  1. That post reminds me, does anyone know if the TSSAA offering handicapped seating at the games this week?
  2. That post reminds me of something. We really need new "puking" smilies for these boards.
  3. Just curious, is Goodpasture playing Ohio State...or Alcoa?
  4. Then...I guess Lipscomb should probably just go ahead and hand over the Golden Ball to Fulton?
  5. Goodpasture probably has the best group at offensive line in the state this year, especially the Fisher kid, so just forget Alcoa holding them to 7 points. The Tornados are going to see some big boys who can move on the o-line. Now, Alcoa may very well put up some points on GP's defense because they do have some great backs, so I see this being a high scoring affair with all the speed on the turf at MTSU. This is the game we wanted to see.
  6. I've been expecting Lipscomb to slip-up all year, and they just haven't. Murphy Fair even picked Dyersburg to beat them on Fox Channel 17 here in Nashville, but it's just not happening. These guys are a heck of a football team. Fulton may have the headline players, but I'm telling you this Lipscomb bunch will be a handful for Fulton. This will be an excellent title game for sure. David Lipscomb's one loss, by the way, was to Goodpasture 20-13 in the first game.
  7. I agree totally. I don't get the reasoning, or lack there of, of people rooting against their OWN region. What kind of sense does that make? So you want your team to look even worse? You see it in college football all the time, even in the SEC. Hey, I can't stand Alabama or Florida, but I definitely want them to win their bowl games and out-of-conference games so the SEC looks good. When your conference looks good, you look good. So, obviously, I'm pulling for PC in this one, and I'm sure the Knox Catholic fans are pulling hard for Fulton.
  8. No body is crying, I root for Sycamore, they won, I didn't like what my OWN team did. Respect matters more than the scoreboard or the stat sheet, and actually, it is the responsibility of the winning team to stay out of the endzone if they can just as easily take a knee and run the clock out. This is not a strange concept. This is Football 101.
  9. I also think you guys have a very good shot to win this game. You have the athletes and playmakers, they just have to take care of the football, and maybe force them into a couple of mistakes. I think an underrated part of Pearl Cohn is their secondary. They were the one team that really shut down Sycamore's passing game, and they did it two games. I have doubts that Fulton will be able to get much through the air against Pearl's secondary because they are so quick and BIG, so they will really have to run the ball well to win. "Most" of Region 4-3A is definitely pulling for you guys, so go make us proud.
  10. Oh everyone KNOWS enough about Fulton to know they are the heavy favorite in this game, so don't be trying that old Lou Holtz-speak on us.
  11. Big Country, it must be flattering to know that some people value your opinions so much and pay such close attention to what you post. I tip my cap.
  12. Nah, you're right, that 6'6" 220 receiver who touched the ball twice, had 161 yards, and scored twice last night won't be much of a match-up problem for you guys I'm sure. Nope, no huge playmakers to be found at Pearl Cohn.
  13. Hey, we can't be too upset, Pearl Cohn is just a really good football team and they came to play in the second half. Rashad Mason really showed what kind of a special athlete he is last night, he DOES have that extra gear I was waiting to see, so hats off to him and a great Firebird team. They earned it. I think they will give those old East Tennessee boys from Fulton all they want and more. Good luck manning up on Rashad is all I'll say. I'll be rooting for our region 4-3A champs no doubt. Great season Sycamore. Cheatham County is proud to have had such a great team to watch all season. This was one of, if not the, best Sycamore teams there has been...so far.
  14. I'm sorry, there are now TWO All-american Bowls! Chris Donald is playing in the US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio and Golden Tate in the Offense/Defense All-American Bowl in Florida. We have to specify now. I didn't know there were now two. This is the first year for the one in Ft. Lauderdale. My mistake.
  15. Carlton Flatt, BA. Even people who don't know much about high school football know that name all around Nashville.
  16. I am fairly certain you have to be a graduating senior to even go, so it has nothing to do with "private schools". Jaques Seward is only a junior according to the Hillsboro roster. Golden Tate is a senior. Chris Donald is another Tennessee player on the team. Tennessee is turning out some big-time players lately.
  17. This is a biased subject for me, but there are others who would say the same that don't live here. I think Cody Findley from Cheatham County does more with what he has than any coach I have seen in 3A ball, or 2A before that. He doesn't have the local talent the Lipscombs, Pearl Cohns, Goodpastures, or even White House's can draw from, but his teams compete and make the playoffs every year. A lot of coaches have the benefit of drawing from lots of local talent, have much bigger budgets, or better facilities. He puts some hard-nosed teams on the field every year, no matter their talent level. They lost a ton of starters, including 5 players playing small college ball this year, from last year's 9-3 team and still made it to the playoffs.
  18. I think having the big boy #79 Lane back for this game will really help Sycamore on the line. He didn't dress the first time they played, and he had a very good game against Station Camp last week. They had a tough time keeping him out of the backfield in the second half. I wish I could be there tonight! You'll all get your money's worth in the game itself, and on top of that, you also get the Pearl Cohn marching band show at half. I'm sure it will be standing room only, so get there early.
  19. Sorry Vandy, I'm not very quick on the jokes sometimes, I misunderstood. I apologize.
  20. I understand where you're coming from, you got a lot out of wrestling I'm sure, but stretching itself increases your flexibility more than anything, and as an added bonus, with stretching, you don't have cauliflower ear. There's no secret training program to be a great football player, or any other sports player. It's easy to say, hard to do. #1 You have to enjoy the game you play, most importantly. #2 You have to have some physical ability and talent to start with. #3 You will be as good as your work ethic and attitude will allow you to be (In lifting weights, running, stretching, studying the game, taking what you can from good coaches, eating right, getting good sleep, hanging around people of faith and character, and laying off the booze and cancer sticks). And my own #4 that I can personally attest to, You need to be right with Jesus, or you'll be misguided, unable to enjoy success, and all because you're doing all the above for the wrong reasons.
  21. I'm sorry, but what exactly is "out of hand" in this thread? Are you a hall monitor? Chill.
  22. #78 Jerry Henry from Cheatham County (He was listed at 6'5" 285 last year as a sophomore) will be a senior next year. He must be a good athlete for his size, because Cheatham actually had him playing TIGHT END some near the end of the year! He caught 2 for 30 yards against South Side! That's just scary.
  23. That's an interesting pick. However, there would be some controversy and confusion over how Pearl Cohn could possibly have won by 5 in an overtime game.
  24. I have no specific beef with wrestling, I think it's a tough sport, but I don't believe a coach should require or expect football players to wrestle. Whether you like it or want to believe it, it is easy to get hurt badly in wrestling, so if you forsee yourself having a chance to play football in college I, personally, wouldn't be encouraging it unless you just loved it. Go play baseball or basketball, or just work out and do speed drills to work on your quickness. You can only get so much out of the one body the Lord gave you, so you better take care of it. This is a personal preference I know, but that's just me.
