Unaka Softball

Can anyone give me any info on Unaka's pitcher and any offensive threats? How is their catcher?

Any predictions on the Unaka/ CAK game?

Pitcher, Ryann Musick, and Catcher, Megan Heaton, are both tremendous.

 

I can't offer much more, other than to say that Unaka has very good top-to-bottom balance in their line-up.

 

As to predictions: This is a re-match, of sorts, of last season's substate matchup; the game won by CAK, 2 - 0.

 

Last season's very good senior pitcher, Danielle Williams (now at Roane State), and a few others have graduated. The replacements have been a very close-knit group, that Coach Ronnie Hicks has felt "could be special" since day one.

CAK beat Unaka 6-1 today. The lady Rangers only had 2 or 3 hits and chipped in about 4 errors. Unaka laid the bunt down numerous times but unfortunatly couldn't hit the runners in from third base - this happened quite a bit.

 

CAK has a young team that is very talented. I've heard they will move to AA next year. We wish them the best. Too bad the Lady Rangers ended their season with a loss. But then a wise man once told me "Every team in the state ends their season with a loss except one." ....so very true.

Thats right, only one team ends the season without a loss, but many teams have great seasons year after year after year, without making it to that last game. Unaka is one of the most successful programs in the state without a state title, wish they could win one before Coach Hicks decides to retire, he deserves it. It takes a lot for a team to finish in the top 16 in the state year after year after year, and Unaka has done this almost every year thay have had a softball team and that should say a lot about a program. They are not afraid to play anyone and they do not "pad" their schedules. Congratulations to the Unaka team this year, sad to see the seniors leave, there has been a lot of great players who have played at Unaka and some that are still playing college ball and there will be many more who will go to the next level. Great program, great coach and great players.
