  2. The Broadway Bowl ? Are you from around here RedD? This is the Battle of Black Oak Ridge! Go Big Red!
  3. Au contraire mon frere! The Red Devils pull off the shocker, 20-14!
  4. The margin will be bigger after Friday.
  5. Wonder what the all time record is between us? I will guess Powell is ahead by several.
  6. Almost two years since the last post here. It is even worse now. Halls, how did it come to this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdBcsdk8pEY
  7. What's the word on J.D. Overton? http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/jun/20/halls-hires-carter-coordinator-jd-overton-as/ Seems pretty young. Maybe that's what we need. IDK. Gutsy move to take the job with the interim tag.
  8. Ah, I had heard about that but forgot. Did he get any playing time there?
  9. No, he left there and went to a school in Arizona along with the late Aaron Douglas and a receiver from Maryville whose name I can't recall -- Maples maybe. Burnette is probably in his last year if not finished by now.
  10. Ha, not sure this QB's family has the money the Burnettes had. It would be quite the haul for the current QB kid without a move. When you have the money to pick up stakes and build a new home in Maryville, that makes it a whole lot easier.
  11. Lol! Wouldn't be the first ex-Halls QB to star for the Red Rebels.
  12. Three boys from Halls in it. One is the son of an assistant coach who I heard resigned after Coach J was let go. I wonder where the assistant coach will end up, along with his talented son?
  13. Are the games being televised in Knoxville on Channel 43, the local Fox affiliate? Checked the schedule and it doesn't list them tomorrow but maybe it has not been updated.
  14. Our problem is lack of players. Nothing else right now. If a few more 7's and 12's played for the team, Halls would be on top. These things run in cycles unless you're Maryville or some of the privates. Give it time for KJ to get things righted. I'm the first to admit he should have scrapped the wing T a few years ago. Took him too long. But now that he has the kids will come back.
  15. Good post, OSUNut. I agree with everything you say. I too was surprised with the Karns blowout but Halls has in every other game played consistent with the players' overall talent level. To expect them to be able to win consistently against superior talent would require miracles from the coaching staff. Coach Julian has implemented several changes that will enable them to compete once they can get a few more players. Heck, look at the teams' overall numbers. It wasn't long ago that there were 80 or 90 who dressed. What are we now, 45? You simply can't beat the Powells, ORs, and others of the world like that with such depressed numbers. True, we have a few who could play with and excel on any team, but not enough of them. Fans need to realize that. As far as ORKat's comment, it's true as far as it goes but it's a function of depressed numbers. Halls has had plenty of speed in the recent past. Now, with so few to pick from, not enough. There are some promising signs in the community park. Yet it would be a huge help if the high school coaches took a bigger role there. We lose too many good players to other programs, such as yours, OSUNut. I could name a few who play for your 12U XFL team, which, I might add, is coached by an alum of the 1986 Halls state championship team! Needless to say, way too much hemorrhaging to other programs over the past 10 years! Not sure all of the reasons for that but I do know some.
  16. I think I agree with your answer. What I thought you were getting at earlier was that iPods and money are much more serious than the hypothetical shorts scenario. With that said, of course the punishment should fit the crime. And on that question, a prior history of offenses and whether or not a person can be linked to other missing items from the hypothetical gym class locker room are equally important considerations to the kind of item that was filched. Like you, I also noted certain inaccuracies in some of the other posts here. But IMO and with all due respect that doesn't make them rise to the level of bashing as you claimed in your first post. Rather, I think most of the posts have been thoughtful and reserved.
  17. Hypothetically, if a person purloined a pair of shorts from a gym class locker room, does that register on your seriousness meter?
  18. That was a GREAT game. But I think the score was 38-30. Turner got hurt and Dowdy played in the 2nd half if I'm not mistaken. Wesley Kitts and Dayton were nearly unstoppable. Burnette did a great job for Maryville getting away from consistently good pressure and delivering some critical strikes for them.
  19. Whether the punishment is appropriate is a tough question, whatever Lowe and the school/county administration decide to do. I've heard what happened and it's very serious. Other factors will be whether he's ever been in trouble before, whether he gets special treatment as an IDEA student, and whether he can be linked or admits to any other similar offenses.
  20. Didn't see anyone disagree with you. Didn't take a genius to guess it would likely get ugly.
