  1. The CRAP that i have heard went on this past weekend is PATHETIC...If you live in Halls then you know exactly what I am talking about. This happened back in the mid 1990's as well...Kevin Julian is a Red Devil thru and thru and the way some parents have acted lately is absolutely PATHETIC. I am ashamed to say that I have supported Halls for close to two decades. Do you REALLY think this is Kevin's fault? If so, then you have no idea about football and what Coaches go thru and put in on a daily basis. The problem is there are parents that think their kid is a prima donna and they should be on the field at all times and be given the ball every time Halls is on Offense. And when that doesn't happen they wanna take their kids to another school or start a petition. Kevin keep your head held high and don't worry about the fence hugging Quarterbacks that are trying to re-live their high school glory thru their own kids.

    +1

  2. Devilsden - positions were changed this year and it didn't help. It doesn't help to change positions when Julian is the one calling the plays on both sides of the ball.

There are kids in the halls of Halls that should be playing football and that would help. Halls had two players that gave all they had this year. Maybe some of the younger classmen should have helped in stepping up. Brady Brown did all he could. Yes, he had his own mistakes but so did the games #12 had a lot on him due to #7 getting a pretty bad injury in the first quarter of Campbell County game. That put him out pretty much the whole CC game and not many plays for Central. I think if he had been his full self, those games would have been a different outcome. #12 had a lot on his shoulders those two games due to he was all there was those two games. Was nice to see him run in his final touchdown on last few seconds of Central game. He deserved it. Those two boys have been an inspiration to a lot of the kids on this team and will definitely be missed.

Although Central beat Halls, just wasn't that impressed with them. Didn't see anything impressive from the Blank kid either. Noticed 25 outplayed him quite a bit.

Guess its a wait and see game for Halls from here. Hoping things change or more kids are going elsewhere.

Our problem is lack of players. Nothing else right now. If a few more 7's and 12's played for the team, Halls would be on top. These things run in cycles unless you're Maryville or some of the privates. Give it time for KJ to get things righted. I'm the first to admit he should have scrapped the wing T a few years ago. Took him too long. But now that he has the kids will come back.

  3. I'm sure that coaching does have something to do with it, but if you don't have the talent, you aren't going to win very many games, especially against more talented teams. IMO, through their first 7 games, Halls has beaten the only team with a similar talent level - Clinton. I don't see another team in Halls' first 7 games that they should've beaten, although getting blown out by Karns was a bit surprising.

Last year, Halls was on par, talent-wise, with 3 district opponents - Clinton, Karns, and CC. They lost all 3 of those games. This year, they've started 1-0 against teams who they match up evenly with. If they beat Campbell County and Central (they have enough talent to go toe-to-toe with both of those teams), they will be 3-0 in winable games, which is a huge turnaround from last year. I think that the Halls community just isn't used to losing this many games, and they certainly aren't used to losing games against annual cellar dwellers, like CC.

Good post, OSUNut. I agree with everything you say. I too was surprised with the Karns blowout but Halls has in every other game played consistent with the players' overall talent level. To expect them to be able to win consistently against superior talent would require miracles from the coaching staff. Coach Julian has implemented several changes that will enable them to compete once they can get a few more players. Heck, look at the teams' overall numbers. It wasn't long ago that there were 80 or 90 who dressed. What are we now, 45? You simply can't beat the Powells, ORs, and others of the world like that with such depressed numbers. True, we have a few who could play with and excel on any team, but not enough of them. Fans need to realize that.

As far as ORKat's comment, it's true as far as it goes but it's a function of depressed numbers. Halls has had plenty of speed in the recent past. Now, with so few to pick from, not enough. There are some promising signs in the community park. Yet it would be a huge help if the high school coaches took a bigger role there. We lose too many good players to other programs, such as yours, OSUNut. I could name a few who play for your 12U XFL team, which, I might add, is coached by an alum of the 1986 Halls state championship team! Needless to say, way too much hemorrhaging to other programs over the past 10 years! Not sure all of the reasons for that but I do know some.

  4. Well, In your "hypothetical" situation I would want to know if the student was actually stealing a pair of shorts or borrowing them to dress out or what? Both scenarios are wrong in my opinion and its details like this that the system will find out and make their decision. Like I said, Let the system have time to work.

But I do say this. Stealing is Stealing and anyone doing so should be punished. Yes I hope this young man has to pay for what ever he did, but some of these rumors are so far from the truth.

If a person steals a car then send him to jail, but if a person stole a pencil does he still need jail time?

I hope the young man is punished for his wrong doings, but I also hope the punishment fits the bill.

I still think Powell does fine without him this week and the rest of the year. Is anyone going to start a MoEast vs Powell thread or have I over looked it? Im ready for my predication already!

I think I agree with your answer. What I thought you were getting at earlier was that iPods and money are much more serious than the hypothetical shorts scenario. With that said, of course the punishment should fit the crime. And on that question, a prior history of offenses and whether or not a person can be linked to other missing items from the hypothetical gym class locker room are equally important considerations to the kind of item that was filched.

Like you, I also noted certain inaccuracies in some of the other posts here. But IMO and with all due respect that doesn't make them rise to the level of bashing as you claimed in your first post. Rather, I think most of the posts have been thoughtful and reserved.

  5. Ok, Ive read enough bashing/rumors and it is getting ridiculous. I pay well to be informed of many things associated with High School Football and there are so many inaccuracies in the above posts that its pathetic. Even the post about the Senior stealing cleats is not entirely accurate, close but not the whole story. All of the posters who are saying he stole ipods and money need to check their sources. I will not let the true details out now until due process has taking place but when the truth is revealed about what actually DID happen, there will be alot of people that have made comments about this young man that will want to apologize to him. With that said, let the system do its job and quit with the he said she said stuff because they are so far from the truth and like some have said he is a minor as well.

PS. A similar thing happened at Halls a few weeks ago and I bet no one know about that... go figure.

Hypothetically, if a person purloined a pair of shorts from a gym class locker room, does that register on your seriousness meter?

  6. I think his best coached game was the Halls Maryville at Maryville. We actually scared the beejeebees out of some of the Rebs parents I know. 30-22 I think it ended up. Most teams don't play toe to toe at their place. When you have balance you will make the playoffs.

That was a GREAT game. But I think the score was 38-30. Turner got hurt and Dowdy played in the 2nd half if I'm not mistaken. Wesley Kitts and Dayton were nearly unstoppable. Burnette did a great job for Maryville getting away from consistently good pressure and delivering some critical strikes for them.

  7. FWIW, catcall, I wasn't the one who flagged your previous threads regarding this story, but there is a reason why they were deleted. Dy'shawn obviously did something wrong, but the school has stated that they won't publicly say what happened because they don't have to (and because he is a minor). I just hope he gets the appropriate punishment, if what I'm hearing is true.

Whether the punishment is appropriate is a tough question, whatever Lowe and the school/county administration decide to do. I've heard what happened and it's very serious. Other factors will be whether he's ever been in trouble before, whether he gets special treatment as an IDEA student, and whether he can be linked or admits to any other similar offenses.
