    Refereeing

The entire season up until the tournaments the referee kept the official time and the time clock/scoreboard was stopped at the two minute mark. For some reason they decided to use the score clock as the official time with the referee telling the people in the score booth when to stop and start the clock, like in football. He even used the signals used in football. And stopping the clock when a goal is scored??? Football yes, soccer no! Where do these refs learn the rules?

    Refereeing

I am confused as to some of tne "new" rules I saw utilized this past week in the soccer games I attended. When did stopping the clock when a goal was scored become a rule? Or when there was an injury? Or when there was a direct kick, penalty kick, and at times team substitutions? It has always been my understanding (I have been involved in soccer for almost 20 years) that the clock doesn't stop and if need be the referee adds time on at the end of the half if he deems it necessary to compensate for time spent on an injury. Also, why are the goalkeepers allowed to bounce the ball several times before getting rid of it. I beliee FIFA rules say that once the ball leaves the keepers had it is in play and may not be touched again by the keeper until it is touched by another player. I would also like to see TSSAA teach their referees better on calling off sides. Most of the refereee I have seen over the past 8 years have not learned what is offside and what is an offside position.
  3. I am sure that all teams involved will play hard and hopefully the refereeing willl be fair and unbiased. No one goes into a game to lose. It will all come down to which team is "on" that night. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and it will stay dry. Good Luck players!

    Giles vs CA

Believe it or not Forrest has a strong team this year and even with the suspensions are capable of beating CA on Tuesday. They could easily have beaten Page on their first outing if they had been playing up to par!! Two players does not a soccer team make. Last I knew a soccer team consisted of 11 players. Forrest has great depth on their bench and the loss of the two starting players may be an unwanted circumstance, the players coming off the bench will step up to the plate and make the school proud! CA may be rembering the team they played last year, and this is why the story is being told that CA intentionally lost to Giles, in order to put themselves into a better position for advancement. Watch out! Good Luck Forrest!!
  5. Dear Codyucla, I too was at the game and saw what happened. Amazing how differently individuals see the same incident. !!!!! But videos don't lie! Too bad Page only got one suspension out of a situation created by a Page player, who had incidentaly, been all over the top of the Forrest player the entire game. Forrest recieved two suspensions. Congratulations Forrest on winning the District tournament!! I knew you could beat Page. You could have beat them the first time if you had all been playing up to par that evening. But then again your losing to Page the first time probably gave then (Page) a false sense of being better, and a misguided notion that they could easily beat you the second time around. Good Luck in Regionals!!
  6. sorry I'm new at this. A Forrest player was jumped from behind by a Page player. There is video that shows this.
  7. A Page player jumped a Forrest player after the game. Sore loser. My understanding these players have been suspended for one game.
