  1. I agree somewhat hog, Huntingdon relies on 18 because 18 is the toughest kid on the field and maybe the toughest kid in the state. 4 year starter this year. Huntingdon does not have that one back like Holder 2 years ago that can get 30 touches a game, however they do have 4 and maybe even 5 guys that can split carries and keep legs fresh. O-line IMO is a work in process. Great size and strength but i still feel something has not clicked yet. I do believe it will click and when it does Huntingdon will be fun to watch. As far as this week goes, I'm saaying Huntingdon by 4 or 5 TDs. Trenton has speed but wont be able to handle huntingdon up front. Good luck to both teams and go blue!
  2. Let's not get too hopeful just yet. Bruceton looks much better than they did two years ago, but they are still a LONG way away from beating Huntingdon or McKenzie. It just won't happen this year. Huntingdon and McKenzie will play for the district title when they meet week 8. I will say that Bruceton does have a good shot at 3rd place this year. I dont think Dresden will be very good this year.
  3. I believe you received some bad info sir. Huntingdon plays Riverside next friday (week 0) not Southside. Huntingdon did scrimmage SS this past Tuesday and beat them like a drum. Score was around 6 or 7 to 2 i believe.
  4. and lets include the coaching staff with that
  5. I agree with a lot of this. Im as big of a Swenson fan as anyone around here. I know how he won here earlier, how he won at Hickman County, and how hes turned down offensive coordiantor jobs at some of the biggest schools in the state. One of my previous post mentioned how last year and in previous years they ran the same offense. It won then. Terrance Bell rushed for 350+ yards and 6 TDS in the state game in 03, Boo Weathers ran for thousands of yards in this offense, Chris Donald never had trouble with the offensive system, Kennon Holder now holds the TSSAA state rushing record in a single game because of Swenson's offense. So i believe i would put some of the blame on the players. No leadership up front, no execution with the ball snap or QB-RB exchange. And another thing. How can anyone blame Swenson for not having players to play. Is it his fault that kids chose to play golf instead of football? No way. I'm behind Swenson 100% and think he will do great things for this program if given enough support
  6. OldGold i agree with every word you just said and i like this post as well. Swenson's offense worked last year most games because the offensive line was way better. They had leaders on the o-line last year. Walters and Carter were both 3 year starters and they led the front. This year i havent seen any of that. There is some game experience up front, but no leader. And Holder is gone. Someone is going to have to step up in the backfield and make something happen. Holder did it running Swenson's offense, so why cant someone else? Im as disappointed in the program right now as i ever have been in my years as a fan. There was never any cheering from the fans, and i dont even think i heard the band play last night. It's gonna be a long year
  7. Im a Huntingdon fan and ill be the first one to admit this. I watched Mckenzie last night and i honestly believe this is the year they win it all. i dont see many times being able to keep up with them. they're big, fast, and physical. Good luck on your season, maybe my mustangs can atleast give you a fight, but you're good, real good
  8. i saw bruceton play for the first time last night and in my opinion the answer to this question is no, they wont win a game. i also have a question. all i hear about is how that #31 kid is just the best player and is all state material. he didnt play last year against Huntingdon and last night he was in jeans. whats his deal? and if i sounded rude i didnt mean to be. i hope the tigers pull out some victories this year, but i just dont know if the o-line is going to be able to move the ball and get in the endzone enough to win a game. good luck tho
  9. yeah i believe that was actually the rumor. kids didnt see him around school for a few weeks but he came back. turned out he was put in alternative school for other reasons. swenson let the team vote i believe and they decided he was finished. probably the most embarrassed ive ever been as a mustang fan
  10. no, Thompson was kicked off the team for starting a fight with his teammates on the field in the middle of the UC game last year. Huntingdon has looked a little shaky so far this year graduated their two best offensive lineman last year as well as an all region full back and a all state RB. Also learned that the 2 year starting center is out for them. They havent impressed me very much so far this pre-season but maybe they'll get rolling pretty soon
  11. Huntingdon is getting stronger and stronger as the days go by. Played Friendship Christian (number one team in TN class A) last night and would have probably won if it wasn't for errors. Record doesn't say much but its by far the toughest schedule we've ever played. I believe we play Bruceton on Mon. and Tues. next week as well as rival Riverside on Thursday. These kids are playing great right now and will probably make another State Championship run this year as well
  12. I saw some district teams watching Huntingdon yesterday. I believe they sent a strong message about who will win the district again this year. Bats are rollin better than i've seen in a long long time.
  13. Well SP might have all these athletes coming back and they may be D1 prospects and all this but let me tell you what those Huntingdon Mustangs have coming back. First of all let me remind you of Kennon Holder. He sort of made a name for himself last season by running for 503 yards in one game. Behind the offensive line which is returning everyone but 2. The defense this season is returning 8 starters. So thats a pretty big deal as well. But the most important thing Huntingdon is returning this season is Pride. This team wants to win. Coaches say they work as hard in the weightroom than anyone they have ever coached. During the dead period last week i saw about 10 of the guys runnin thru town. These kids want it bad and with desire and good coaching they can beat anyone. Mark my word
  14. I think the defense was great. The only time Hickman scored was a long fade against a 4th string corner. A whole lot of depth on this years D
