1. 4way; those folks you were talking to were deluded. I know Hickman has continued to improve this season and Coach Swenson is a great coach. However, having seen Camden twice and Hickman once in person and both teams on nurmerous films. The only place that Hickman can compare to Camden is speed in the backfield. Camden actually has a functional passing attack. So that shouldn't be an argument on how HC will stack up with GP. If you want to go that route you could say that since Fairview held Camden to 14 points and GP gave up 24 that Fairview has better defense. we all know that not to be the case.

I know Swenson and his staff will have the boys from ALL of Hickman ready. They better play like there is no tomorrow, because in all honesty there won't be. Earn respect from the rest of the state, myself included, who expect you to get blown out.

    GP - 42

    HC - 14

(GP is 4 TDs better than HC, could have put 28-0 but I know Sowell and Villareal are good for 2)

For the record, GP didn't squeak by Camden. Coach Martin actually executed a really classy move(I'll wait as you gasp in shock) he kneelt the time out from inside the 5 rather than punch in the final TD. Though they were behind at half and the majority of the game, they were not rattled. The feel from GP was not "are we going to win" it was a foregone conclusion to them. and their stud Cunningham got like 8-9 carries, they were spreading the ball around. Had he got the carries he should have they would have decimated Camden. They are freakin GOOD! and if I wasn't going out of town I would be there in Madison watching that freak Cunningham run all over the Hickman Defense.

I mean no offense, as I know this will be taken, but this is my assessment. and I approved this message.

  2. That would be correct. Unless Fairview loses to Harpeth, which could happen then that is how it will probably work out.

You going to make it down to KS this weekend for the game? It decides the Region 3 seed for sure, will be interesting. The winner is the team with the fewest turnovers IMO. Seems like Fairview has cured that bug while Harpeth seems to have been biten themselves.

  3. Fairview will beat Harpeth IMO 35 - 21 just a guess.

I know you are being cordial in the score prediction category and you probably feel forced to give one team 21 and the other a two touchdown spread but I don't think it will be that close. Fairview's D has given up a whopping 45 total yards and (3) 1st dns in the last two games combined. They have found a little swagger after being drug through a wringer. I say the TD spread is closer to 4 for Fairview. Hope To see a well fought rivalry with as little mouthing as possible, though I won't bet against that. These two teams seems not to like each other, that always makes for great football.

  4. to be honest I was shocked to hear the Richland-Harpeth score. Thought Harpeth was going to have a little more going for them at home during a playoff push. With an extra week of rest and preparation a think Fairview will push Harpeth right out of the way and roll into the playoffs with a stellar 4-6 record. Fairview's D is Tough! and I don't see Harpeth putting up enough points to win the next one.

  5. I couldn't help but check out this thread. both schools in question are much anticipated matchups for my boys at Fairview. To answer queations, we lost some key components from last years playoff squad (Degalliford, Cassidy, Baldoni, Gulizia, Gasieki-kicker) But they have been replaced by very adequate young men. and yes Cassidy's little(bigger) brother has the makings of a huge high school career (he'll be a SO, started every game as a FR at MLB) With a new HC and a balanced offensive style that better suits our athletes, Fairview will definitely turn some heads, and will give opposing Ds a lot to plan for.

I watched the EH/mTp game last year, It was obvious that EH was able key in on Marco and thus win the game. Though he was effective for most of the game he took a good beating. I expect the non-region games to test the durability of said phenom. One thing will be for sure after LC and Fairview come rolling through, MtP will have a downhill slide to the playoffs.

  6. QUOTE(royal91 @ May 7 2007 - 05:54 PM) 826453735quinton yell-MC 126 stops and 92 solo as a sophomore(should've gotten all-region)

WOW!!! 92 solos??? this tells me one of three things. They played no less than 14 games thus he avged over 6 solos a game (incredible feat), the rest of his team was sooo bad that they played a ton of defense, or the stat guy was his dad.

I'm sure he's a great player, but this goes to prove that coaches need to check the stats through film revision. Be honest with your kids!

  7. QUOTE(Lc pride @ Apr 6 2007 - 11:58 AM) 826431319if there are football players in lyles why give them to fairview ......you always get as many people as you can on your team

Especially since East Hickman Middle consistently turns out better athletes than Centerville. I wouldn't spurn them so soon.

  8. QUOTE(Big Country @ Apr 4 2007 - 05:31 PM) 826430077Spring Hill proved that this can very well often times be the case JUST LAST SEASON!!!!

In fact, they proved it in the second half of the season by earning wins over teams like Cheatham Co., Creek Wood, Page, & Lexington. It would have been very easy for Coach McKnight and the team to throw in the towel and give up early last season following close losses to Columbia Central, Marshall Co., & Giles Co. but Spring Hill down the stretch last year would have beaten or contended with anyone in the western half of the Class 3A Playoff Bracket WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE TEAM THAT ELIMINATED THEM (David Lipscomb being that team).

BC- as I read your post I was hoping to get to the part about SH losing to their only 2a opponent last year, Fairview. Anyways...lets compare the numbers, just for Ss&Gs. Fairview beat SH 16-0, Goodpasture beat Fairview 62-19, Alcoa beat Goodpasture 31-3. So it looks like (of course that was LAST year /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Alcoa was 87 pts better than the Raiders from Spring Hill. SH doesn't stand a snowballs chance. But you're right it will be a good barometer of their skills.

  9. QUOTE(PapaKJoe @ Apr 5 2007 - 08:39 AM) 826430491Hickman Co. returns 7 or 8 on def. and 5 or 6 on offense. I think most of those will be jr.s next year and we don't have many sr's. These guys have been playing and starting as soph's in the most athletic 4A region in the state and are now dropping to 2A. They still gotta learn how to beat fairview and Lewis Co. but that might be more doable now since they won't have to turn around and play Maplewood, whites creek, and Hillboro the next week.

Let me see if I understand...you're saying that Hickman Co. prepared differently over the past few years in their loses to Fairview do to their 4A region opponents???? I have met Coach Swinson and I see that as a knock on him, he is a great coach and has his players ready every week. Hickman co. was well prepared last year when they opened the Fairivew game with a KO return. But couldn't hold on and Fairview escaped with the W. So if Fairview and Lewis are more talented while currently in 2A what is your reasoning to think that Hickman will get better while losing athletes from East Middle in the longrun. That's like Saying UT will get better next year if they aren't allowed to recruit in Kentucky, Georgia, and Alabama.

  11. WOW! MTP looks like they are bting off more than they can chew with the best of the revamped 6-2A. they've got LC and Fairview on their schedule next season. Good thing they don't have anything to worry about come region play huh? They'll be 9-3 going into the playoffs with Mr. Football having seen some speed and hard hitting long before the semis, this scheduling can only help MTP.

  12. Along with this comes scheduling woes. Now AA schools that are in regions where they know they'll be fighting for third/fourth seeds are going to schedule cupcake non-region teams so they'll have a chance to make the playoffs as a wildcard.

Speaking of cupcake non-region games, I heard that Waverly won't have anything to do with scheduling Fairview next season. Maybe papatiger can use his powers of influence on the powers that be at WCHS. I have it on good authority that Fairview really wants to see want all that Wavo hype is about.

  13. Anyone that was at the Lewis game last night, can you tell me where Fairview was at the end of the half when they decided to go for 6 instead of putting up the easy 3? I am just curious, cause anytime you can put points on the board against a defense that only gives up a little over 3 a game, it seems to me putting 3 on the board is a must.

I can't let this one go. The holder said the snap was high and left. he is taught that if his right knee gets pulled off the ground, he fires. The wing/TE didn't hear the fire call. fatal mistake. I assure you it wasn't a called fake.

  14. Who do you think will make some noise from region 9???

Fairview's will be back with a full squad this year, a new coaching staff that is bringing back kids that had been turned off to the sport in recent years.

The Cassidy brothers, Leach brothers, Degalliford, and Davidson, will all turn some heads for the yellowjackets this year. Lot of good senior leadership and decent talent coming from the underclassmen.

  15. here is Fairview's Schedule.

If anybody has open dates that correspond or are willing to tack us on in a tri please let me know. We have a full squad (i.e. no forfeits *without injury)

  16. I thought we were talking about Fairview. You changed the subject because you knew I was right. Oh well. Speaking of CPA, you can look at all of my posts and I admit how good CPA is. They are a great team with great coaches. I also have posted the way Waverly can pull the upset is for CPA to turn it over several times and Waverly not turn it over and play good defense.

And back to Fairview, yes Waverly has had trouble this year on offense, but they have straightened a lot of their offensive woes out later in the year, they have had injuries to key players and other things, but they are by no means the same team that played Hickman County. HC wouldn't beat them now, and I'm pretty sure neither would Fairview. But either way, As far as the Adamsville game, we had 2 touchdowns called back on penalties, 5 turnovers and the starting running back didn't even play. That is one of the reasons you can't compare scores.

Fairview will lose to Lewis County no doubt.

You Gentlemen are a true pleasure to razz with :) Kinda like Chicago Cubs fans. I enjoy getting lively spitting contests going. As only time will tell who will be eating crow for breakfast on Saturday morning. Enjoy Friday night, and may the Victors Relish the Spoils! :thumb:

  17. Just two short weeks? Yes, that was Waverly's first game of the year, some of the guys on Waverly had not even played in high school. Hickman wouldn't beat Waverly now. But that doesn't matter.

Crazy talk? Naw!!! You're the one talking crazy. NO you can't compare scores? I'll just have to show you. You are obviously a little behind the learning curve.

Goodpasture beat Fairview by 43 points, CPA beat Fairview by 45 points. So this means CPA beats Goodpasture by 2 right? GP wins by 14.

Next example, Fairview beats FRA by 42 points, GP beats FRA by 47. So this means GP would beat Fairview by 5. No, GP beat Fairview by 43.

Next example, CPA beat FRA by 56 pts, Fairview beats FRA by 42. So by your theory, CPA would beat Fairview by 14. No again, CPA beat Fairview by 45.

Next example CPA beat Ezell by 27, Fairvew beat Ezell by 27, GP beat Ezell by 48. That means GP beats CPA & Fairview by 21. No, GP beat CPA by 14, Fairview by 43.

By the way, Ezell beat FRA by 26 so CPA & Fairview should have only beat EZell by 1.

Do you get the point? Now who's crazy? :D

    Oh..I'm crazy allright...Crazy like a Fox!

I was thinking more along the lines that Fairview beat Hickman and Waverly got shutout. So Waverly couldn't find a way to score on Hickman, but Waverly is going to upset CPA? So what you're saying is Waverly has cured their offensive woes and become a Deffensive Juggernaut since they lost to HC. Their growth at midseason helped them to hang 10 on Adamsville. impressive :o And now Wavo is rolling into the playoffs. The problem with that arguement is that it assumes CPA hasn't made any improvement this season, CPA is a fantastic team with a great O-D-Line, super LBs, and a superb QB. Granted, Waverly might have made tremendous strides since their first loss but I assure you it wont be enough to take down CPA. :(
