all 8A teams. Should be a good region tourney.

  17. Being a SC guy...I don't always know things about G-ville deals, I attend a few games and I know a lot of the kids there and their parents. I heard, from many, many sourses ( maybe even a coach) that G-ville was very deep this year. They could go 9-10 deep and never miss a beat. They had big men, they had shooters, handlers, the complete package and knowing some of the kids...I believed that. I was just wondering...did something happen along the way?? Did some kids not step up, fall out of favor, there seemed to be 2-3 that (again I'm no Coach) I though were going to be real players. 1-2 of them were last year..........and should have been even better this year. What gives???

We were hoping at the beginning of the year, we would be able to go that deep, but things change as the season goes on and you have to be able to change things up a little bit if your team can't play the style of ball you wish to. As far as not having the right personnel in, I really do not think it matters who we have out there sometimes.
