  1. Post scores of teams for the post season.
  2. Kemesha's goal was a ball that came off a CCS defender and on the 18 she dropped it to her feet and she hit a laser shot that Leah did not have a chance on. Cydney's goal was a beauty. She must have brought the ball some 40 yards down the side line (and did her patented move) and got behind the defender to rocket a ball in the upper 90 (on a very tough angle). Caroline Scales had a couple of scoring opportunties. Leah made a great save on 1 and the other 2 went a little high. Baylor controlled the pace of play all night but CCS fought hard for every ball. Congrats to Baylor on their undefeated season!
  3. Sounds like a great game. I wish I could have been there. Best of luck to both teams as the enter district/regional play
  4. Soddy Daisy (13-1) will travel to Farragut (13-3-1) Oct 14. Soddy Daisy has a swarming defense and a very good offense. Farragut has a potent offense and a very good defense. Farragut has given up 1 goal in the last 10 games and Soddy Daisy has given 0 goals in the last 10 games. This should be a classic matchup. I'll predict, Soddy Daisy 1 Farragut 1
  5. Chattanooga Area Rankings week 7 1. Baylor 13-0-1, Beat GPS and St Cecelia. Teams are packing back defenses in the hope of scoring on counter-attacks. Still the best team in the state. Will play CCS this week. 2. Soddy Daisy 13-1, beat Franklin Co and Red Bank. The Trojans are looking to continue their great season in tourney play. Plays at Farragut Oct 14 (which should be a dandy). 3. Notre Dame 11-4-1, Beat CCS and Grace. Won the Distict 6 title and await next game at home. The Irish are playing solid defense and opportunistic offense. 4. CCS 12-2-2, lost to Notre Dame, beat Ravenwood in a big win for the Chargers. Will host Baylor Oct 14. 5. GPS 4-6-2, lost hard fought game to Baylor 1-0. The defense has been stellar, still trying to create some offense. Have played a very tough schedule. Play at CAK Oct 14. 6. Cleveland 10-5-1, have won 5 in a row and looking to maintain momentum going into tourney play. Will play at Boyd Buchanon Oct 14. 7. Silverdale 11-1-1, beat Sequatchie Co. Great year for Silverdale thus far but the challenge will come as they face tougher teams in district and regional play. 8. Hixson 14-4-1, tied Ooltewah, beat Bradley Central. Waiting to see who they play next in district tourney play. 9. Ooltewah 8-7-1, beat Walker Valley, tied Hixson. Plays at Farragut Oct 16. 10. McMinn County 6-7-2, lost to CCS and Maryville. Beat McMinn Central for local bragging rights 4-1. Cherokees have played a tough schedule and will travel to Baylor Oct 16.
  6. Bruisermom, I hope you become a regular poster. I am not sure I have seen/noticed a GPS poster (this year). Welcome to the boards!
  7. Notre Dame traveled to CCS for the district matchup between the top two teams from district 6. Notre Dame came out and controlled the pace of play for the vast majority of the first half. ND was keeping the ball down on CCS's end but was unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Leah Wilson was up to the task on all shots that came her way. With a minute to go in the half ND got a ball in close in the box and Hope Mongiello headed a nice ball over to Christinia Pagnani who did a nice job of sending the ball into the net. They go into half with ND up 1-0. In the second half CCS made a couple of mini runs on the Irish defense only to lose possesion as they got in closer to the goal. CCS was certainly playing a defensive minded game as they had by my count up to 8 players back on defense at times. This made it difficult for the Irish forwards to weave their way through CCS's defense. With 21 minutes left in the game Carey Leiper sent a beautiful cross over to Kris Cambron who settled the ball and drilled a shot (from the 20) so hard that when it went into the net it caught the support post and bounced back out in the field (some folks were not sure if it went in our not). Anyway beautiful shot and ND goes up 2-0. ND had many more runs and shots on goal but Leah did a nice job of keeping the Irish at bay. ND's defense and mid field did a very nice job of limiting CCS's runs at goal. They were pretty much looking to counter atttack when they could and were limited to just a few serious runs. This game was not as close as the score might indicate but there was never any quit in the CCS team. They contested every ball and played with great enthusiasm but ND controlled the pace of play for the entire evening. It would not surprise me if we see CCS again come tourney time.
  8. Her name is Simone Busby and she is a Freshman. I have been told that basketball is her primary sport so my guess is she does not play club ball. Certainly she a tremendous future as a keeper if she chooses to pursue soccer as her main sport.
  9. Baylor's mid field is too strong for GPS and that will keep constant pressure on the GPS keeper and back line. Baylor is playing tough defense and opportunistic offense. GPS will play hard but I think in the end this is not close at all. Baylor wins 3-0.
  10. Notre Dame travels to CCS Oct 7 for a key district game. Thoughts/predictions on how this game will turn out.
  11. Chattanooga Area Rankings Week 6 1. Baylor 10-0-1, Ranked # 11 Nationally by ESPN.com. Plays GPS Oct 7 2. Soddy Daisy 11-1, beat Warren Co and CCS. Have scored 46 goals and given up ony 3 so far this season. This is a team that can make some noise in the state tourney. 3. Notre Dame 9-4-1, beat GPS and tied Bearden. ND is playing their best soccer of the year right now and that will need to continue as they play rival CCS in district play Oct 7. Plays Grace Oct 9 (senior night). 4. CCS 10-1-2, beat Hixson lost to Soddy. Plays Notre Dame and McMinn Co. 5. GPS 4-5-2, lost to Notre Dame and Oak Ridge by the same 1-0 score. Tough defense, but having a tough time scoring goals. 6. Cleveland 9-5-1, beat Walker Co and Ooltewah. Played Cookeville Oct 4, (score?) 7. Silverdale 10-1-1, beat Grace, plays Sequatchie Co and Telico Plains. 8. Hixson 9-4, beat McMinnCentral and Signal Mtn. Plays Bradley Central and Ooltewah 9. Ooltewah 7-6-1, beat Chatt Central lost to Cleveland. Plays Walker Valley and Hixson. 10. McMinn Central 8-5-3, lost to Hixson. Plays Sequoyah and McMinn County
  12. Not to keep rehashing the same point but I posted in the "JV thread" that to stand behind the goal as the sun was setting in the keeper's face the lines became invisible from where she stood. (I did not repeat that line in my new post because in the end it would not change the call). When I was standing on the side with the sun at my back I could view the lines marking the box but they were faint. In the end it was very unfortunate for Olivia who played a heck of a good game as she was just trying to make a play on the ball as she slid out of the box.
  13. It was a JV match, (she is the backup goalie on varsity) there are only 2 varsity games left (regular season) on the schedule.
  14. In the Bearden vs Notre Dame JV game, the ND keeper was given a red card for touching the ball outside of the box. The ND keeper was coming out hard to beat the forward to the ball and she slid out of the box in the process. Anyway the referee determined that it was a intentional hand ball because she was the last person in the line of the defense. She had to leave the game with ND playing with 10 players and Bearden was awarded a free kick (they did not score). I am not questioning the call but does anyone know what the rules say regarding this young lady? Does she have to sit out 1 game 2 games? Does this carry over to varsity games or does it just count on JV games? There are no more JV games left on the schedule and this girl is a senior (and senior night is two games away). Any help would be appreciated.
  15. In the Bearden vs ND JV game, the ND keeper was given a red card for touching the ball outside of the box. The ND keeper was coming out hard to beat the forward to the ball and she slid out of the box in the process. Now I went and stood behind the goal and with the sun setting you could not see any lines at all. Now with the sun at your back you could see the lines. Anyway the referee determined that it was a intentional hand ball because she was the last person in the line of the defense. She had to leave the game with ND playing with 10 players and Bearden was awarded a free kick (they did not score). I am not questioning the call but does anyone know what the rules say regarding this young lady? Does she have to sit out 1 game?, 2 games? Does this carry over to varsity games or does it just count on JV games? By the way Olivia played a heck of a game! Bearden has a heck of a team. If I understand correctly this is the first tie (no losses) that Bearden JV team has had over the last 2 years.
  16. Leah is a very good goalie and a nice young lady!
  17. Logan did break her wrist and she is in good spirits. I hear that Leah Wilson texted her and said "you don't need hands for soccer anyway" We hope she rests a little next week vs ND (LOL) and is ready to play vs McMinn County on Thursday Oct 9. Get well!
  18. Final Notre Dame 2 Bearden 2 As the score indicates a very competitive game
