  1. Huntingdon relies too heavily on 18. Return man, qb, safety...makes most the tackles. 15 is fast, but is a stick and in this district sticks get beat. 44 was very impressive. 18 is a flat out all district/all state athlete. After watching huntingdon, I had flashbacks to their dominating run game two years ago. That o line coach is special! I go with the district 13 team because we are the best district in west tennessee by far. Riverside looked like a mash unit out there. Good win Stangs. See you in 9 games!

I agree somewhat hog, Huntingdon relies on 18 because 18 is the toughest kid on the field and maybe the toughest kid in the state. 4 year starter this year. Huntingdon does not have that one back like Holder 2 years ago that can get 30 touches a game, however they do have 4 and maybe even 5 guys that can split carries and keep legs fresh. O-line IMO is a work in process. Great size and strength but i still feel something has not clicked yet. I do believe it will click and when it does Huntingdon will be fun to watch. As far as this week goes, I'm saaying Huntingdon by 4 or 5 TDs. Trenton has speed but wont be able to handle huntingdon up front. Good luck to both teams and go blue!

  2. all the carroll county teams looks sharp in the jamboree last week. I think im going to pick Huntingdon before i pick McKenzie. they looked a hellava lot better then McKenzie did. I also think Bruceton can play this year. my top 3 in region...1.Huntingdon 2. Bruceton 3. Mckenzie (2 and 3 can go either way)

Let's not get too hopeful just yet. Bruceton looks much better than they did two years ago, but they are still a LONG way away from beating Huntingdon or McKenzie. It just won't happen this year. Huntingdon and McKenzie will play for the district title when they meet week 8. I will say that Bruceton does have a good shot at 3rd place this year. I dont think Dresden will be very good this year.

  3. LOL...what source did that come from?

South Side and Huntingdon play next Friday night. After watching SS last night, they're going to be a very solid team this year.

I believe you received some bad info sir. Huntingdon plays Riverside next friday (week 0) not Southside. Huntingdon did scrimmage SS this past Tuesday and beat them like a drum. Score was around 6 or 7 to 2 i believe.

  4. Mustang players, I wish I could ban all of you from this site but I can't. But there are a few things I want all of you to know.

The true football fans in Huntingdon are behind you and will back you till the very end. Remember that, no matter what else is written and play every play as though it would be your last!!! Keep your heads up and wear the Blue and Gold with pride.

and lets include the coaching staff with that

  5. Hello again! From reading these posts on here, I am not sure if the Huntingdon faithful understand certain things. I had to read the Jackson Sun to understand what happened to the Mustangs night. It seemed like to me from reading that Swenson didnt fumble all those balls. Nor did the other coaches. But these "Guru's" out here blame it and totally bash Swenson mostly.

Dont forget whom your coach is, players!! He wont fail you! I am sure, if I know him like I do, that was was up all night thinking of how he can make an offense work. I bet you that he will probably have his team READY next week. If its a formation change to a realignment of persoannel.

It seems like several negative people in Huntingdon dont like Swenson, thinking he made EVERY mistake in this game. Even State Championship teams make mistakes!! If all it is fumbles, then I wouldnt be to concerned. Doesnt Union City run a highly risky offense (veer, i believe). What if they fumbles ever how many times. Guess what, they are going down too!!

Old Gold mentioned that several old coaches would be rolling in there graves after seeing this last game. I bet they also rolled in there graves when a fellow Huntingdon Mustange like YOU, got on message board and publicly said that our current head coach is what he is!! You should change your name to somebody from somewhere else. Huntingdon faithful should not pay anttention to you nor have ANTYHING TO DO WITH YOU!!! This was week 1, what faith you must have in the Mustang program to make such comments after just 1 single game!

To the Huntingdon players, the 1996-2003 teams believed in his offense system, If I am right they scored more points than most teams in the entire state IN ALL 5 CLASSES those years. Believe in that system, and execute it, good things will come!!

Several people want to know who i am. I am an old friend from the EAST. I was good friends with Swenson and one of my close friends Malcom Pendergrass. People have asked if i am his wife. Nope, just a friend from his hometown of Harriman.

I agree with a lot of this. Im as big of a Swenson fan as anyone around here. I know how he won here earlier, how he won at Hickman County, and how hes turned down offensive coordiantor jobs at some of the biggest schools in the state. One of my previous post mentioned how last year and in previous years they ran the same offense. It won then. Terrance Bell rushed for 350+ yards and 6 TDS in the state game in 03, Boo Weathers ran for thousands of yards in this offense, Chris Donald never had trouble with the offensive system, Kennon Holder now holds the TSSAA state rushing record in a single game because of Swenson's offense. So i believe i would put some of the blame on the players. No leadership up front, no execution with the ball snap or QB-RB exchange. And another thing. How can anyone blame Swenson for not having players to play. Is it his fault that kids chose to play golf instead of football? No way. I'm behind Swenson 100% and think he will do great things for this program if given enough support

  6. i agree with the weird offense! all u got to do against huntingdon is put 14 people in the box.. lol they dont throw it got all 11 players in a big ball.. i have never saw any thing like it in my life.. only way it will work if their o line was just absolutely awesome, which they are big but didnt block very well. mustangs backs have alot of speed but dont get any day light in the BALL FOrmation!.. Westview is good and we will have a tough test next week, but the mustangs definitely helped them out

... if the mustangs get down big in a game they need to just hang it up... they can't throw i dont understand when they are gonna figure that out

OldGold i agree with every word you just said and i like this post as well. Swenson's offense worked last year most games because the offensive line was way better. They had leaders on the o-line last year. Walters and Carter were both 3 year starters and they led the front. This year i havent seen any of that. There is some game experience up front, but no leader. And Holder is gone. Someone is going to have to step up in the backfield and make something happen. Holder did it running Swenson's offense, so why cant someone else? Im as disappointed in the program right now as i ever have been in my years as a fan. There was never any cheering from the fans, and i dont even think i heard the band play last night. It's gonna be a long year

  7. i saw bruceton play for the first time last night and in my opinion the answer to this question is no, they wont win a game. i also have a question. all i hear about is how that #31 kid is just the best player and is all state material. he didnt play last year against Huntingdon and last night he was in jeans. whats his deal? and if i sounded rude i didnt mean to be. i hope the tigers pull out some victories this year, but i just dont know if the o-line is going to be able to move the ball and get in the endzone enough to win a game. good luck tho

  8. I remember seeing that happen. Someone told me he moved schools.

yeah i believe that was actually the rumor. kids didnt see him around school for a few weeks but he came back. turned out he was put in alternative school for other reasons. swenson let the team vote i believe and they decided he was finished. probably the most embarrassed ive ever been as a mustang fan

  9. Hmmmm... I'm not sold on Huntingdon this year. They lost both of their RB's. Kennon Holder graduated and Brittan Thompson moved from Huntingdon if I remember correctly. Swenson is a great coach, but those 2 losses are huge. I'd put Union City in there before I would Huntingdon easily.

Also, Wayne Co. had a GREAT team last year that played with Union City somewhat. They return their QB as well as several other players. To be honest, if Wayne Co. stays healthy, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in Cookeville.

no, Thompson was kicked off the team for starting a fight with his teammates on the field in the middle of the UC game last year. Huntingdon has looked a little shaky so far this year graduated their two best offensive lineman last year as well as an all region full back and a all state RB. Also learned that the 2 year starting center is out for them. They havent impressed me very much so far this pre-season but maybe they'll get rolling pretty soon

  10. Huntingdon is getting stronger and stronger as the days go by. Played Friendship Christian (number one team in TN class A) last night and would have probably won if it wasn't for errors. Record doesn't say much but its by far the toughest schedule we've ever played. I believe we play Bruceton on Mon. and Tues. next week as well as rival Riverside on Thursday. These kids are playing great right now and will probably make another State Championship run this year as well

  11. Well SP might have all these athletes coming back and they may be D1 prospects and all this but let me tell you what those Huntingdon Mustangs have coming back. First of all let me remind you of Kennon Holder. He sort of made a name for himself last season by running for 503 yards in one game. Behind the offensive line which is returning everyone but 2. The defense this season is returning 8 starters. So thats a pretty big deal as well. But the most important thing Huntingdon is returning this season is Pride. This team wants to win. Coaches say they work as hard in the weightroom than anyone they have ever coached. During the dead period last week i saw about 10 of the guys runnin thru town. These kids want it bad and with desire and good coaching they can beat anyone. Mark my word

  12. I haven't seen anyone play in a few years like Ryan Myles did today. He was a one man wrecking crew. Did anybody see the hit on the fullback and then a few plays later hit the guard that was pulling through the hole. Stood him up and wobbled him for a few plays. If we could get the rest to hit like that we'd be in good shape on defense.

I think the defense was great. The only time Hickman scored was a long fade against a 4th string corner. A whole lot of depth on this years D

  13. Is the hickman county scrimmage here

I hear it's at Bethel. Not for sure though. Looks as if the whole team will play in that one. I guess it's time for the baseball players to put the round ball up for a few months and pop on some pads. I believe the defense should be much stronger with those guys returning this week

  14. Who won????????

Huntingdon wins District 13A with a 16-2 victory over Clarksburg. Great tournament this week. Great job of playing tourney even with the weather. Huntingdon's principal got a helicoptor to fly over the field for about an hour today to dry the field off and it worked. Congrats to the Mustangs on their victory and the Rockets with finishing 2nd.

  15. I've been a Huntingdon Mustang Fan for many many years. I'm really looking forward to coming to Union City this season and renew a rivalry. I was wanting a little info on UC. They had a great year last year but i think ive heard they are losing some players. Huntingdon is not losing much at all. 9 returning starters on defense and i believe 7 on offense. We'll be tough this year. Cant wait to play UC this year. Talk of the town is UC will be a Week 14 game as well if everything plays out right. Good Luck to UC

  16. These guys are the real deal.

    HAHAHAHA /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Are you talking about the Camden Lions? From Camden, Tennessee? Wow, can't believe i'm reading this. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  17. Who is pitching besides the Hatch kid?

Pitching was a big question in the pre-season. Hatch right now is 0-2 but that was when Mustangs bats were cold. Caleb Crocker (senior) is 1-1. Ben Carter and Jay Pierce (both juniors) are each 1-0. Also Dylan Clifft and Sean Kendall (juniors) will see a lot of time on the hill this season.

  18. Huntingdon is finally on track. Bats were very slow in the first three games. We've won 3 of the last 4. Beat Loretto, Harpeth, and Giles County in the Courrier Classic in Savannah. Lots of talent on this years team. Look for the Mustangs to make another run for a state title once again.

  19. Has anyone heard who made the All-Region team? I would think that Holder would have a chance at Offensive MVP and my vote for the Defensive MVP would go to the linebacker from Adamsville. His stats coming into the Huntingdon game against us were huge and he made a believer out of me. He was all over the field and is a tackling machine. Sorry, but I can't recall his name. He's good...

Mr Mustang, if you dont already know here are those that made all region:

    Kennon Holder-Junior

    Tyler Simpson-Junior

    Ben Carter-Junior

    Zack Wallace-Sophomore

    Caleb Crocker-Senior

    Daniel Thomas-Senior

Looks like a lot of talent will be returning for the Stangs in 09... Moving down to 1A... Im looking forward to a possible trip to the Boro /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  20. Go Cardinals. Don't quit no matter what happens. If there are Adamsville players on this site reading, I think you have the better team. Go out and prove it. Play until the last play as hard as you can. Don't let the name Huntingdon intimidate you. They are at best an average team. They lucked up against Waverly so don't let them do it to you. Go Cardinals.

Sounds to me like papatiger has a serious problem and should get some help as soon as possible... Great win for the Mustangs last night. I knew they had it in them. We struggled early but now we got things together and are rolling. Any players that might read this Good luck at USJ play hard for 4 quarters and anything can happen. And to you papa... You have no class at all
