South’s last year. Those boys are playing for something. A legacy. They are highly motivated. And Greeneville is still Greeneville. Young, but finding their way. Should be a good game. I hope it will be available to watch.

You know I’m a Betsy Homer...right? I’m just trying to get people talking. Although this Tim fellow will probably not have much to say unless we loose a game. It’s just so difficult to gage how good the other teams out there are. Thank goodness, in the end, all we can control is....us! Play the teams in front of us, one at a time, and take care of our business. The rest will settle itself out, as brackets tend to do. Now, homecoming, game? Or no game? I’m leaning towards no game. Any thoughts?

So, is Betsy better than we thought or WB worse than we thought? Is Tullahoma for real? Can Betsy prove they belong by taking the Region 1 Crown and eventually earn a trip to AC, a place they’ve never won at before, and exorcise that demon? Will AC finally break through? Will Region 3 & 4 have real contenders? How about the West? Are there any West bracket teams capable of wrangling the title back from the East? stay tuned.......

I hate trying to Devine these outcomes based on last year or this years performances. To me, it comes down to coaching, both lines of scrimmage, overall defense and being ready to play. I won’t cry about missing three of the starters on the o-line at Boone. You play with what you got. And we’ve seen what taking a team for granted can do (South last season). Betsy proved it was a fluke by dominating them in the 2nd round, but WB, South and now Boone this season have given the Clones the wake up calls they needed. If we went by paper, give us the ring. We play the games because THAT’S where magic happens. On the field. No matter if it goes as scripted or Cinderella makes an appearance, we must withstand the torture of not knowing how good Betsy, Greeneville, South, AC, Nolensville or Tullahoma are now or weeks from now. All we can do is play the game before us, control our own destiny, and see how this mess plays out. And thank our luck stars if we all make it to the end, safe and healthy. (Rant over)

This game will have Betsy fans full attention. Physical football teams squaring off. Comes down to the line of scrimmage and defense.

Flashy Offensive play is fun to watch. Who does not like a 95 yard TD pass or 65 yard TD run? I'll tell you who. The Defensive Coordinator! In my opinion, DEFENSE is what wins championships. It's SUPER EARLY, but lets hear who everyone thinks has the best chance at a Gold Ball based on their Defense. Super weird coming from a former O-Lineman I know. I see Alcoa and Maryville and I see two defenses that are always tops in their Class. Who will be the Alcoa and Maryville in 4A this year? AND.......GO!!!
