  1. the only thing i know is they run it about 70% of the time and that is according to the tennesseean stats. I think it will be a lot like the melrose teams. we can't seem to get much info from them.

Melrose is much better!!! Melrose "D" this year and in years past is stronger than Maplewood. Maplewood offense a little better than Melrose. I would rather face Maplewood than Melrose again.

Good luck to both teams. Injury free I pray.

  2. Returning starters on offense include

    LG Josh CLark

    RT Jouey Williams

    WR Skylar Haley

    QB Marsalis Teague

    RB Dominique ALlen

    Defensively

    Shonte Sims db

    Marsalis Teague db

    Neal Capps db

    Robbie Gallimore LB

    Joe Paul Hayes DE

    Austin Bomar DE

These guys all started a lot this season and their are others who played significant roles, the future definitely looks bright!

I agree! There are a few who have been in the shadows who will step right in and not miss a beat!

Congrats Pats on a wonderful season!! Look forward to next year. It just keeps getting better!!!!

  3. The Tennessean is picking Melrose to win 21-19. His picks were 9-1 last week. The guys are used to being the underdog and love proving everyone wrong!

Calling all the Big Red Nation-

WE NEED THE STADIUM PACKED WITH RED. WE MUST BE LOUD AND ON OUR FEET!!!!!! THE CROWD CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN THIS GAME!!!!!!!

The boys deserve home field advantage. Many of these boys went into the Mound and beat the Wildcats last year. All that travel with the team know our away crowd is louder than our home crowd and that is sad. PLEASE be there and be VOCAL!!!!

Get there early or you will find yourself standing. Melrose will pack OUR side of the stands if you don't.

This game is the WEST TN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP - Treat it that way!

GO BIG RED!! Show the state what we all know - THE BEST IN THE WEST!

  4. Congratualtions BIG RED!!!! Hope all enjoyed last night's hard fought game. Fans must be VOCAL from the get go!!!

Why are Jackson Sun and Commercial Appeal game score for last night 48-34? Was it not 55-34? Did the last score not count? Not a big deal. A win is a win. Just wondering?

  5. red patriot was the one who brought up my allegiance.

Frankly I think HC should win and I`m pulling for them. A loss means a third straight 2nd place region finish for HC. As good as they have played this year it still comes down to this one game and whether or not HC can finish it.

Over the past 3 years HC has been the best team (overall) in the region, but have yet to bring home any region hardware. (I do think JCM was the best team 2 years ago for that year though /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> )

I haven`t seen Hardin County play, but I was very impressed with HC team this year. I never would have thought Hardin would have beat JCM like they did but it was worse than Henry County beat them. I don`t know if this CollegeScoutforTN is a Patriot fan or not, but from my looking on the outside viewpoint Hardin County is gonna give Henry County a game. I`d have to question anyone who has already awarded the championship to Henry County.

My apologies! I just don't want people getting the impression we are taking anything for granted. As I stated, Henry County knows that Hardin County is the real deal.

What type of offense does Hardin run? More pass or run? What size line? How is the kicking game? The quarterback 2 years ago had a pretty good arm. Passing or running quarterback? What kind of team speed? How does the speed compARE TO Henry County's?

To the Henry County fans- PLEASE travel with the Patriots to Savannah!!! We travel well and need to this week. I hope the fans remember the announcer from Savannah!

Is there a bus going? If it left early enough to stop and eat I believe more people would take advantage of the service. Just passing along comments from others that said they did not ride in the past because they wanted to stop and eat.

  6. I could not understand why the Henry County fans (I assume a bunch of adults) brought their obnoxious air horns, truck horns, train horns (or what ever you call them) to the games, until I saw a home gave recently. There were alot of empty seats in the stadium, so I guess the horns made up for the low turnout!

Get rid of the horns, pack your stadium, yell for your team!

The TSSAA needs to outlaw the man-made horns. There is no place for the horns in high school sports!

Believe me the horns and bells are there regardless of the amount of people at the game. You must have shown up when most of our fans had left due to the score at halftime! During the playoffs when the stands were full there were still the bells and all. Officials made the mistake of not allowing the horns to be blown during one game- the crowd was so loud the players said they were less distracted with the horns! As far as the low turnout - We consistently have more fans at away games then the home team! As long as the horns are not blown when the opposing team is trying to get off their play, it should not matter.

I, for one, love to see the fan support. It is nice to see fan support especially nowadays when so many kids are lacking parental support. Just look at another thread diuscussing the lack of support in Nashville.

  7. He is a player from last year who cant let go.

He is a former player who loves his alma mater. Nothing wrong with that. He is actually playing college ball and starting as a freshmen. Don't be so hard on him. We need our faithful. It is easy to get caught up in the talk on here. He was responding to another post.

    HCHS football player-

Be careful what you post- it could come back to bite us! Thanks for your support!

  8. That's a nice little poem, BUT it's not true.

So just me talk, and give the truth to you.

See you have northside, they may be good,

but they will not win, doing all they should,

Henry County is #1 in this region, that is the fact,

This boy you call MANN is about to get WACKED,

he has not faced a defense, like he is about to face,

He will have dreams of Theus being all over the place.

The Henry County D will shut him down,

and then comes the offense, you should start to frown.

We don't have to pass, just hand it off,

After Dominiques runs, you will sit and scoff.

He is unstoppable, like the victory to come.

After this game the entire city of Jackson will feel dumb.

See this boy they call Allen, is as big as a truck,

Northside will is scared, when he is coming they will duck.

Do you not understand this Henry county team,

they are big, fast, strong, and mean.

Dominique will laugh as he runs the ball,

watching little children in blue uniforms fall.

And when his done, its Marsalias's turn.

and when he decides to run, o boy he will burn.

Hey will shake to the left, then shake to the right.

Henry County Patriots will score all night.

So basically I'm sayin, Northside's chances are thin.

As soon as Henry County takes the field, they will win!

The offense is ready, the defense is keen,

final score is going to be 49-14.

Hahaha how bout that HC fans?!?!?!

Not bad! Lets not get too cocky. Wait until we have finished our mission. Then we will have the right to do all the bragging we wish. We still have work to do before then.

Do you know if Northside has any other players of interest? What type of offense, all Mann? What about their kicking game? How do we compare there? There d-line is big, so I hear, how does it compare to ours?

Northside fans - where are you?

  9. Mann is The Man, he's truly big league

Better,by far, than Allen or Teague.

    Thus sang most pundits this sad little song;

So gather, Red Nation, to see them proved wrong.

I seldom post but read the forum frequently. Where are the red faithful? I hope no one (fans) is taking this game for granted!!! I know the players won't! We (the fans) can NOT afford to sit idly by this week. Anything can happen on any given friday night. Please come out and bring the bells and horns as the team works their way to a region title. It is senior night and they deserve your support.

Mann is the real deal but one player does not make a team nor win a game by himself. The patriots have been playing as a TEAM since the ONE let down of the season. I am confident that they will continue their mission together and show Mann and company what they are made of.

What type of offense does Northside run? Is it all Mann or do they have any other players to look at? Do they pass at all? I hear their d-line is huge. How do they compare to the patriot line? Are they very deep or do many play both ways? I've noticed we are playing more players both ways so I don't know that depth really matters. What do you think?

  10. Well said, Redpride. Someone will lose this game but it won't be the end of the world for either team. Four weeks from now both teams should be alot better than they are now.Like most Patriot fans I love to play and beat DC-- They along with JCM have been our longest and most hated rivals but a loss this week would not be the disaster aloss to JCM would be.My prediction: HC28 DC 14

Good Luck Patriots!!!!! HC over DC! I am predicting game will be close, low scoring. HC 14-7

This may not be the place to post this but I know some people are wondering about Calvin. I came across this on the TSU website.

    On the freshman class - "When you sign freshmen, you really don't know what you have until they get into camp," said Webster. "We have been very pleased with the progress of these players and pleased with the quality our evaluations of them as players." Webster singled out several players as those making a difference in camp, they are;

Calvin McNairl (quarterback), Sherman Carter (offensive line), Ronnie Powell (wide receiver), Sidney Tarver (linebacker), Rennie St.Feur (linebacker), Jonathan Moore (wide receiver) and Rico Council (linebacker).

  11. Your probably right standing room only!!

Congrats to the Big Red! Lots of players stepped up last night! There were a few questions going into the game and I believe the team made a statement last night! Carry the momentum into practice and keep the barrel at home, where it belongs!

    To the patriot faithful:

Lets carry the momentum of the playoffs into the stands. Let the patriots know you are there. Thanks to the horn man for making the trip to Clarksville. I know the guys were proud to see ya!!!

  12. Hope every one had a great Thanksgiving. Tomorrow busy day for me so will not be posting much. Everywhere I go and everyone I speak with is talking about the game. The crowd is going to be big. Let's don't let the boros effect the crowd. If they score, crowd has to be really loud the next time they have ball. We need to be the 12th Man for the young men on the field.

As I have stated all year, 12th man makes a huge difference!!! Don't worry we have the crowd coming. Everywhere I went on Wednesday people were talking about the game. They are confident about their Patriots!

Last week I noticed people spreading out so that they could keep crowd roaring throughout the stands. It will be even louder this week! As you said, everyone is talking about the game! HC is hungry, fans and team! The crowd can't be quiet one second! I urge all faithful to remain standing throughout the game. Game is never over until the end of the fourth quarter!!!!!!!

Remember tail gate 2:00, live broadcast starting at 5:00

  13. Yea I would like to know where TSSAA numbers came from.

NO WAY combined do they have 1500. I have students there and know. This is a retirement and tourist community.

Yea I would like to know where TSSAA numbers came from.

Looks like you might be a little afraid your team may be facing us!

  14. The "weak" region you speak of had a 10-0 team, a 9-1 team, a 7-3 team, a 6-4 team and a 5-5 team for the top five spots. Your region had 7-3, 6-4, 6-4, 5-5 and 4-6 for their top five. Now before you start the "Our region is tougher; that's why our records aren't as good"; let's look at it. Only Munford and HC had more than 2 wins in region 7 or a region winning record. Therefore only two teams dominated the region standings. This doesn't hold the up the tough region claim. Hillsboro's region had 5 teams with a winning region record and 4 wins or more in the region. As for outside conference games; Hillsboro won 3 non-conference games against 5A schools; two went to the playoffs with winning records. HC played 2 5A's and lost both, 2 3A's and lost one and won one, One 4A and won it 17-6 against a 5-5 team. How do you call region 5 a weak region when region 7 can't hold a candle to it statisticially? Your agrument just won't hold water.

Coach t strength of schedule HC #3 Hillsboro #53

Coach t strength of schedule plus success HC #8 Hillsboro #3

I would say that holds your water! Seems pretty even to me. Should be an excellent game. HC with the home field crowd!

    GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. thats a "whoppin" ill be looking forward too pal :thumb: .. but at least you know Maplewood is coming back ... and dont worry .. i feel right at home.. and i wont have to wait any longer than you do.. :thumb: thats right .

You will have to wait longer......You're waiting now,,,,, we are still playing this Friday!

  16. TraderB:

I hope Henry County beats Hillsboro as well. It has been my contention all along that whatever team that came out of the 7/8 Region would have to play Hillsboro. The Burros are different then the ones that faced Melrose a few years back. This is a different coach. The old Hillsboro coach is now the the new coach at Riverdale, believe it or not. I don't know what this coaches philosphy is on offense and defense, but I do know that they have been dominant. I also have heard/read somewhere that their QB is one of the best in the state. I always know how physical they are. Their team speed rivals Melroses. I'm thinking that their QB is just a little bit better then the Melrose QB. I haven't seen him play, it just a feeling that I get. I'm like you in this regard, i'm pulling for Henry County, but I think Hillsboro wins in a good game. I think # 34 gets his yards and #1 as well for Henry County. I hope I am wrong about the outcome.

HC will play harder against Hillsboro than they did against Melrose. Believe it or not, they are fired up more for this game! They will have a larger and louder crowd than at Melrose, College Game Day atmosphere with radio broadcasting from 5:00, tail gate starting at 2:00, and coaches that will open up play book if they need to!

  17. HC will need to play a very physical defensive game, which we are capable of doing. Alot is being said of our secondary being pourous, which I can't argue with, but they are very talented as well. We play defense aggressively, both on the line and in the secondary, as I am not sure on the number of picks the Pats have this year but I know it is several. Point being, we have to bring our "A" game defensively for 2 halves, and if we do that we can play with anyone in the state.

The other thing we have to do is control the clock on offense. The best way to beat a talented offense??? Keep them off the field and play field position, don't put our defense in bad field position. The coaches I am confident will have the gameplan in place to win, we will have to execute it.

This is to go to the championship game, both teams are going to be excellent at this point, if not, they wouldn't be here. I think this is going to be a close game down to the wire, with HC getting it done at home. Go Pats, we need a big crowd.

On a side note, the tailgating is going to begin around 2, and rumor has it that WLZK will be doing a live pre-game remote from the tailgating beginning around 5, with continuing talk all the way up to game time. Sounds fun, so everyone get out and let's show the Patriots we are behind them all the way!

My understanding is on the practice field , close to the guys!!! Also, young kids can play out there while parents tailgate. Fans need to bring signs in support of team.

I for one will not support Dairy Delight if they REFUSED to support the Patriots by putting something on their sign. It doesn't cost a dime to do that , but it will cost them business!!!!!! It's not like they are competing to support 2 High Schools!!!!!

To those that have supported them, you will not be forgotten, PARIS REALTY.

No one has answered the question of what type of defense Hillsboro runs. Anyone in the know? What is overall team size? Shotgun or I formation? What is their kicking game like?

  18. Well, well, well! Here we are once again! Semi's baby!!! Its been 14 long years since we have made it this far[/color]

Enjoy it..... because its as far as you will get this season.

Advantage HC. Tell them they are going to get beat!! That just drives them more! They have been the underdog throughout the playoffs.

No one goes to the Mound and beats Melrose. Memphis teams are too fast for Patriots! HC no pass defense, East will win, HC no pass defense, Fairley will win! Hillsboro faster, can run, pass, best defense. Hillsboro will win.

Keep telling Patriots they can't win!

  19. I would love to see HC defeat Hillsoro, considering HC is representing this side of the State. My gut tells me that HC will lose, however.

After seeing HC play for the 1st time this season vs Fairley (and getting the rundown on its victory over Melrose), I'm afraid that HCs below average PASS defense is gonna get exposed beyond recovery, by Hillsboro.

HCs porous pass defense is a HUGE problem, going forward!

Melrose gashed HCs secondary but, surprisingly, could not contain HCs running game. Fairley fared somewhat better vs the run than did Melrose, but couldn't muster up enough offense, especially via the pass (HCs

weakest defensive link) to pull out a victory.

Fairley's weak-armed, grossly inaccurate QB managed to throw 2 TDs (and those were balls thrown up for grabs, which its high-jump champ receiver caught) but repeatedly missed wide open receivers, all night long. He threw one INT, which was returned for a TD.... Fairley's running game had its moments. Fairley twice shot itself in the foot, with repeated penalties, after driving deep into the Red Zone. This lack of discipline squandered prescious scoring opportunities. Despite all this, Fairley managed to stay in the ballgame.

The point here is not to take anything away from HCs victory over Fairley. HC outplayed Fairley and EARNED its victory. HC deserved to win, IMO....My point is this: If Fairley had better offensive discipline and a decent QB, then this thread could very well be about Fariley vs Hillsboro.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If HC is to stand a chance of beating Hillsboro, HCs secondary is literally going to have to improve overnight. Otherwise, HC will likely be in for a long night vs the balanced, disciplined Hillsboro team.

Hillsboro is undefeated, has been scoring a ton of points and doing a respectable job on defense. They're probably still as disciplined a team as in prior years (I've seen them 3 times before). Somehow, I don't think that Hillsboro's new-found balanced offense is gonna have trouble scoring on HCs defense. The only question I have about Hillsboro is---can they stop the run?

Nevertheless, I suspect that HC will get it's share of points (provided McNarl's ankle is 100 %). I'm just afraid that HC will not be able to keep pace with Hillsboro.....I hope I'm wrong. I really do.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hillsboro 27 -- Henry County 17

Since you were at the game, out of curiosity, did you notice the line for Fairley tackling(hoding) all night long? It wasn't called.

  20. ffffrrrrrrtr

    ???????

Sorry I have to respectfully dissagree; they are 13-0 for a reason. No doubt HC is alot better than their record indicates but I believe that Hillsboro is clearly better than them. I say Burros by 2 TDs if not more; not knocking HC at all, the Burros just have more fire power than HC and they are much more versitile than they have been in the last serveral years (this should really help against Maryville).

Hope your team thinks like you do, looking ahead!
