  1. Baylor 2 Father Ryan 0 both goals coming in the 2nd half PJII 2 Briarcrest 0
  2. In 2006 ND defeated FRA in OT in the state quarter finals. In 2007 FRA defeated ND in a shoot out in the semi finals (and went on to win the state title). FRA and Notre Dame will meet again tonight for the right to play in the state finals. FRA will be changing divisions next year so this will be the last time these two cross state rivals will meet in state play. Many of these girls have played against each other for 4 years both in school and club ball so they know each other well. This should be a classic matchup and a great game for all who like excitement and thrilling finishes. Thoughts and/or predictions. Flash are you out there?
  3. DonC's next thread is "Who are the the left footed goalies who are born on even months?"
  4. This was a very exciting game played by 2 very good teams. Both teams were well coached and the fans well behaved. I watched the game up until overtime (as I had to leave) and both teams had some opporutunitues to score early in the game but both defenses were well organized all night long. It was very even up until the last 10 minutes or so in regulation when Riverdale seemed to get the bettter of it. As I said earlier I was rooting for the Trojans to get to the state tourney and hopefully make a run at the state title but as we all know only 1 team can advance. To echoe MVM's remarks everyone from Riverdale was very classy and that is refreshing to see at sporting events these days. Congrats to Soddy Daisy for a great year and best of luck to Riverdale the rest of the way! A special shout out to Claire and Kelsey, you girls played great all year long!
  5. To look at the pairings I have to think that these pairings were "seeded". I don't know why TSSAA does not want to use that term. It seems again that this should be the purpose of the committee is to allow the opportunity for those who have proved themselves over the course of a year to not have to play each other in the first round. My guess is that by using the term "blind draw" you need not have to worry about those who claim that the seedings were unfair. If this year's pairings are any indication (of a blind draw) then let's continue to use the term and hope that we see common sense brackets in years to come. After all nobody can complain when it is "blind".
  6. These pairings look to be be "fair" and that some thought has gone into the process. That is all you can ask for. Kudos to TSSAA
  7. In looking at the Eurosportscoreboard rankings ND,FRA,CAK and CPA show to be the 4 top rated teams (still alive). Assuming the commitee agrees with these rankings then these 4 teams should be playing someone other than the 4 teams listed. Again making assumptions (and we all know what happens when you do that) again that you use the Eurosport rankings the # 1 ranked team should play the lowest ranked team left, # 2 ranked team should play the the second ranked team left etc, etc. If this was done the pairings could/should look like this: # 1 Notre Dame vs (unranked) Seymour #5 USJ vs # 6 CPA winners of the these 2 play in semi finals #2 FRA vs #10 Jackson Christian #3 CAK vs #9 Station Camp winner of these 2 play in semi finals note: CPA's win vs FRA and Station Camp's win vs CCS may change some rankings. This would make the most sense and seem to be fairest but we know that is not always how things work. I hope the TSSAA will use common sense when pairing for the state tourney. By "seeding" the top ranked teams this allows for the best teams to have an opportunity of meeting each other in the state finals, which should be the ultimate goal of the committee.
  8. Soddy Daisy (Hamilton County) is in eastern time zone
  9. Rumor has it it will be a night game. I am guessing 6 or 7pm.
  10. Soddy Daisy will try to avenge their only loss of the year when Riverdale travels to Soddy Daisy Saturday. From what I understand the 1-0 game was hotly contested and as you might imagine a very good game. This game will be no different as far as excitement in concerned. I will be pulling for the Trojans to win this one and will predict a 1-0 game.
  11. If my memory serves me correctly Wilson Cates is the player from LA who single handedly beat the Fighting Irish's undefeated team 3 years ago. He played safety, quarterback and even sold popcorn to the fans in between plays. As far as predictions for Saturday, LA has Kat Nigro who is a very good player, but in the end the Irish are too strong across the board and I'll predict Notre Dame 5-0.
  12. Great minds think alike. LOL!
  13. I must admit I am surprised by the outcome of this game. Does anyone have any details?
  14. Soddy Daisy 4 Cleveland 2 OT
  15. The first goal was scored by Daniele Ciabattone who headed it in on a beautiful corner kick from Darcy Brannen with 8 minutes left in the half. Notre Dame goes in to half leading 1-0. The second starts out well for ther Fighting Irish as Daniele Ciabattone launches a beautiful shot 1 minute into the half from about the 25 that sails over Leah's head to go up 2-0. There is much back and forth with ND controlling most of the pace of play but IMO CCS did a much better job of possesing the ball than they did in the first 2 games. CCS gets on the board at the 10 minute mark after they are awarded a free kick at about the 22 that hits off the cross bar and a CCS player does a nice job of following the shot (I believe a header ) and puts it in the net. Notre Dame scores their final goal at just under 2 minutes on a very nice cross from Kris Cambron to Darcy Brannen who hits a nice ball that deflects off of a CCS defender that finds the back of the net. The final 3-1 and as usual this was a hard fought game from both teams.
  16. This will be the third time these two teams will face each other this year. The first two games ended with the same 2-0 score with ND winning. The Irish will face a motivated CCS team as this scenario seems to play out each year with these two teams meeting in the regional finals. I'll predict a low scoring hard fought game not unlike the two previous games. Leah Wilson always tough in the goal will ensure a competitive score.
  17. I am not real good at predicting the winners but what the heck. Baylor vs Brentwood Academy- Baylor St Agnes vs JP II- St Agnes Briarcrest vs GPS- GPS Father Ryan vs ECS- Father Ryan
  18. Notre Dame 4 Boyd Buchanon 0 CCS 4 CSAS 0 Cleveland 1 Ooltewah 0 in 2OT Soddy Daisy 6 McMinn County 0
  19. The Chattanooga media has been very good to area high school soccer. When local teams are making a run at a state title we even get some good TV coverage.
  20. copied from Post season thread Kris Cambron scored both goals for the Irish in the second half. The first one came 3 minutes into the 2nd half on a beautiful through ball from Darcy Brannen. The second goal came with 19 minutes left in the half when Michelle Spangler launched a arching ball from the back line up to Kris who settles the ball ( at the 16) and puts a very nice shot past Leah Wilson. CCS played hard but the Irish controlled the ball virtually all night long. Leah Wilson made some nice saves and grabbed quite a few balls that were shot at her. The shot count was anywhere from 15-20 for the Irish to 1 or 2 for CCS. The Irish played well especially in the 2nd half as they did a nice job of passing ball to feet. The Irish mid field did a very nice job of making the Chargers chase balls all night long. Kris Cambron played extremely well as she created multiple scoring opportunities. The Irish defense was very solid and efficient and limited CCS scoring opportunities to a minimum. It was a hard fought game by both teams
