Did Donte' Hightower and Justin Neal leave? Or has the addition of the LaVergne coach changed their minds?

All the players are still playing. And from what I understand they are loving the new scheme of things.

Thomas will bring some much needed discipline to that team as well as great x's and o's. MC was competitive the past 3 years with bad coaching I am excited to see them with good coaching. And yes Thomas knows the offense. He was the one that decided to go to this offense i am sure he attended all the clinics and school visits where they learned it. Region 3-5A will be dominated with good coaches.

I think Coach Thomas is a good fit for the tigers, but lets not call all the mistakes bad coaching. Some of the coaches from the past season were very disciplined and pushed for discipline. Also the players have to run, tackle, and block. So I think the blame can be put on the players also at times. I went to almost every game and sometimes the players didn't make plays. And no matter if your are Phil Fulmer or Bear Bryant the players have to make it happen. I wish nothing but success for Thomas, it will be interesting to see how the players react to such a disciplinarian. From what I understand the coaches will be here in a couple of days, can't wait to see what happens.

I'll agree that Cheatham Co. was not a very good defensive football team this past year BUT it must also be stated that in 2005 the Cubs were a dominating defensive football team. From that second round team just two years ago the Cubs lost 10 STARTERS OFF THE DEFENSE!!!! There were a lot of sophomores and juniors starting on defense at CCCHS this past year (even two freshmen started as well). It doesn't automatically mean that the defense is going to be lights out dominant once again at Cheatham next year BUT I would bet on the defense being a lot better next year.

 

If Marshall Co. gets better on defense then they may not lose a game. Not with talent like Braden, Hightower, & O'Neal coming back next year

Same at MCHS all three linbackers were new at that position, from the year before only some of the secodary kids played their position from the previous year, but I'm not making any excused for our team. Discipline killed us on every aspect of the game. Hopefully those things will change and we can play with some consistency in all phases of the game.

They sure do need help on the defensive side of the football THAT IS FOR CERTAIN!!!

The difference in MCHS gave up 296 points and Cheatham gave up 248 points. We were not very good on defense this past season, I can agree. But the difference is between Clarksville Quarterfinals and Harpeth 1-9. So I guess we could say we both need some work on defense. Agreed

Forget about skill level, grade, or whose child it is. From what I took from Coach Thomas you have a choice whether you play or not. That is the only option you are given. Everyone is gonna follow the teams rules.

I know that one quit because of the hair cut rule. The others just didn't want to play football anymore.

The meeting went well, Coach Thomas told everyone what his expectations were and left it at that, if you want to play you will do things his way or you will find something else to do.

People been telling me the when DT talked to the kids he told them that there will be no family vacations, percings, a dress code change, practice on sundays at 3, (etc) is that true if it is there in for a Big change. i agree that we need a tougher coach and we got it.

All I can say is that it will be very interesting tonight @ the 6:00 parent meeting?

Everyone seems to only put initials so the next man at MCHS is DT talked with DP yesterday about what it would take to get him there. Was contacted earlier but said he wouldn't talk until his game against smyrna was over.

Do you think he would leave his current job to come here? If they could get him that would be a excellent choice. He is a good football coach. He would also be a good fit for the players

Need to get the egos out of Marshall County and let a staff come in to take advantage of the skill that you all have there. Get some true support from the administration and quit worrying about who gets the credit. Do you people of "power" in Marshall County realize that you are viewed as a joke by the majority of Tennessee now? That was not the case a few years back. You have the talent level to compete every year. Quit cheating the kids and leave a staff in place long enough to get something done. You had a great staff a couple of years back and you blew it. Do some research this time and bring a quality staff back in to get a tough, but certainly attainable, job done.

I agree with discipline 100%, a football team can win or lose a game with or without it.

The tigers need a coach with discipline, a coach who cares about the players, not one who is a hand puppet for the adminstration or the community. A great football mind would be a good asset along with enthusiam.

The problem in Marshall Co. is they are letting the wrong people pick and fire the coaches, honestly what coach is his right mind would take the chance the last two coaches took. I just hope they don't forget about the players in their selection process

I just hope they hire somebody who is a good fit for the players and not who the community whats. They always seen to forget about the players, the most important part of any program.

What are they doing with the players while the search is on, seeing that everything is kinda out of order right now. I hope they are lifting and preparing themselves for next year. Any layoff could equal another losing season.

Anybody with any common sense knows what I'm talking about. This county has fired 2 coaches because of the people in the community. They don't have a clue about the players because their is no support system here!!!!

If all these people are saying that practice time and conditioning were not a problem please tell us why you went 3-7? What are your reasons? I have seen one WJ supporter on here expain why a very tallented team went 3-7? And dont say injuries because every team in history of football has had to deal with injuries!

I have watched from the sideline long enough and lets start from the beginning. The funny thing is that you people think you know so much about football, but I never saw the support from all these people who claim they liked WJ or the MC program. Tiger walks were pathethic no fan support, and the last 4-5 years the crowds have been horrible. I hope one of you people who have some much to say take the job and see the reality of this county. You won't have any support from the administration, they are suppose to support the program not hinder it.

As for you people who stated that practice ended at 3:30, where do you get your info from, I watched practice many days and they never got throught before 6 or 6:30. Get a clue.

Firing WJ may have been the right thing to do, but the kids are still gonna suffer because they will have to get use to a new coach and sometimes that takes time. The players will have to learm a new system and what if they don't pick it up soon enough what are we gonna do then fire him too.

Please MC get a clue about the sport of football and what it takes to have a good program.

I finally got a treat and saw the defense play for 4 tough quarters. If the D continues to plays like that good things will happen for the Tigers. The stat sheet said they held Creekwood to 73 yards rushing. Good luck Tigers!!!

We're flattered guys really. but hey what about Marshall County? They beat Spring Hill by 3 and they had to come back in the 4th quarter, so how do they stack up now, after week zero? Has the hype died down in tiger land? Now dont get me wrong a wins a win but come on
