  1. Sure you can... Just ask Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.
  2. Stopping him is not necessarily the only way. It's not that Mt. Pleasant has to be held to less than 21 points to be beaten, it's just that you have to have more than they do at the end of the game. If you don't stop him, you outscore him.
  3. Well, let's analyze Columbia Academy's schedule... CA vs. Forrest - Forrest's record isn't looking bad at all, but considering they scored almost twice as many points against CA as any other team they've played, that doesn't say good things. CA vs. Franklin Road - Only game Franklin's won all year. CA vs. Moore Co. - Moore County has beat Cornersville, and has yet to find another win. CA vs. Perry Co. - Pretty close game, Perry Co. comes off with a win, and hasn't beaten anyone the Trojans haven't already beaten this year, except CA. CA vs. Wayne County - I would say this one surprised me. I would've never thought CA would've beaten Waynesboro. Regardless, it's hard to say that CA is a contender for quite possibly the nuber two spot in the region off this one game. Looks like the door swings both ways.
  4. At the time, I wasn't sure if he was, but I do know now he is. As far as I know Jessup's still gonna be at the QB position and Borden will be playing the running back. 7 on 7 starts next week for the Trojans, so we'll see what kind of passing game we got. I was personally impressed to see Jessup throwing 40+ yard passes on the money yesterday at practice, I didn't know he had that kind of an arm. Of course, he didn't have any shoulder pads to hinder him, but they shouldn't hinder him much if Coach Statom has any idea what kind of shoulder pads to give a quarterback. I'm anxious to see how it goes, and I'll definitely be keeping any eye on how Waynesboro and Mt. Pleasant in their scrimmages. Coach Rice scares me at Waynesboro, and we all know who scares us at Mt. Pleasant.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised if Waynesboro doesn't give everyone a run for their money with Coach Rice in charge. I also know that a lot of the Waynesboro line is coming back, which always helps. But they're not the only ones with players coming back. If Borden gets to play, that will put Dixon, Daniel, Risner, and Borden in the Collinwood backfield, with over half the line coming back as Seniors as well. Any of those Seniors in the backfield can run the ball and be effective. Daniel is probably the same size as Cale, only in a more suitable position to run the ball. I feel like it's a shame Cale can't play running back, as I think he would be most effective there. But without a quarterback to manage things, the offense can't function. I feel like the offense Coach Statom plans on running will open up options for every back Collinwood has, not to mention make the job easy for an already experienced line. We can't really say anything with any authority until we see some scrimmages, but looking at the personnel, I don't think Collinwood will be struggling to hold their own on the field. I've been wrong before, though.
  6. Actually, ironically enough, he quit football for a job, to work. I've heard he does regret it a bit, but nothing can be done about it now. And do you realize that he played the year Collinwood had only three or four seniors playing and didn't the year he had just almost an entire returning line and backfield? I wouldn't say he quit because the going got tough. As for being the best quarterback in the region, I don't know. Could be, could not be, he's got stiff competition for the spot. I would more than likely count on Jessup not being the kind of stud Colt Risner or his brother was. Not only is he playing a different position, but there's too many other backs returning this year that are going to contribute to the offense.
