  1. Great men think alike...that is way it should be everywhere K-6,7-9 and 10-12

Freshman Academy...why why why, if they were in with 7 and 8 graders and big dogs of middle school, you would have no need for Freshman Academy.

Put Hogan and Compusatman in change...we would get things done the "old school way"

    And by the Gods!

  2. This should be a national mandate. K-6th in Elementary school. 7-9th in Middle school. 10-12th in high school. Sixth graders have no business being with the Middle school group and being subjected to the things they are subjected to. Ninth graders regardless of talent do not need to be on a varsity football team. At least 95% circumstances boys don't grow until their Soph year. Some people will say that this method leaves the 6th graders in limbo. I say they need to not be forced to grow up so quickly. When they are thrust into Middle school at that level it is an accident waiting to happen.

  3. Everyone knows we need to go back to 5 classifications. If not then at least remove 5A schools from 6A conferences. There is no need to back up your arguments for going back to the way it was. It is the only justifieable decision. Last years playoffs were ludicrous. This years playoffs were unacceptable. And the regular season dictated said lunacy. The people who are advocating the current system are helplessly ignorant. We knew when TSSAA implimented this system it was bunk...and now we have proof. Playing a team from your own conference in the first round....incredible. Winning your conference and being seeded lower than someone you beat for the conference crown...incredible. Someone needs to start a thread with a poll. Then we will see exactly the numbers of disgruntled football minds over the sheep.

  4. But Comp, you do relive the "Greeneville circumstances"....every year. I bet you drag out the game tape in July just to psyche yourself up. How will you go on without Greeneville on the South schedule? All that Greeneville corruption conspiracy crap and how it contributed to hinky officiating in a play-off game in 2008. I bet you could be of great help to the DB fans in rationalizing the "TD that wasn't" from this game. Maybe...."Maryville paid the officials to swing this one so they wouldn't have to drive all the way to Kingsport".

Actually Barb, there have been countless people who testify that he was in bounds. And even a couple of Bearden people. The heartbreaker is that DB has endured this situation a few times. I feel for them. You, on the other hand, believing that all is just and good in paradise are in denial. Games are rigged, refs are swayed and if you don't believe it then you are not the mind I believed you were. The Indian faithful have not once complained about bad officiation in this game. Except for that one ominous call. That's OK, you stay in Greeneville and enjoy your day in the sun. I am proud for you. But what goes around comes around.

  5. I didn't really say to give up. Im sure the next DB team will give it another shot. I just don't see how a few of our fans were talking it up considering our history. Its a hard one to figure out. We have had a team capable of winning it all three times in the past ten years and we haven't even made it to "the" game yet. Last night when both teams were scoring back and forth I was wondering what was going to happen to lose us the game. I knew we wouldn't get the field goal at the end but the thought never entered my mind that we wouldn't even get it off. How strange is that. We were toast after that because we were not going to stop Devrin Young from 10 yrds. out. Their really rubbing it in our face on the other threads, and rightly so. I just hope that next year we as fans put things in perspective and never mention that we might have a good enough team to win a playoff game.

Jack, I do realize that you and Batman were the only two who were warning of overconfidence from week 0 on. Even though I am not an Indian, I am learning to be a bit more reserved. I guess if I had to relive like circumstances as in Greeneville 2008 then I too would hang my head in disbelief. I shouldn't have worded it that you have given up because I know that will never happen.

  6. I know I shouldn't comment but the common concensus is that he was not out of bounds at the two and it was in fact a score. In 2008 many in NET and including some Indian fans that are on this board commented that if we were as good as advertised then Greenville should never have had a chance. Well, Bearden was anihalated by Knox West. My point? Bearden brought their A game and hung around long enough to win. Out of bounds at the 2...bad snap for a FG with seconds left...overtime....sounds alot like a movie I have seen before. I would not dare discount you with a statement like the one that was made against the Rebels in 2008. All I will say is I felt it was DB's year and I got that feeling in preseason. Fate is a hard thing to swallow. But I don't agree with Jack. I think you can never give up...ever. Some of the best athletes I have ever had the priviledge to see play. I feel the Tribe's pain because I've been there. It never really goes away...especially when you know you had what it took. I only wish the best for the Seniors and that next year you come back stronger. I am proud to have been on your schedule.

  7. Well it was only the Jamboree. Personally, I thought the carry over scoring was rediculous. But what do I know. South has had talent for many years. And again, they have talent. Can they be taught the correct things? Can they step up to the plate? To be seen. Free throws and layups will win games. If you can't hit those shots then you will lose regardless of how much talent you have. Should be an interesting year.

  8. Well, Well, after all this you still did not give me a specific reason, relative to South football, why practices should be closed. Furthermore, I've gone through every one of the football coaches' names and I can't come up with one that I would not want mentoring my son. Why all worry? I'm not--I thought you were. Oh, well, I'm done with this. See you at practice in the spring--haha. But, you go ahead to the school board, the AD, the Supt., the Governer and to Obama, if you like. I don't like the new Health Care System, or the gun control, nor keeping me from practice. Yelp, I go just about anywhere I want, at least while I can, until football Nazis like you have your way. --Hey, man, calm down--just trying to have fun, don't take it serious.

    Maybe he's a coach core.

  9. Let me educate you and TBB on how the world works. If I had someone in my family that was handicapped, and I was concerned about seating, I would not come on a message board and find my information out. The correct way to do it is call the School and say you have a handicapped person in your family and you would like to get information on seating, parking, etc... Maybe both of you are just out of school and just don't know any better. Quit supporting the sterotype that we are a bunch of hillbilly hicks up here and keep your questions football related.

Let it go Toss. You and FB are good people. It takes a village to raise a child. It takes 10 years of championships to become a dynasty. Then you are referred to as a Powerhouse. By then the community has matured. South had not gotten there yet. A couple of years of winning seasons does not make a powerhouse. You know this. Knox West is a well to do community. The median income is above the South community. They won't start the fight. Good luck to your Booners. They are going to need it.

  10. I guess its a nesessary evil when you have a band as good as ours that they will be going off to their own competitions on some Friday nights. I would say competing for a National Championship is a pretty big deal and I hope they do well. I think its cool that the alumni band will be filling in but this sounds like a last minute round up. Seems like we could of just invited the Robinson-Sevier bands to play together Friday night. That would of put us about 400 strong I think as both Middle Schools have very large bands. Seems like they would of been thrilled to do it and probably provided alot of noise down there in that end zone.

Incredibly great idea. Equally as incredible that no administrator thought of it.

  11. Behind the Lens

Top link guys...enjoy and I will see you tonight...Good Luck and lets roll

Stork, Compusatman here. I'm from Kingsport and am a Sullivan South fan. I have followed your expertice for a bit and I would like some advise. You may not be inclined to discuss your craft but if you would I will stand in appreciation. I use a pc and I'm sure you use a Mac but maybe not. My first interest is what video editing software do you use? Or at least which ones are your favorites. TIA.

  12. First of all let me start by saying, the best team won. And a large congratualations to Daniel Boone. And sincere good luck from here on out.

Next, South did not come to play. Please Booners, don't think I am trying to make lite of your accomplishment. But, South did not show up. By Wednesday of this week I knew we were in trouble. After talking to a few starters I did not feel the same intensity I felt the week of Dobyns-Bennett...as well as others. And in my posts on Friday I stated I felt "quesie". That was my death knell. At about 3:30 a starters mother asked me what I thought and I told her I had a bad feeling about the game and did not see success. She almost cried. So did I.

FB, I honor you in leading your cohorts here on the T. I recall when I first came on the T when mine was a Soph. and I thought he was NFL material and that I was Football God. I was rude and loud and a jerk and on and on. As you grow in a successful program and watch your own POY and such you tend to be a bit more respectful. I am not offended by the Booners rants. It is their time and I hope they enjoy it. Even if it is at my expense. The more success they have the more respectful they will get. And pay that respect to other competing successful programs. This process takes a few years.

Jhilts...I agree with most of what you said except for the closed parctices. But sideline priveledges and coaching office priviledges...well let's just say I have more respect for myself and the coaches than to expect to impose on that turf.

As far as the sideline fight is concerned. Who gives a flip. When I was a kid in elementary school if a fight erupted the teacher would summons another teacher and take the boys in question to the play ground and surround them by the class and then instruct them to finish the fight. And then when you got home you got whacked for starting the fight and for not finishing it if that were the case. But, it will be difficult to see on film but there was a Boone letterjacketed individual whose identity is unknown who took a swing at one of the South players. This was after the fight had errupted and in my opinion has nothing to do with anything except for what Jhilts was saying. No one needs to be on the sideline that is not a player, coach, medical personel, or otherwise team administration. I don't know if this was a diabled player or what but I do not doubt the same thing would not have happened on the South side. Let's face it, this is not a dance recittal. And it is not a boys game.

The referees. You know when the team first takes the field before the first kickoff how you can sometimes get a feel of the intensity of the players at that moment. Well, I got a feel for the refs at the beginning of the game as well. Some refs can be crisp, sharp, deliberate...and some can be soft, lazy, lathargic...well I think one group is into the job,,,the game. And the other...well maybe they would rather be somewhere else. Some of the refs last evening I feel would have rather been somewhere else. Is that why the fight broke out? Well, it wasn't week 0 you know. And IMOP it was a perfect example of why TSSAA is out they mind with this classification and playoff seeding BS. And it is BS! Conference teams have no business playing each other in the first round. Make no mistake, Boone was unbeatable last night. Just saying. But you are a Ref in a playoff game between two ultra redneck schools like Boone and South...well you might want to pay attention. There are tell-tale signs of impending disaster. It is seen in lots of places but no more visible than in the pile at every tackle. I dare say what kind of debouchery was going on down in there. So was it the Refs fault? Who cares. We both wanted to fight...so let em' fight. Right out in the middle of the field. Kind of like the Jamboree. Instead of the fastest back we could have had the best Jawbreaker. Hey, I don't like NASCAR so the I don't get off on the crashes at 190 mph. But a good fight every now and then? Sounds good. I mean it ain't like they got guns and chit.

So the bottom line? South candied out in the first round. First time since 2004. And Boone? They whipped our butt. And now we got to carry them. OK so I will do my duty Booners. I will tow the line for you and be proud to do it. But don't spit no baccer juice on me 'cause as much as I love you and support you....we will fight in a New York minute.

Good luck Kevin Connell and company! :thumb:

  13. Time to pound the rock ,Comp. this may be more of a game for the fan of the running game. Expect a big dose of Hubbard and Cassell then Cassell and Hubbard, as the Blazers mistakenly key on Heath.

I reckon I like runnin' the ball purty good...mmmhhhh hhhmmmm. I reckon I know a thang err two about carryin' the mail. I reckon it's up to the linemen tonight. I hope that Hyder boy gits a devil in 'is eye.

  14. HaHa....I guess I should have carried the thought process one step further. I surmised lights, field prep, ticket attendants etc. cost more than the 15 mile roundtrip on a yellow school bus. Your Blue Devil math education is good, but generaql economics 101 teaches "there's no such thing as a free lunch".The Friday Night Lights show costs money to produce. Enjoy.
