  1. This looks like the top five teams for next year. I would probably add Riverdale as number 6. I think I saw a post that indicated they had only two seniors this year.

Of course, everyone will likely be playing for second. Farragut will be too dominate next year.

Riverdale did only have two seniors. Patrick Compton and Eli Genet. Most of their scoring came from Compton (I think 22 goals) but David Pleitez (Junior) and Jordan Higgs (Sophomore) had most of the rest of the goals. Total goals for the team was around 63. Riverdale consistantly started 4 freshmen and with one year under their belt they will come out strong next year.

  2. 1st Half - 20 min in - Cleveland (#4) scored on a header off direct kick.

1st Half - 30 min in - Riverdale (#9) scored on a rebound off post following nice give and go from #10.

1st Half - Just before Half - Cleveland (#18) scored on rebound following low bullet shot from 18 yd line by #10.

Exciting second half. Both teams played hearts out and should be very proud. Extremely muddy conditions.

Good recap of the game. It was one of the best games I have watched in a long time. We did not get the result we wanted but I am very pleased with the season that Riverdale had. It was my son, Patrick Compton's (10) last game as a Warrior and I am very proud of him. This team has played all year with the heart of Warriors and I am very proud of them. I will miss attending these games and watching them play although I will try to attend future games.

Good Luck to Cleveland. They are a good team and should go far. If we had to lose, I do not mind losing to a team like Cleveland.

  3. I'd say its best to leave the past in the past.............It was one hard fought battle by both teams and one of the best second half comebacks i've seen in sometime.

Columbia definitely deserved to win based on their play in the second half. Good luck to Columbia against McMinn

  4. Columbia has scored 26 goals this year and their opponents have scored 17.

Riverdale has scored 60 goals this year and their opponents have scored 11.

    You be the judge

  5. I understand the whole "cheering for the team that has not been there yet" or "let someone else win for a change" but the facts remain, good coaching, good players and lots of heart has put Riverdale in this position again. Weather is a variable that cannot be controlled. When Riverdale decided to play on Monday night last week (scheduled day) people cried foul. Now that they cannot play due to weather people are crying foul. Sunday is Mother's day and Monday is the night before a knock out game. Siegel will get their chance and they may win against Riverdale but we cannot change things that cannot be changed.

  6. I agree 100%. A PK shoot out really isn't a way to determine the champion and hopefully Siegel and Riverdale will meet again in the future. But does anyone know if there will be a district champion now? Who will the trophy go to? It would make sense to give it to Riverdale due to their undefeated season, but that would be unfair to Siegel in many ways.

The District Championship and trophy obviously goes to the undefeated team, Riverdale. Siegel had a great regular season and played well against Riverdale but the final was 2-0 to the undefeated team. There is nothing unfair about that. Siegel needs to beat Columbia and they will get a shot at being Regional Champs on Thursday of next week. The ultimate goal here is to get to the State Championship and you can lose both the District Championship game and the Regional Championship game and still do that. You can also win both of these games and not go to state.

  7. hopefully the channel 2 weather lady is wrong and we don't have 2 games on saturday

or even worse we don't play at all

I HOPE WE DO GET TO PLAY

If they do not play because of rain on Friday and Saturday, what happens?

  8. Riverdale played awfully well last night, and they capitalized on their chances when they received a fortuitous bounce of the ball. They can go a long way.

Cookeville had a good season, and the Cookeville kids have a lot to be proud of. They never gave up at any point, and they exercised good sportsmanship throughout the entire season. Cookeville players were shown a yellow card only 3 times all season (no reds, either).

We'll miss the rivalries with the redisctricting, but we sure won't miss having to travel to Murfreesboro 3-5 times per season. Good luck to Riverdale and Siegel the rest of the way!

My son is the captain of the Riverdale squad and he had nothing but praises for the Cookeville players. He said this before the game last night and afterwards. The parents were a class act as well. Cookeville had a great season and they have a good future. Thanks for the good matchups.

  9. So far im money. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

You better call Obama for a bailout because your money just ran out.

  10. As the post season tournament continues, what teams pulled an upset and what are the big name teams that have already ended their season? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Surprises in the Riverdale area based on last year and the outlook for this year have to be Blackman and Shelbyville. Both have good players but their seasons were up and down. They will both rebound and come back strong next year.

  11. I have not heard anything about this.. do you have reliable sources?

Latest message from Coach Arman is that we are to play at Blackman at 6 pm Thursday. If that does not happen, alternative is at Siegel High. Coach said he would let us know. When he does I will let everyone know.

  12. District 7AAA Quarterfinals

    Riverdale 7

    Warren Co 0

    Siegel 1

White Co 0 White County did chose not to show up.

    Cookeville 3

    Blackman 0

Oakland 3 Red Card given to a defender for Oakland

    Lebanon 2

Semi's at Blackman High on Thursday night

    Oakland (3) vs Siegel (2)

    Cookeville (5) vs Riverdale (1)

  13. Cookeville vs Riverdale

    Oakland vs Siegel

not sure of the day or times

    Any details???

First goal was a defender mistake. Ball got behind him and Roger Ucles ran on to it and had a 1 v 1 with Applebee.

Second goal came off of a free kick when a Blackman player fouled Ucles outside the box along the goal line. The free kick was played by Ucles to a near post player who deflected it into the goal.

Third goal happened when the ball was misplayed by defender to Ucles who went 1 on 1 with Applebee again.

All of this happened in the second half as the score was 0-0 at half. Blackman had a few opportunities but could not finish. Congrats to Cookeville and good luck to the seniors from Blackman on a pretty good year.

  14. Please tell me if the district championship game is on Saturday. Do the players really need a day rest in between the first and semi round games? The championship game should be Friday so that they have a day's rest in between the semis and finals.

The district tournament semis and finals are at Blackman, but because Blackman has a football game on Friday the finals are on Saturday.

  15. Thanks RVDSD if feel much better now . I guess anything football is more important at your school as it is our school. AINT' THAT A SHAME !!

You might want to find out why your field is not available on Friday night before you say this.

  16. If it were a regular season game , I would have to agree. But the tournament should be different .The games should be played on a level field not on crowned field tipped in the favor of one team !! Pun intended

Just to let everyone know. I spoke with Coach and the reason Riverdale is playing tonight and not tomorrow night is that the field is not available tomorrow due to a football scrimmage which was scheduled. Also the field is in pretty good shape as it is the oldest and best school in town and has the best field. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  17. Sounds like the right thing to do in all fairness.

You guys know Coach Arman. Do you think those boys will be home kicked back and resting or practicing? We will also get to come watch our next favorite teams compete against the out-of-towners. We still have to get past Warren County and that is the only game we are thinking about.

  18. I was referring to Siegel's last games as I heard some players were banged up but if not /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> . Games tonight we will see who is ready and who isn't. Blackman is a really weak team now this game can go either way as they both just played each other last week. Any words on the fields ? I heard Lavergne Smyrna was upheld till tomorrow night.

Heard from a pretty reliable sorce that Siegel's field was very wet and muddy and game there could be postponed but I do not know that for sure. Can anyone confirm?

  19. Is there no reseeding after the first round of games? Lets say a lower seed wins.

There is no reseeding. The brackets are 1,8,4,5 to determine the first finalist and 2,7,3,6, to determine the other.

  20. Can I assume that no one really knows who is going to match up with who yet? I haven't seen a post by Whitey yet. Someone already has added Blackman vs White County on May 5????? I'll wait to see a true schedule before posting my predictions.

That Blackman vs White Co has been there for a couple of weeks.

Based on what I understand with Blackman's tie last night they finish 4th and Cookeville finishes 5th so they play each other first in the tournament. Siegel finishes 2nd so they play White Co. Oakland plays Lebanon. Winner of Oak vs Leb plays the winner of Siegel vs White Co. The winner of Riv vs Warren Co plays the winner of Cookeville vs Blackman. 1st round is Monday night at the higest seed's home field and the semis are at 6 and 8 on Tuesday night at Blackman. Finals are Thursday night at Blackman. Whitey correct me if I am wrong.

  21. I would love it if Cookeville wins.

Blackman and Cookeville tied 2-2 (according to Blackman Parent)

    Final standings

    1. Riverdale

    2. Siegel

    3. Oakland

    4. Blackman

    5. Cookeville

    6. Lebanon

    7. White Co.

    8. Warren County
