  1. If Milan looses, and I have to write a $20 check to Alcoa, I'll also have to write one for $21 to Milan or I'll feel treasonous. So i'm really risking $41. I enjoy Coacht, but I would rather support high school football programs. I'll tell you what though. You bring your check book, and I'll bring mine. We'll settle up after the game, assuming you'll be there.
  2. I agree with you APB, a lot of people need to understand that none of us will affect the outcome of the game and that Coacht is all in good fun. Of course there are arrogant fans, on both sides, who enjoy getting under the skin of the opposing team. Like I said before, If ever there is a Milan-Alcoa thread without that, then I quit.
  3. Yes, cans of Alpo dog food. You'll see him friday. I'll try to find a picture of Bone man. You'll hear him friday. He wears a big bone around his neck and barks the whole game.
  4. BCSportsfan, are you ignorng my bet?
  5. BCS, I have no problem with you or most of your posts for that matter. If ever there is a Milan-Alcoa thread that doesn't have over zealous fans arguing with one another I'll quit posting. Deep down we both know that this Friday our respective team will play the hardest fought and most important game they have ever played. One team will win, one team will lose, and every player will have done something most high school athletes never will; represent their team in a state championship. As for your earlier attempt at a gentleman's wager with hufstedler; he isn't a gambler, I am. I've got a wager for you with different stakes. Coacht is sustained by advertisements, not plus memberships. Having a plus membership doesn't really afford any benefits. I have no desire to attain one nor to further yours. High school football programs, however, are not sustained by advertisements but by donations. Here is my wager: If Alcoa wins, I will write and mail a check, payable to Alcoa's football booster program, for $20. I'll even send it to you if you assure me it will be given to the booster club. (so you'll know I upheld my end of the bet) If Milan wins, I would expect you to write and mail a check, payable to Milan's Quarterback Club, for $20. You would have to live with the fact that you helped pay for our championship rings. Deal?
  6. That bulldog may be wearing pink, But it's also wearing a crown.---Dethrowning?
  7. BC, what you have been giving us are about 10% facts. Maryville scored less than 20 against Alcoa is a fact. "There's no way Milan scores more than 20" is an opinion, or an option as you call it in Blount county. Booker T. Washington scored 18 points against Milan in two games is a fact. Milan scored 99 points against B.T. Washington, also a fact "Milan is not deep enough to play 4 quarters with Alcoa"...This is an "option" No one doubts that Alcoa is good. Really good. You don't win 4 consecutive state titles and make it to the finals trying to make it five straight without being really good. It's also true, however, that Milan is really good. Alcoa is favored, and should be favored. But at least give Milan credit. This team has done everything they have been asked to do. They have won every game they have played. No, we didn't play Maryville. If we did, I think we would have given them a game just as Alcoa did, and we would have lost just as Alcoa did. We didn't play Henry County as we have in many years past because as someone else pointed out, we only have 3 non-region games to play. Huntingdon is our biggest rivalry; Camden's coach played in Milan and for that reason that has become a rivalry game, and Booker T. Washington was our homecoming game as they were yours. I have no problem with you confidence in you team (or "confident's" as you call it in Blount county), but don't run our team into the ground to make yours look better. Alcoa has done their bragging on the field for the past 4 years. They don't need you to help them. Milan is happy to have a shot at state. We're going to take our shot and win or loose Alcoa will know they had a game.
  8. Saban was not at Johnnie Hale. He may have had someone else there watching Cunningham but he wasn't there himself. The crowd can see everyone on the sideline and I can see everyone in the press box from where I sit. Saban was worried about Alabama's game the next day. As for Cunningham, ask J.W. Williams if he is a physical back. He'll tell you yes. Our defense just did a great job gang tackling. If it's one on one, Cunningham wins. He will be a good player in college. Probably not a running back, but a saftey or return man. I'm glad we won't have to play him anymore. Who is Alcoa's main back? And how many players does Alcoa dress out?
  9. And I'm sure your opinion is very crediable considering you haven't seen Milan play. If Milan gets blown out, then yes, the state may have been decided last week. But you cant make that prediction without seeing how Milan handels playing Alcoa.
  10. The fact is, both Alcoa and Milan are real good. If Milan was going for their 5th consecutive gold ball, as a fan, no one could convince me that this year would be any different, so I don't expect to convince Alcoa that we will beat them. BUT, be prepared for a team that is better than many Alcoa fans think. Both defenses are great, and neither offense turns the ball over much so it should be a low scoring game. To answer volfan5's question, yes. Milan has 2 players as quick as boo. #4 Tristin Peoples and #7 J.W. Williams. Neither are as strong a Boo, but they are very comparable in speed and quickness.
  11. Milan is a power I team. We have been a Power I team for a long time. This year, however, we have the athletes and QB to run what ever offense we want. We have used a lot of spread formation lately. We can throw out of it with the best of them and we can run out of it whenever we want. We have started running our QB in a "Tebow" style also. If we need 3 yards we can hand to fullback, tailback, QB keeper, short passes, sweeps, or even take a shot deep. If we go into a spread, you HAVE to respect our ability to throw, but we really like to run. We can do a lot but when it comes right down to it, Milan wants to line up and run right at people. If we get stoped, we'll do something else and do it well.
  12. Michie, TN's zip code is 38357 Milan, TN's zip code is 38358 Alcoa has won 4 state titles and hasn't lost to a 2a team in a long time. I seriously doubt they would resort to sending the film to the wrong town to gain an advantage. It was a mistake, either by the Postal Service or who typed the address label. I'm sure Milan has film right now. Our coaches know a lot of coaches across the state and most like them. Let's talk about the game and not mail screw ups.
  13. Well I have to go to work on "Black Friday" but I can't be too depressed because when I get off I'll be watching football. Just a few more hours.
  14. I have no doubt that Goodpasture is a very tallented team and that Cunningham is one of the best backs in 2A. However, from what I have read and what I have heard from people who have seen them play, Goodpasture is one dimensional. Although it is possibe for tallented well coached teams that are one dimensional to make it to this point of the playoffs, they don't fair well against tallented well coached teams that are well rounded. Cunningham is good, but if Milan contains him, what will Goodpasture do?
  15. I'd like to see Cunningham and Gilbert line up one on one tackling/running drill. I like Gilberts chances.
  16. As a former milan player, if you don't win state, you did not accomplish what you set out to do from the very beginning. From that standpoint, it is a failure. I failed. There is nothing wrong with that. It teaches you how to handle failure. Hopefuly, milan will succede this year. nwtnsports, you said you were a milan fan for many years. Do you still consider yourself a Bulldog fan?
  17. If Milan had lost, I would have been depressed for a week and then I would have supported Westveiw at home Next week. Had I known the Milan game would be as close as it was, obviously I would have been there. But nobody, including yourself, thought it would be very close. I will be in my usual seat in Milan next week, and if we win, I'll be there the next, and if we win, I'll be at the Boro in December. Don't question my fanhood.
  18. I saw JCS tonight and they are good. Accurate passer and a stable of recievers. They also have a good run game and good run defense. They would be a formidible opponet for any team around. Hopefully Milan will take the things that went wrong tonight, learn from them, and fix them. If we turn the ball over 4 or 5 times, JCS will probably beat us. We just can't afford those type of mistakes in the quarterfinals. If both teams play their best, Milan wins. I think Milan will play their best. Not many games in West Tennessee next friday. Hopefully we'll have a big crowd.
  19. I will happily serve dual fanship tonight and become a Mustang fan in addition to my true alliance with my Bulldogs. Obviously under the precondition that if both my Bulldogs and "our" Mustangs advance, my interim fanship with Huntingdon will cease with our handshake at the end of the game, and we will once again be rivals. Following this hopeful future match up between My Bulldogs and your Mustangs, I will proceed to root for the victor in future playoff rounds. Is there any way I can identify either you or hoofbeat or another coacht member who will welcome me despite the fact that I will be clad in purple? So I will know whose hand to shake in greeting. By the way, how much is gas in Huntingdon?
  20. I think this is intended as a joke. Milan and Martin are both run teams and are not strangers to wet fields. Seems like we always play eachother on a wet field acutally. Does anyone remember Martin's field in 2004? Not a blade of grass between the hashes, 4 inches of simi frozen mud. Our kicker kicked PATs from the hash so he could have a little bit of footing. Our white away jerseys were solid brown with a little red blood mixed in.
  21. I know JCS can run the ball, but the heart of their offense is the pass game. The forecast for kickoff is 52 degrees and raining with temps dropping into the forties. How much do you think a cold wet field will affect will JCS?
  22. You can have my seat. I think I'm going to watch Huntington.
  23. I wouldn't consider going to a high school football game clad in anything but purple. Hopefuly the huntington fans will let me in. I've sat there during jamborees before and the fans were most corgile.
  24. The 12th man play was in 2005 not 2003. Milan just got beat in 2003. Many (milan supporters) feel this was a fluke. Many (huntington supporters) feel it was not a fluke. At any rate, Mian and Huntington were the 2 best teams in Tennessee in 2003. This is a Huntington-JCS thread anyway. Not a Huntington-Milan thread. Perhaps we'll have on of those next week. Also, there is no reason to insult a high school athlete. Particularly one we may soon have to play. I probably wouldn't take his arm over any other, but he's good enough to be in the playoffs. Would the pigskin pals welcome a rival fan from Milan?
  25. I will probably sit on Huntington's side because it's bigger and more comfortable. As for who I would root for, I haven't decided yet. I respect both teams and either will be a formidable opponet in the quarterfinals. I think defending the run is more in Milan's blood than defending the pass. JCS's overall style scares me a little because if you have a lapse for just a few minuets of a game, they can get on you and beat you quick. Huntington just scares me because of the 3 years I played varsity football Huntington in November was the last game I played all 3 years. This being said, I would rather meet Huntington in the quarterfinals. Not because I think either team would be easier to play than the other, but since I lost to them every year I played, I would love nothing more than to watch Milan put them out of the playoffs at Johnie Hale. The only thing better than beating Huntington in November would be beating Alcoa in December. Good luck to both teams, I'm looking forward to it.
