  1. Some have said that "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan is a real adrenaline rush for the players running through the banner. I believe Red Boiling Springs plays it at each home game when they run on the field.
  2. I think that even if a guy is "cleared" to play doesn't mean he's "ready" to play, you also need to have practice time to be ready. I think that a coach has to realize that before throwing a kid in there coming back from an injury like that. I saw them play Sycamore in week 1 and it looked like the Tigers would decide to play one series, and then take off the next. You can't play like that. It bit them in the rear last night. Greenbrier looks like they may be ready to go on a run. They started off 0-2 but lost those 2 games to some oustanding teams in Pope John Paul II and Lipscomb, so they are much better than their 2-2 record indicates. Great win by the Brier.
  3. Sycamore escaped with a 30-28 win. The thing about Cody Findley teams is that they are tough as nails, and you could see it last night. They never quit against a very solid War Eagles team when it looked like "Big Moe" had swung toward the War Eagles a few times. Joey Beach dominated all night long and was the star of the game in a losing effort. How about this box score line for Mr. Beach: 7 receptions for 183 and 2 TD's, a 74 yard TD pass, ran a fake punt 27 yards, and then kicked a punt inside the five that looked like something Craig Hentrich would be proud of (reports say that afterwards he cooked the team meal and washed uniforms). What a game for Beach, even in a losing cause! On the other side, Austin Lohin is a gamer to say the least. He came into the game wearing a brace on his throwing arm, he turned his knee or ankle early in the second half on a scramble, was walking with a pronounced limp the rest of the game, but managed to break off some huge runs, made great throws, and picked off a deep pass late in the game that sealed the deal. Now this game was what a rivalry game is supposed to be all about! Congrats to Sycamore, and tighten your chin straps for that game next week against Pearl.
  4. Wow, I am also not believing this score! Greenbrier can't be that much better than Marshall County, I mean Lipscomb rolled them up and put them in their pocket, so this must have been an utter melt-down by the Tigers. This loss is one of those that can sink your entire season if your Marshall County, so they better regroup in a hurry. I also don't know how Gower would have played with a torn-up throwing shoulder, if that is true. Switching between 3 QB's in one game, if that was the case, could be the big reason for this collapse. That's not going to work at any level.
  5. I agree Sycamore fans are acting a little confident, but they do have a good team this year and are ready to get back to winning. They shouldn't be "cocky" though, because Cheatham smacked them all over the field last year 41-10. I would like to think this would be a close game, like rivalry games should be, but strangely enough history proves otherwise in this one. In the 5 games since the rivalry started in 2001 the average margin of victory has been just over 20 points per game. The average score of the 2 games played at Ralph Spangler Field: Sycamore 35 Cheatham 17. This will be a big upset if Cheatham wins. The Cubs have lost so many key players from last year that I think the odds are stacked against them. Sycamore is too experienced (16 seniors) and they also remember that beating they took last year all too well.
